1 Sa-lô-môn triệu tập các trưởng lão Ít-ra-ên—trưởng các đại tộc và trưởng các gia tộc—họp tại Giê-ru-sa-lem để thỉnh Hòm Giao Ước của Chúa Hằng Hữu từ Si-ôn, Thành Đa-vít, lên Đền Thờ.
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, all the heads of the tribes, and the leaders of the families of the people of Israel, before himself in Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of Yahweh from the city of David, that is, Zion.
2 Tất cả người nam của Ít-ra-ên đều tập họp trước vua Sa-lô-môn để cử hành đại lễ vào tháng mười đúng vào dịp Lễ Đền Tạm hằng năm.
All the men of Israel assembled before King Solomon at the feast, in the month of Ethanim, which is the seventh month.
3 Khi tất cả trưởng lão của Ít-ra-ên đến, các thầy tế lễ khiêng Hòm Giao Ước lên.
All the elders of Israel came, and the priests took up the ark.
4 Các thầy tế lễ người Lê-vi đem Hòm Giao Ước của Chúa Hằng Hữu đi cùng với cả lều và các dụng cụ thánh trong lều.
They brought up the ark of Yahweh, the tent of meeting, and all the holy furnishings that were in the tent. The priests and the Levites brought these things up.
5 Người Ít-ra-ên đến dự lễ đứng quanh Vua Sa-lô-môn, trước Hòm Giao Ước, cùng dâng tế vô số chiên và bò!
King Solomon and all the assembly of Israel came together before the ark, sacrificing sheep and oxen that could not be counted.
6 Các thầy tế lễ đem Hòm Giao Ước của Chúa Hằng Hữu vào đặt trong nơi thánh của Đền Thờ—Nơi Chí Thánh—và đặt dưới cánh chê-ru-bim.
The priests brought in the ark of the covenant of Yahweh to its place, into the inner room of the house, to the most holy place, under the wings of the cherubim.
7 Hai chê-ru-bim có cánh dang ra che phủ bên trên Hòm và đòn khiêng.
For the cherubim spread out their wings to the place of the ark, and they covered the ark and the poles by which it was carried.
8 Đòn khiêng rất dài, nên từ Đền Thờ—Nơi Thánh—có thể trông thấy đầu cây đòn, nhưng từ bên ngoài không thấy được. Các đòn khiêng nay vẫn còn tại đó.
The poles were so long that their ends were seen from the holy place in front of the inner room, but they could not be seen from outside. They are there to this day.
9 Lúc ấy trong Hòm chỉ có hai bảng đá do Môi-se đặt vào lúc còn ở Núi Hô-rếp khi Chúa Hằng Hữu kết ước với người Ít-ra-ên sau khi họ rời Ai Cập.
There was nothing in the ark except the two tablets of stone that Moses had put there at Horeb, when Yahweh made a covenant with the people of Israel when they came out of the land of Egypt.
10 Khi các thầy tế lễ vừa ra khỏi Nơi Thánh, mây tràn vào Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu,
It came about that when the priests came out of the holy place, the cloud filled the temple of Yahweh.
11 nên họ không thể tiếp tục đứng lại hành lễ. Vinh quang của Chúa Hằng Hữu tràn ngập Đền Thờ.
The priests could not stand to serve because of the cloud, for the glory of Yahweh filled his house.
12 Sa-lô-môn kính cẩn cầu nguyện: “Chúa Hằng Hữu có phán: ‘Ngài ngự nơi tối tăm dày đặc.’
Then Solomon said, “Yahweh has said that he would live in thick darkness,
13 Tuy nhiên, con đã cất một Đền Thờ cho Chúa, một nơi để Ngài ngự đời đời!”
But I have built you a lofty residence, a place for you to live in forever.”
14 Sau đó, vua quay lại và chúc phước lành cho dân trong khi mọi người đều đứng.
Then the king turned around and blessed all the assembly of Israel, while all the assembly of Israel was standing.
15 “Hãy chúc tụng Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, Đấng đã thực hiện lời hứa với cha ta là Đa-vít. Vì Ngài đã phán với cha ta:
He said, “May Yahweh, the God of Israel, be praised, who spoke to David my father, and has fulfilled it with his own hands, saying,
16 ‘Từ ngày đem dân tộc Ít-ra-ên ra khỏi Ai Cập, Ta không chọn nơi nào trong lãnh thổ Ít-ra-ên để dựng Đền Thờ cho Danh Ta, nhưng Ta chọn Đa-vít cai trị dân Ta.’
'Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house, in order for my name to be there. However, I chose David to rule over my people Israel.'
17 Đa-vít, cha ta, muốn cất một đền thờ cho Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên.
Now it was in the heart of David my father to build a house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.
18 Chúa Hằng Hữu nói với Đa-vít: ‘Ta biết con muốn cất một Đền Thờ cho Danh Ta. Dù ý muốn ấy là phải,
But Yahweh said to David my father, 'In that it was in your heart to build a house for my name, you did well for it to be in your heart.
19 nhưng con trai con mới là người thực hiện công tác ấy, chứ không phải con.’
Nevertheless you will not build the house; instead, your son, one who will be born from your loins, will build the house for my name.'
20 Và bây giờ, Chúa Hằng Hữu đã thực hiện điều Ngài hứa, vì ta đã lên ngôi kế vị cha ta là Đa-vít, trị vì Ít-ra-ên, đúng như Chúa đã phán. Ta cũng đã xây cất xong Đền Thờ cho Danh Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên.
Yahweh has carried out the word that he had said, for I have arisen in the place of David my father, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised. I have built the house for the name of Yahweh, the God of Israel.
21 Ta chuẩn bị nơi đặt Hòm, trong đó có giao ước Chúa Hằng Hữu mà Ngài đã lập với tổ tiên chúng ta khi Ngài đem họ ra khỏi Ai Cập.”
I have made a place for the ark there, in which is Yahweh's covenant, which he made with our fathers when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.”
22 Trước mặt dân chúng, Sa-lô-môn đứng trước bàn thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu, đưa hai tay lên trời,
Solomon stood before the altar of Yahweh, before all the assembly of Israel, and spread out his hands toward the heavens.
23 và cầu nguyện: “Lạy Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, không có thần nào trên trời hay dưới đất giống như Đức Chúa Trời. Chúa giữ giao ước và tỏ lòng nhân từ với người hết lòng theo đường lối Chúa.
He said, “Yahweh, God of Israel, there is no God like you in the heavens above or on the earth below, who keeps his covenant faithfulness with your servants who walk before you with all their heart;
24 Chúa đã giữ đúng lời hứa với Đa-vít, đầy tớ Chúa, là cha con. Thật thế, miệng Chúa phán dạy thì tay Chúa đã làm ứng nghiệm như hiện có ngày nay.
you who have kept with your servant David my father, what you promised him. Yes, you spoke with your mouth and have fulfilled it with your hand, as it is today.
25 Bây giờ, lạy Chúa là Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, xin Chúa giữ lời hứa với Đa-vít, là đầy tớ Chúa và là cha con. Vì Ngài đã phán: ‘Nếu con cháu con thận trọng trong nếp sống, và đi theo đường lối Ta như con đã đi, thì trước mặt Ta, con sẽ chẳng bao giờ thiếu người ngồi trên ngôi Ít-ra-ên.’
Now then, Yahweh, God of Israel, carry out what you have promised to your servant David my father, when you said, 'You will not fail to have a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants are careful to walk before me, as you have walked before me.'
26 Lạy Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên, xin Chúa cho lời hứa này cũng được thực hiện.
Now then, God of Israel, let your word be confirmed, which you have spoken to your servant David my father.
27 Phải chăng Đức Chúa Trời sẽ ngự trên mặt đất? Kìa, bầu trời, ngay cả trời của các tầng trời cũng không đủ chỗ cho Chúa ngự, huống chi cái Đền Thờ con đã xây cất!
But will God actually live on the earth? Look, the entire universe and heaven itself cannot contain you—how much less can this temple that I have built!
28 Tuy nhiên, lạy Chúa là Đức Chúa Trời của con, Chúa đã xây lại nghe lời cầu nguyện của đầy tớ Chúa. Chúa đã lắng nghe tiếng nài xin của đầy tớ Ngài đang cầu xin trước mặt Ngài.
Yet please respect this prayer of your servant and his request, Yahweh my God; listen to the cry and prayer that your servant prays before you today.
