I Sa-mu-ên 2
1 An-ne cầu nguyện: “Lòng con tràn ngập niềm vui trong Chúa Hằng Hữu! Chúa Hằng Hữu ban năng lực mạnh mẽ cho con! Bây giờ con có thể đối đáp kẻ nghịch; vì Ngài cứu giúp nên lòng con hớn hở.
“My heart exults in the Lord, and my horn is exalted in my God. My mouth is enlarged over my enemies. For I have rejoiced in your salvation.
2 Không ai thánh thiện như Chúa Hằng Hữu, Không ai cả, chỉ có Ngài; không có Vầng Đá nào như Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta.
Nothing is holy as the Lord is holy. For there is no other beside you. And nothing is strong as our God is strong.
3 Đừng lên giọng kiêu kỳ! Đừng nói lời ngạo mạn! Vì Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời thông biết mọi điều; Ngài suy xét mọi hành động.
Do not continue speaking of great things, boasting. Let what is old depart from your mouth. For the Lord is the God of knowledge, and thoughts are prepared for him.
4 Cây cung của dũng sĩ bị gãy, nhưng người suy yếu được trang bị bằng sức mạnh.
The bow of the powerful has been overwhelmed, and the weak have been girded with strength.
5 Người vốn no đủ nay đi làm mướn kiếm ăn, còn người đói khổ nay được có thức ăn dư dật. Người son sẻ nay có bảy con, nhưng người đông con trở nên cô đơn, hiu quạnh.
Those who before were filled, have hired themselves out for bread. And the starving have been filled, so that the barren have given birth to many. But she who had borne many sons has become unable.
6 Chúa Hằng Hữu cầm quyền sống chết trong tay; cho người này xuống mồ, người kia sống lại. (Sheol h7585)
The Lord brings death, and he gives life. He leads away to death, and he brings back again. (Sheol h7585)
7 Chúa Hằng Hữu khiến người này nghèo, người khác giàu; Ngài hạ người này xuống, nâng người khác lên
The Lord impoverishes, and he enriches. He humbles, and he lifts up.
8 Ngài nhắc người nghèo lên từ bụi đất, đem người ăn xin lên từ nơi dơ bẩn. Ngài đặt họ ngang hàng với các hoàng tử, cho họ ngồi ghế danh dự. Vì cả thế giới đều thuộc về Chúa Hằng Hữu, và Ngài sắp xếp thế gian trong trật tự.
He raises up the indigent from the dust, and he lifts up the poor from filth, so that they may sit with princes, and take hold of a throne of glory. For the hinges of the earth belong to the Lord, and he has placed the globe upon them.
9 Ngài gìn giữ người trung thành với Ngài, nhưng người ác bị tiêu diệt nơi tối tăm. Không ai nhờ sức mình mà thắng thế.
He will preserve the feet of his holy ones, and the impious will be silenced in darkness. For no man will prevail by his own strength.
10 Ai chống đối Chúa Hằng Hữu sẽ bị nát thân. Từ trời Ngài giáng sấm sét trên họ; Chúa Hằng Hữu xét xử toàn thế giới, Ngài ban sức mạnh cho các vua; gia tăng thế lực người được Ngài xức dầu.”
The adversaries of the Lord will dread him. And over them, he will thunder in the heavens. The Lord will judge the parts of the earth, and he will give dominion to his king, and he will lift up the horn of his Christ.”
11 Sau đó, gia đình Ên-ca-na trở về Ra-ma; còn Sa-mu-ên ở lại phục vụ Chúa Hằng Hữu dưới sự hướng dẫn của Thầy Tế lễ Hê-li.
And Elkanah went away to Ramah, to his house. But the boy was a minister in the sight of the Lord, before the face of Eli, the priest.
