1 Теманлиқ Елифаз буниңға җававән мундақ деди: —
Then answered Eliphaz the Temanite, and said:
2 Данишмән кишиниң қуруқ шамалдәк сәпсәтә билән җавап бериши тоғриму? [Данишмән] қосиғини иссиқ мәшриқ шамили билән тойғузса боламду?
Should a wise man make answer with windy knowledge, and fill his belly with the east wind?
3 Пайдисиз сөзләр билән, Тайини йоқ гәпләр билән муназирилишиши мувапиқму?
Should he reason with unprofitable talk, or with speeches wherewith he can do no good?
4 Бәрһәқ, сән иман-ихласни йоқ қиливәтмәкчисән, Худаниң алдида дуа-истиқамәткә тосалғу болисән.
Yea, thou doest away with fear, and impairest devotion before God.
5 Чүнки қәбиһлигиң ағзиңға сөз салиду, Сән мәккарларниң тилини таллап қоллинисән.
For thine iniquity teacheth thy mouth, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
6 Мән әмәс, бәлки өз ағзиң өзүңниң гунайиңни бекитиду, Өз ләвлириң саңа қарши гувалиқ бериду.
Thine own mouth condemneth thee, and not I; yea, thine own lips testify against thee.
7 Сән инсанлар ичидә тунҗа болуп туғулғанму? Сән тағ-даванлардин авал апиридә болғанму?
Art thou the first man that was born? Or wast thou brought forth before the hills?
8 Тәңриниң мәхпий кеңишини аңлап кәлгәнмусән? Даналиқ сән биләнла чәклинәмду?
Dost thou hearken in the council of God? And dost thou restrain wisdom to thyself?
9 Сән билгәнләрни бизниң билмәйдиғанлиримиз барму? Сән чүшәнгәнни бизниң чүшәнмәйдиғинимиз барму?
What knowest thou, that we know not? What understandest thou, which is not in us?
10 Ақсақаллар һәм қерилар бизниң тәрипимиздә туриду, Улар сениң атаңдинму яшта чоңдур.
With us are both the gray-headed and the very aged men, much older than thy father.
11 Тәңриниң тәсәллилири, Йәни саңа мулайимлиқ билән ейтқан мошу сөз сән үчүн азлиқ қиламду?
Are the consolations of God too small for thee, and the word that dealeth gently with thee?
12 Немишкә көңүлниң кәйнигә кирип кетисән? Көзүңни немигә пақиритисән?
Why doth thy heart carry thee away? And why do thine eyes wink?
13 Шундақ қилип сән роһуңни Тәңригә қарши турғуздуң, Еғизиңдин шундақ сөзләрниң чиқишиға йол қоюватисән!
That thou turnest thy spirit against God, and lettest such words go out of thy mouth.
14 Инсан немә еди? Өз-өзини паклалиғидәк? Анидин туғулған адәм балиси немә еди? Һәққаний болалиғидәк?
What is man, that he should be clean? And he that is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
15 Қара, [Худа] Өз муқәддәслиригиму ишәнмигән йәрдә, Асманларму униң нәзиридә пак болмиған йәрдә,
Behold, He putteth no trust in His holy ones; yea, the heavens are not clean in His sight.
16 Жиркинчлик болған, сесип кәткән, Қәбиһликни су ичкәндәк ичидиған инсан балиси зади қандақ болар?
How much less one that is abominable and impure, man who drinketh iniquity like water!
17 Мән саңа көрситәй, маңа қулақ сал; Көзүм көргәнни баян қилмақчимән.
I will tell thee, hear thou me; and that which I have seen I will declare —
18 Данишмәнләр ата-бовилиридин буларни аңлиған, Йошурмай буларни баян қилған: —
Which wise men have told from their fathers, and have not hid it;
19 (Пәқәт шуларғила, [йәни ата-бовилириғила] йәр-зимин тапшурулған еди, Уларниң арисидин ят адәм өтүшкә петиналмайтти)
Unto whom alone the land was given, and no stranger passed among them.
20 — Рәзил адәм барлиқ күнлиридә азаплиниду, Залим кишигә жиллар санақлиқла бекитилгәндур.
The wicked man travaileth with pain all his days, even the number of years that are laid up for the oppressor.
21 Униң қулиқиға вәһимиләрниң авази кириду, Баяшатлиғида булаңчи униң устигә бесип чүшиду.
A sound of terrors is in his ears: in prosperity the destroyer shall come upon him.
22 Қараңғулуқтин қутулушқа униң көзи йәтмәйду, У қилич билән чепилишқа сақланғандур.
He believeth not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for of the sword.
23 У аш издәп: «Зади нәдин тепилар?» дәп йолда тенәп жүриду, У зулмәт күниниң униңға йеқинлашқанлиғини билиду.
He wandereth abroad for bread: 'Where is it?' He knoweth that the day of darkness is ready at his hand.
24 Дәрд-әләм һәм азап униңға вәһимә қилиду, Һуҗумға тәйяр болған падишадәк униң үстидин ғәлибә қилиду.
Distress and anguish overwhelm him; they prevail against him, as a king ready to the battle.
25 Чүнки у Тәңригә қарши қолини көтәргән, Һәммигә қадирға күч көрсәтмәкчи болған,
Because he hath stretched out his hand against God, and behaveth himself proudly against the Almighty;
26 Шуңа у бойнини қаттиқ қилип, Көп қәвәтлик қалқанни көтирип униңға қарап етилиду.
He runneth upon him with a stiff neck, with the thick bosses of his bucklers.
27 Йүзини яғ басқан болсиму, Беқинлири сәмрәп кәткән болсиму,
Because he hath covered his face with his fatness, and made collops of fat on his loins;
28 У харабә шәһәрләрдә, Адәм қонғуси кәлмәйдиған, Кесәк дүвилири болушқа бекитилгән өйләрдә яшайду;
And he hath dwelt in desolate cities, in houses which no man would inhabit, which were ready to become heaps.
29 У һеч бейимайду, Униң мал-мүлки болса үзүлүп қалиду, Униң тәәллуқатлири зимин үстидә кеңәймәйду.
He shall not be rich, neither shall his substance continue, neither shall their produce bend to the earth.
30 У қараңғулуқтин қечип қутулалмайду, Ялқун униң шахлирини көйдүрүп қурутиду, [Худаниң] бир нәпәси билән у [дуниядин] кетиду.
He shall not depart out of darkness; the flame shall dry up his branches, and by the breath of His mouth shall he go away.
31 У сахтилиққа таянмисун! У алдинип кәткән, шуңа сахтилиқниң өзи униң инъами болиду;
Let him not trust in vanity, deceiving himself; for vanity shall be his recompense.
32 Униң күни техи тошмай турупла, Униң шехи техи көкирип болмайла, бу ишлар әмәлгә ашурулиду.
It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be leafy.
33 Үзүм тели силкинип, тоң үзүмләр чүшүрүветилгәндәк, Зәйтун дәриғиниң чечиги ечилипла төкүлүп кәткәндәк болиду.
He shall shake off his unripe grape as the vine, and shall cast off his flower as the olive.
34 Чүнки ипласларниң җәмәти туғмас болиду, От пара йегәнләрниң чедирлирини көйдүриветиду.
For the company of the godless shall be desolate, and fire shall consume the tents of bribery.
35 [Бирақ] улар [һәрдайим] яманлиқни ойлап, қәбиһлик туғдуриду, Көңлидә һаман һейлә-микир тәйярлайду.
They conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity, and their belly prepareth deceit.