29 Xin Chúa đêm ngày để mắt trông chừng Đền Thờ này, nơi Ngài có nói đến: ‘Danh Ta ngự tại đây,’ để mỗi khi con hướng về nơi ấy cầu nguyện, Chúa sẽ nghe con.
May your eyes be open toward this temple night and day, to the place about which you have said, 'My name and my presence will be there'—in order to listen to the prayers that your servant will pray toward this place.
30 Xin Chúa lắng nghe lời khẩn cầu con và toàn thể dân Ít-ra-ên khi chúng con hướng về nơi này mà cầu nguyện. Vâng, từ trên trời cao xin Chúa lắng nghe và tha thứ cho chúng con.
So listen to the request of your servant and of your people Israel when we pray toward this place. Yes, listen from the place where you live, from the heavens; and when you listen, forgive.
31 Nếu có người đứng thề trước bàn thờ của nơi này để thanh minh một tội trạng,
If a man sins against his neighbor and is required to swear an oath, and if he comes and swears an oath before your altar in this house,
32 xin Chúa lắng nghe từ trời và xét xử giữa các đầy tớ Chúa—Người buộc tội và người bị buộc tội. Phạt người có tội theo điều họ làm. Ban thưởng người vô tội vì sự vô tội của họ.
listen from the heavens and act. Judge your servants, condemning the guilty and bringing what he has done upon his own head. Declare the innocent not guilty and give to him according to his righteousness.
33 Nếu Ít-ra-ên, dân Chúa vì phạm tội với Chúa bị thất trận trước quân thù, rồi quay về và nhìn nhận Danh Chúa, cầu xin với Chúa trong Đền Thờ này,
When your people Israel are defeated by an enemy because they have sinned against you, if they turn back to you, confess your name, pray, and request forgiveness from you in this temple—
34 xin Ngài từ trời lắng nghe, tha tội cho họ, đem họ về đất này, đất Ngài đã ban cho tổ tiên họ.
then please listen in the heavens and forgive the sin of your people Israel; bring them back to the land that you gave to their ancestors.
35 Khi bầu trời đóng chặt và không có mưa trên đất vì dân Ngài phạm tội với Ngài; và nếu họ hướng về Đền Thờ này, nhìn nhận Danh Chúa, và từ bỏ tội lỗi sau khi bị Chúa hình phạt,
When the skies are shut up and there is no rain because the people have sinned against you—if they pray toward this place, confess your name, and turn from their sin when you have afflicted them—
36 thì xin Chúa từ trời lắng nghe và tha tội cho đầy tớ Ngài, cho Ít-ra-ên, dân Chúa. Xin dạy họ con đường chính đáng, cũng cho mưa sa xuống đất này mà Chúa đã ban cho dân Chúa làm sản nghiệp.
then listen in heaven and forgive the sin of your servants and of your people Israel, when you teach them the good way in which they should walk. Send rain on your land, which you have given to your people as an inheritance.
37 Khi trong nước có nạn đói, nạn dịch, thóc lúa cây cối bị cằn cỗi, bị nấm mốc, bị cào cào cắn phá, hoặc lúc bị quân thù vây hãm, hay bị bất cứ tai nạn, bệnh tật gì khác,
Suppose there is famine in the land, or suppose that there is disease, blight or mildew, locusts or caterpillars; or suppose that an enemy attacks the city gates in their land, or that there is any plague or sickness—
38 nếu có một người hoặc mọi người Ít-ra-ên nhận tội mình, đưa tay hướng về Đền Thờ này cầu nguyện,
and suppose then that prayers and requests are made by a person or by all your people Israel—each knowing the plague in his own heart as he spreads out his hands toward this temple.
39 xin Ngài từ trời lắng nghe, tha tội cho, đối xử với mỗi người tùy theo cách sống của họ, vì chỉ có Chúa biết lòng người.
Then listen from heaven, the place where you live, forgive and act, and reward every person for all he does; you know his heart, because you and you only know the hearts of all human beings.
40 Như thế, họ sẽ kính sợ Chúa trọn đời khi họ sống trong miền đất Chúa ban cho tổ tiên họ.
Do this so that they may fear you all the days that they live on the land that you gave to our ancestors.
