1 Ru-bên là trưởng nam của Ít-ra-ên. Nhưng từ khi ông làm xúc phạm cha mình vì đã ngủ với một trong các vợ lẽ của cha, quyền trưởng nam của ông được giao cho Giô-sép. Vì lý do đó, Ru-bên không được ghi vào gia phả như là con trưởng.
Also, there were the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel. For indeed, he was his firstborn, but when he had violated the bed of his father, his right as firstborn was given to the sons of Joseph, the son of Israel, and he was not reputed as firstborn.
2 Về sau, dòng dõi Giu-đa trở nên cường thịnh nhất, vua chúa cũng từ ông mà ra, nhưng quyền trưởng nam vẫn thuộc về Giô-sép.
Moreover, Judah, who was strongest among his brothers, from his stock leaders sprung up, but the right of firstborn was reputed to Joseph.
3 Các con của Ru-bên, trưởng nam của Ít-ra-ên, là Hê-nóc, Pha-lu, Hết-rôn, và Cát-mi.
So then, the sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi.
4 Dòng dõi của Giô-ên là Sê-ma-gia, Gót, Si-mê-i,
The sons of Joel: Shemaiah his son, Gog his son, Shimei his son,
5 Mi-ca, Rê-a-gia, Ba-anh,
Micah his son, Reaiah his son, Baal his son,
6 và Bê-ê-ra. Bê-rê-a là một nhà lãnh đạo đại tộc Ru-bên, về sau bị Tiết-lát Phi-nê-se, vua A-sy-ri bắt đem đi đày.
Beerah his son, whom Tilgath-pilneser, the king of the Assyrians, led away captive, and he was a leader in the tribe of Reuben.
7 Họ hàng của Bê-ê-ra cũng được ghi vào gia phả: Trưởng tộc Giê-i-ên, Xa-cha-ri,
Now his brothers and all his kindred, when they were being numbered according to their families, had as leaders Jeiel and Zechariah.
8 và Bê-la là con của A-xa, cháu Sê-ma, chắt Giô-ên. Họ ở trong một miền từ A-rô-e cho đến Nê-bô và Ba-anh Mê-ôn.
Now Bela, the son of Azaz, the son of Shema, the son of Joel, lived in Aroer, as far as Nebo and Baalmeon.
9 Vì họ có quá nhiều gia súc trên đất Ga-la-át nên họ phải chiếm đất từ phía đông hoang mạc đến tận Sông Ơ-phơ-rát.
And he lived toward the eastern region, as far as the entrance to the wilderness and the river Euphrates. For indeed, they possessed a great number of cattle in the land of Gilead.
10 Dưới đời Sau-lơ, người Ru-bên chiến thắng người Ha-ga-rít, chiếm cứ lều trại của dân này tại các vùng phía đông Ga-la-át.
Then, in the days of Saul, they battled against the Hagarites and put them to death. And they lived in place of them, in their dwellings, throughout the entire region that looks to the east of Gilead.
11 Sống cạnh người Ru-bên có người Gát ở từ Ba-san cho đến Sanh-ca.
Truly, the sons of Gad lived in the opposite region from them, in the land of Bashan, as far as Salecah:
12 Tại Ba-san có Giô-ên làm trưởng tộc, Sa-pham làm phụ tá, rồi đến Gia-nai và Sa-phát.
Joel the head, and Shapham the second, then Janai and Shaphat, in Bashan.
13 Trong vòng họ hàng của những người này còn có bảy nhà lãnh đạo là Mi-ca-ên, Mê-su-lam, Sê-ba, Giô-rai, Gia-can, Xia, và Ê-be.
Truly, their brothers, according to the houses of their kindred, were: Michael, and Meshullam, and Sheba, and Jorai, and Jacan, and Zia, and Eber, seven.
14 Tổ tiên của những người này từ đời Bu-xơ, theo thứ tự Giác-đô, Giê-si-sai, Mi-ca-ên, Ga-la-át, Gia-rô-a, Hu-ri, và A-bi-hai.