12 Các con Hê-li là những người gian tà, không biết kính sợ Chúa Hằng Hữu.
But the sons of Eli were sons of Belial, not knowing the Lord,
13 Mỗi khi có người đến dâng sinh tế, họ thường sai đầy tớ cầm chĩa ba. Trong khi thịt đang sôi,
nor the priestly office for the people. And so, no matter who had immolated a victim, the servant of the priest would arrive, while the flesh was still cooking, and he would take a three-pronged hook in his hand,
14 chích vào nồi thịt. Miếng nào dính vào chĩa ba, họ lấy miếng đó. Họ làm như vậy đối với tất cả những người Ít-ra-ên tới Si-lô dâng tế lễ.
and put it into the vessel, or into the cauldron, or into the cooking pot, or into the pan, and all that the hook lifted up, the priest took for himself. So they did to all of Israel who arrived at Shiloh.
15 Có lần, trước khi mỡ được đốt để dâng lên, đầy tớ của thầy tế lễ đòi lấy thịt sống để quay chứ không chịu lấy thịt chín.
In addition, before they burned the fat, the servant of the priest would arrive, and he would say to the one who was immolating: “Give me the flesh, so that I may boil it for the priest. For I will not accept cooked meat from you, but raw.”
16 Nếu người dâng sinh lễ nói: “Để dâng mỡ trước đã, rồi muốn lấy bao nhiêu cũng được.” Thì đầy tớ đáp: “Không, đưa ngay cho ta bây giờ, nếu không, ta giật lấy.”
And the one who was immolating would say to him, “First, allow the fat to be burned today, according to custom, and then take for yourself whatever your soul desires.” But in response, he would say to him: “By no means. For you will give it to me now, otherwise I will take it by force.”
17 Tội lỗi của những thầy tế lễ trẻ này thật lớn trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, vì họ khinh thường các lễ vật người ta đem dâng lên Chúa Hằng Hữu.
Therefore, the sin of the servants was exceedingly great before the Lord. For they drew men away from the sacrifice of the Lord.
18 Trong khi đó Sa-mu-ên chăm lo phục vụ Chúa Hằng Hữu. Cậu mặc một ê-phót bằng vải gai.
But Samuel was ministering before the face of the Lord; he was a youth girded with a linen ephod.
19 Mẹ cậu may áo dài nhỏ, mỗi năm đem cho cậu vào dịp theo chồng dâng sinh tế hằng năm.
And his mother fashioned a little tunic for him, which she brought to him on the appointed days, ascending with her husband, so that he might immolate the solemn sacrifice.
20 Và trước khi họ ra về, Hê-li chúc vợ chồng Ên-ca-na được Chúa Hằng Hữu cho sinh thêm con cái để bù lại đứa con họ đã dâng cho Ngài.
And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife. And he said to him, “May the Lord repay to you offspring from this woman, on behalf of the loan that you offered to the Lord.” And they went away to their own place.
21 Chúa Hằng Hữu cho An-ne sinh thêm được ba trai và hai gái nữa. Còn Sa-mu-ên lớn khôn trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu.
Then the Lord visited Hannah, and she conceived and bore three sons and two daughters. And the youth Samuel was magnified with the Lord.
22 Bấy giờ, Hê-li đã già lắm. Ông nghe hết những điều con ông làm cho người Ít-ra-ên, và cả việc họ ăn nằm với các phụ nữ phục dịch Đền Tạm.
Now Eli was very old, and he heard all that his sons were doing to all of Israel, and how they were sleeping with the women who were waiting at the door of the tabernacle.
23 Hê-li trách con: “Sao các con tệ như thế? Cha nghe dân chúng nói về công việc xấu xa của các con.
And he said to them: “Why are you doing these kinds of things, very wicked things, that I have heard from all the people?
24 Không được! Các con khiến dân của Chúa Hằng Hữu mang tội.
My sons, do not be willing. For it is no good report that I am hearing, so that you would cause the people of the Lord to transgress.
25 Nếu người này có tội với người khác, thì đã có thẩm phán phân xử. Nhưng nếu một người phạm tội với Chúa Hằng Hữu, thì ai dám xen vào?” Nhưng họ không nghe lời cha cảnh cáo, vì Chúa Hằng Hữu đã có ý định giết họ.
If a man has sinned against a man, God may be able to be appeased over him. But if a man has sinned against the Lord, who will pray for him?” But they did not listen to the voice of their father, that the Lord was willing to kill them.
26 Sa-mu-ên ngày càng khôn lớn, càng được Chúa Hằng Hữu và mọi người hài lòng.
But the youth Samuel advanced, and grew up, and he was pleasing to the Lord, as well as to men.