41 Trong tương lai, dân nước ngoài không thuộc về con dân Ít-ra-ên của Chúa sẽ nghe về Ngài.
In addition, concerning the foreigner who does not belong to your people Israel: When he comes from a distant country because of your name—
42 Họ sẽ đến đây từ xa khi nghe Danh vĩ đại của Ngài, bàn tay mạnh mẽ của Ngài, và cánh tay quyền năng của Ngài. Và khi họ đưa tay hướng về Đền Thờ cầu nguyện,
for they will hear of your great name, your mighty hand, and your raised arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple,
43 xin Chúa từ trời lắng nghe, nhậm lời họ kêu cầu. Như thế, dân chúng khắp thế giới sẽ nhận biết và kính sợ Chúa cũng như người Ít-ra-ên, và cả thế giới đều biết rằng Danh Chúa được kêu cầu nơi Đền Thờ mà con đã dựng nên.
then please listen from heaven, the place where you live, and do whatever the foreigner asks of you. Do this so that all the peoples on earth may know your name and fear you, as do your own people Israel. Do this so they might know that this house I have built is called by your name.
44 Khi Chúa sai dân Ngài ra trận chiến đấu với quân thù, họ sẽ hướng về thành Chúa Hằng Hữu chọn và Đền con cất cho Ngài để cầu nguyện,
Suppose that your people go out to battle against an enemy, by whatever way you may send them, and suppose that they pray to you, Yahweh, toward the city that you have chosen, and toward the house that I have built for your name.
45 xin Chúa từ trời nghe lời cầu nguyện của họ và bênh vực họ.
Then listen in the heavens to their prayer and their request, and help their cause.
46 Nếu họ phạm tội với Chúa—vì nào ai không phạm tội—khiến Chúa giận, và cho phép quân thù bắt họ làm tù binh dẫn về đất địch, dù xa hay gần.
Suppose that they sin against you, since there is no one who does not sin, and suppose that you are angry with them and deliver them to the enemy, so that the enemy takes them away captive to their land, whether distant or near.
47 Nếu họ hồi tâm, tỏ lòng ăn năn, và kêu xin với Chúa: ‘Chúng con có tội, làm điều tà ác.’
Then suppose that they realize they are in the land where they have been exiled, and suppose that they repent and seek favor from you from the land of their captors. Suppose that they say, 'We have acted perversely and sinned. We have behaved wickedly.'
48 Nếu họ hết lòng thống hối trong khi còn ở trên đất quân thù, hướng về quê hương—xứ Chúa đã cho tổ tiên họ—hướng về thành Chúa chọn và Đền Thờ con xây cất để cầu nguyện với Chúa,
Suppose that they return to you with all their heart and with all their soul in the land of their enemies who captured them, and suppose that they pray to you toward their land, which you gave to their ancestors, and toward the city that you chose, and toward the house that I have built for your name.
49 xin Chúa từ trời lắng nghe lời cầu nguyện nài xin của họ,
Then from heaven, the place where you live, listen to their prayer and their request for help, and you will make matters right for them.
50 tha hết mọi lỗi lầm của họ, bênh vực họ, khiến quân thù có lòng thương xót họ,
Forgive your people who have sinned against you, and all their transgressions that they have committed against you, and make them objects of compassion before their conquerors, and cause their conquerors to have compassion on them.
51 vì họ là dân, là cơ nghiệp của Ngài và được Ngài giải thoát khỏi lò lửa hực của Ai Cập.
They are your people whom you have chosen, whom you rescued out of Egypt as if from the middle of a furnace where iron is forged.
52 Xin Chúa mở mắt nhìn xem và lắng tai nghe họ mỗi khi họ kêu cầu với Chúa.
May your eyes be open to the request of your servant and to the requests of your people Israel, to listen to them whenever they cry to you.
53 Vì khi đem tổ tiên chúng con ra khỏi Ai Cập, Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao có phán bảo Môi-se, đầy tớ Ngài, là Chúa biệt riêng Ít-ra-ên ra khỏi mọi dân tộc để làm tuyển dân của Chúa.”
For you separated them from among all the peoples of the earth to belong to you and receive your promises, just as you explained by Moses your servant, when you brought our fathers out of Egypt, Lord Yahweh.”
54 Lúc cầu nguyện, Sa-lô-môn quỳ gối trước bàn thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu, hai tay đưa thẳng lên trời.