These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Huri, the son of Jaroah, the son of Gilead, the son of Michael, the son of Jeshishai, the son of Jahdo, the son of Buz,
15 A-hi, con Áp-đi-ên, cháu Gu-ni, là trưởng họ.
along with their brothers, the sons of Abdiel, the son of Guni, the leader of the house, in their families,
16 Họ này ở tại Ga-la-át thuộc Ba-san và các miền đồng cỏ Sa-rôn.
And they lived in Gilead, and in Bashan and its towns, and in all the suburbs of Sharon, as far as the borders.
17 Tên của những người này được chép trong gia phả vào đời Giô-tham, vua Giu-đa và đời Giê-rô-bô-am, vua Ít-ra-ên.
All these were numbered in the days of Jotham, the king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, the king of Israel:
18 Đại tộc Ru-bên, Gát, và nửa đại tộc Ma-na-se có 44.760 lính tinh nhuệ. Họ là những người có khả năng chiến đấu, tinh thần dũng cảm, được trang bị cung, gươm, và khiên đầy đủ.
the sons of Reuben, and of Gad, and the one half tribe of Manasseh, men of war, carrying shields and swords, and bending the bow, and trained for battle, forty-four thousand and seven hundred sixty, advancing to the fight.
19 Họ tranh chiến với các dân tộc Ha-ga-rít, Giê-thu, Na-phích, và Nô-đáp.
They struggled against the Hagarites, yet truly the Jetureans, and Naphish, and Nodab offered assistance to them.
20 Họ kêu cầu Đức Chúa Trời suốt trận chiến và được Ngài giúp đỡ vì họ có đức tin. Họ đánh bại người Ha-ga-rít và liên minh địch.
And the Hagarites were delivered into their hands, and all who were with them. For they called upon God while they did battle. And he heeded them, because they had trusted in him.
21 Họ bắt được 50.000 lạc đà, 250.000 chiên, 2.000 lừa và 100.000 người.
And they seized all that they possessed, of camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred fifty thousand, and of donkeys two thousand, and of men one hundred thousand lives.
22 Nhiều người Ha-ga-rít bị giết trong trận chiến vì Đức Chúa Trời chống lại họ. Vậy, người Ru-bên, Gát, và Ma-na-se chiếm cứ đất, ở đó cho đến ngày bị đày.
And many fell down wounded. For it was a war of the Lord. And they lived in place of them, until the transmigration.
23 Người của nửa đại tộc Ma-na-se ở từ Ba-san cho đến tận Ba-anh Hẹt-môn, Sê-nia, và Núi Hẹt-môn. Họ đông vô số.
Also, the sons of the one half tribe of Manasseh possessed the land, from the parts of Bashan as far as Baal, Hermon, and Sanir, and Mount Hermon. For certainly, their number was immense.
24 Người Ma-na-se có các tộc trưởng sau đây: Ê-phe, Di-si, Ê-li-ên, Ách-ri-ên, Giê-rê-mi, Hô-đa-via, và Giắc-đi-ên. Họ đều là những chiến sĩ dũng mãnh, những nhà lãnh đạo danh tiếng.
And these were leaders of the house of their kindred: Epher, and Ishi, and Eliel, and Azriel, and Jeremiah, and Hodaviah, and Jahdiel, very valiant and powerful men, and renowned leaders in their families.
25 Nhưng họ bất trung cùng Đức Chúa Trời của tổ tiên, thờ các thần của những thổ dân đã bị Đức Chúa Trời tiêu diệt và lấy đất cho họ ở.
But they abandoned the God of their fathers, and they fornicated after the gods of the peoples of the land, whom God took away before them.
26 Vì thế, Đức Chúa Trời của Ít-ra-ên xui khiến vua A-sy-ri là Bun, cũng gọi là Tiếc-lát Phi-nê-se, đến đánh, bắt người Ru-bên, Gát và nửa đại tộc Ma-na-se đày sang Ha-la, Cha-bo, Ha-ra, và bên Sông Gô-xan, họ còn ở đó cho đến nay.
And so the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Pul, the king of the Assyrians, and the spirit of Tilgath-pilneser, the king of Assur. And he took away Reuben, and Gad, and the one half tribe of Manasseh. And he led them to Halah, and to Habor, and to Hara, and to the river of Gozan, even to this day.
