I Sử Ký 20

1 Vào mùa xuân, là mùa các vua thường mở các cuộc chinh chiến, Giô-áp chỉ huy quân Ít-ra-ên tấn công và tàn phá đất Am-môn, trong khi Vua Đa-vít còn ở lại Giê-ru-sa-lem. Giô-áp cũng tấn công và hủy phá thành Ráp-ba.

In the spring, at the time when kings march out to war, Joab led out the army and ravaged the land of the Ammonites. He came to Rabbah and besieged it, but David remained in Jerusalem. And Joab attacked Rabbah and demolished it.

2 Đa-vít lấy vương miện trên đầu vua Am-môn đội trên đầu mình. Vương miện này nặng khoảng 34 ký vàng, có cẩn nhiều châu ngọc. Đa-vít thu được rất nhiều chiến lợi phẩm.

3 Ông bắt dân trong thành Ráp-ba phải làm việc bằng cưa, rìu, hoặc bừa sắt. Đa-vít đối xử như thế với dân các thành khác trong xứ Am-môn. Xong cuộc viễn chinh, Đa-vít và toàn quân trở về Giê-ru-sa-lem.

David brought out the people who were there and put them to work with saws, iron picks, and axes. And he did the same to all the Ammonite cities. Then David and all his troops returned to Jerusalem.

4 Sau đó, chiến tranh lại bùng nổ tại Ghê-xe với Phi-li-tin. Si-bê-cai, người Hu-sa giết được một người khổng lồ của Phi-li-tin tên là Síp-bai nên Phi-li-tin chịu hàng phục.

7 Nhưng người này nhục mạ Ít-ra-ên, rốt cuộc bị Giô-na-than, con Si-mê-a, cháu Đa-vít, giết.

and when he taunted Israel, Jonathan the son of David’s brother Shimei killed him.

8 Những người này thuộc giống khổng lồ ở Gát, xứ Phi-li-tin, đều bị Đa-vít và các tướng lãnh của vua tiêu diệt.

So these descendants of Rapha in Gath fell at the hands of David and his servants.