So it was that when Solomon had finished praying all this prayer and request to Yahweh, he arose from before the altar of Yahweh, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread out toward the heavens.
55 Cầu nguyện xong, vua đứng dậy và lớn tiếng chúc phước lành cho toàn thể hội chúng Ít-ra-ên:
He stood and blessed all the assembly of Israel in a loud voice, saying,
56 “Ngợi tôn Chúa Hằng Hữu, vì Ngài cho Ít-ra-ên hưởng thái bình. Mọi lời Chúa hứa qua Môi-se, đầy tớ Ngài, đều được Ngài thực hiện, không sót một điều nào.
“May Yahweh be praised, who has given rest to his people Israel, keeping all his promises. Not one word has failed out of all Yahweh's good promises that he made with Moses his servant.
57 Cầu Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời ở với chúng ta như đã ở với tổ tiên ta; cầu Chúa đừng rời, đừng bỏ chúng ta.
May Yahweh our God be with us, as he was with our ancestors. May he never leave us or forsake us,
58 Cầu cho lòng ta hướng về Chúa, đi theo lối Ngài, tuân giữ các điều răn, luật lệ, và quy tắc Chúa truyền cho tổ tiên ta.
that he may incline our hearts to him, to live in all his ways and keep his commandments and his regulations and his statutes, which he commanded our fathers.
59 Cầu cho những lời cầu nguyện của ta được ngày đêm ở trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu, để mỗi ngày Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta, giúp chúng ta trong mọi nhu cầu.
Let these words I have spoken, by which I have made request before Yahweh, be near Yahweh our God day and night, so that he may help the cause of his servant and the cause of his people Israel, as every day will require;
60 Như vậy, khắp đất mới biết Chúa Hằng Hữu là Đức Chúa Trời, chẳng có Đức Chúa Trời nào khác.
that all the peoples of the earth may know that Yahweh, he is God, and there is no other God!
61 Về phần anh chị em, phải hết lòng trung thành với Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời chúng ta, tuân giữ luật lệ và điều răn của Ngài, như anh chị em hiện đang tuân giữ.”
Therefore let your heart be true to Yahweh our God, to walk in his statutes and keep his commandments, as on this day.”
62 Sau đó, vua và người Ít-ra-ên dâng sinh tế lên Chúa Hằng Hữu.
So the king and all Israel with him offered sacrifices to Yahweh.
63 Sa-lô-môn dâng sinh tế lên Chúa Hằng Hữu gồm 22.000 con bò và 120.000 con chiên làm lễ vật tạ ơn Ngài.
Solomon offered a sacrifice of fellowship offerings to Yahweh: twenty-two thousand oxen and 120,000 sheep. So the king and all the people of Israel dedicated the house of Yahweh.
64 Hôm ấy, vua để riêng phần giữa sân, ngay trước Đền Thờ của Chúa Hằng Hữu làm nơi dâng lễ thiêu, ngũ cốc, và mỡ của lễ vật tạ ơn, vì bàn thờ đồng không đủ chứa các lễ vật này.
The same day the king set apart the middle of the courtyard in front of the temple of Yahweh, for there he offered the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the fat of the fellowship offerings, because the bronze altar that was before Yahweh was too small to receive the burnt offering, the grain offerings, and the fat of the fellowship offerings.
65 Vậy, Sa-lô-môn và người Ít-ra-ên từ khắp nơi, từ cổng Ha-mát cho đến Suối Ai Cập, lũ lượt kéo đến trước mặt Chúa Hằng Hữu trong bảy ngày, và họ kéo dài thêm bảy ngày nữa.
So Solomon held the feast at that time, and all Israel with him, a great assembly, from Lebo Hamath to the brook of Egypt, before Yahweh our God for seven days and also for another seven days, a total of fourteen days.
66 Ngày thứ tám, vua cho dân về. Họ chúc phước lành cho vua và lên đường. Trên đường về, lòng họ rộn rã vui mừng về mọi điều tốt đẹp Chúa Hằng Hữu làm cho Đa-vít, đầy tớ Ngài, và cho Ít-ra-ên, dân Ngài.
On the eighth day he sent the people away, and they blessed the king and went to their homes with joyful and glad hearts for all the goodness that Yahweh had shown to David, his servant, and to Israel, his people.