27 Một hôm, có người của Đức Chúa Trời đến gặp Hê-li, truyền sứ điệp của Chúa Hằng Hữu: “Ta đã hiện ra với ông tổ của gia đình ngươi, khi Ít-ra-ên đang làm nô lệ cho Pha-ra-ôn ở Ai Cập.
Then a man of God went to Eli, and he said to him: “Thus says the Lord: Was I not revealed openly to the house of your father, when they were in Egypt in the house of Pharaoh?
28 Ta đã chọn ông tổ ngươi là A-rôn trong các đại tộc để làm chức tế lễ cho Ta. Ta cho nhà người tất cả những lễ vật người Ít-ra-ên dâng làm của lễ thiêu.
And I chose him out of all the tribes of Israel for myself as priest, so that he might ascend to my altar, and burn incense to me, and wear the ephod before me. And I gave to the house of your father all the sacrifices of the sons of Israel.
29 Thế sao ngươi còn tham lam các lễ vật khác đã dâng cho Ta, coi trọng con mình hơn Ta, ăn những miếng ngon nhất trong các lễ vật người Ít-ra-ên dâng hiến, ăn cho béo mập?
Why have you kicked away my victims and my gifts, which I instructed to be offered in the temple? And why have you given more honor to your sons than to me, so that you eat the first-fruits of every sacrifice of my people Israel?
30 Dù Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, có hứa cho nhà ngươi cũng như nhà tổ tiên ngươi được vĩnh viễn phục vụ Ta, nhưng bây giờ, không thể nào tiếp tục nữa; vì Ta chỉ trọng người nào trọng Ta, còn người nào coi thường Ta sẽ bị Ta coi thường.
Because of this, the Lord God of Israel says: I have spoken clearly, so that your house, and the house of your father, may minister in my sight, even forever. But now the Lord says: May this be far from me. Instead, whoever will have glorified me, I will glorify him. But whoever despises me, they will be despised.
31 Đây, trong những ngày sắp tới, Ta sẽ chấm dứt chức tế lễ của dòng họ ngươi. Trong gia đình ngươi không còn ai sống lâu được nữa.
Behold the days are arriving, when I will cut off your arm, and the arm of the house of your father, so that there will not be an old man in your house.
32 Ngươi sẽ thèm thuồng khi thấy dân tộc Ít-ra-ên được thịnh vượng, trong khi chính mình khổ sở và không một ai trong gia đình hưởng được tuổi thọ.
And you will see your rival in the temple, amid all the prosperity of Israel. And there will not be an old man in your house for all days.
33 Người nào trong gia đình ngươi được Ta còn để cho sống sẽ phải đau thương, sầu muộn, nhưng phần đông đều phải chết trong tuổi thanh xuân.
Yet truly, I will not entirely take away a man of you from my altar, but such that your eyes may fail, and your soul may melt away, and a great part of your house may die out, as it pertains to the state of men.
34 Và đây là điềm khởi đầu loạt tai nạn, Ta sẽ để hai con ngươi, Hóp-ni và Phi-nê-a sẽ chết trong cùng một ngày!
But this will be a sign to you, which will happen to your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas: on one day they both will die.
35 Rồi Ta sẽ tấn phong một thầy tế lễ trung thành với Ta, người này sẽ thực hiện mọi điều theo ý định Ta. Ta sẽ xây dựng nhà người bền vững, người sẽ phục vụ Ta mãi mãi, trước mặt những ai được Ta xức dầu.
And I will raise up for myself a faithful priest, who will act in accord with my heart and my soul. And I will build a faithful house for him. And he will walk before my Christ for all days.
36 Những người sống sót trong gia đình ngươi sẽ đến cúi mọp trước mặt người để xin tiền xin bánh, giọng khẩn khoản: ‘Xin làm ơn cho tôi chức tế lễ để kiếm ăn.’”
Then this will be in the future, that whoever will have remained of your house, he will approach so that he may pray on his behalf. And he will offer a coin of silver, and a twist of bread. And he will say: ‘Permit me, I beg you, one part of the priestly office, so that I may eat a mouthful of bread.’”
