ज़बूर 140
1 ऐ ख़ुदावन्द! मुझे बुरे आदमी से रिहाई बख़्श; मुझे टेढ़े आदमी से महफूज़ रख।
“To the chief musician, a psalm of David.” Deliver me, O Lord, from an evil man; from a man of violence do thou keep me;
2 जो दिल में शरारत के मन्सूबे बाँधते हैं; वह हमेशा मिलकर जंग के लिए जमा' हो जाते हैं।
Who think over evil [resolves] in their heart, [who] every day are gathered together for war.
3 उन्होंने अपनी ज़बान साँप की तरह तेज़ कर रखी है। उनके होटों के नीचे अज़दहा का ज़हर है।
They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent: the poison of the adder is under their lips. (Selah)
4 ऐ ख़ुदावन्द! मुझे शरीर के हाथ से बचा मुझे टेढ़े आदमी से महफूज़ रख, जिनका इरादा है कि मेरे पाँव उखाड़ दें।
Preserve me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked, from the man of violence do thou keep me, who think of overthrowing my steps.
5 मग़रूरों ने मेरे लिए फंदे और रस्सियों को छिपाया है, उन्होंने राह के किनारे जाल लगाया है; उन्होंने मेरे लिए दाम बिछा रख्खे हैं। (सिलाह)
The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the side of [my] track; traps have they set for me. (Selah)
6 मैंने ख़ुदावन्द से कहा, मेरा ख़ुदा तू ही है। ऐ ख़ुदावन्द, मेरी इल्तिजा की आवाज़ पर कान लगा।
I have said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: give ear, O Lord, to the voice of my supplications.
7 ऐ ख़ुदावन्द मेरे मालिक, ऐ मेरी नजात की ताक़त, तूने जंग के दिन मेरे सिर पर साया किया है।
O thou Eternal Lord, the strength of my salvation, thou hast covered my head on the day of battle.
8 ऐ ख़ुदावन्द, शरीर की मुराद पूरी न कर, उसके बुरे मन्सूबे को अंजाम न दे ताकि वह डींग न मारे। (सिलाह)
Grant not, O Lord, the longings of the wicked; suffer not his wicked device to succeed: lest they exalt themselves. (Selah)
9 मुझे घेरने वालों की मुँह के शरारत, उन्हीं के सिर पर पड़े।
[As for] the heads of those that encompass me about, let the mischief of their own lips cover them.
10 उन पर अंगारे गिरें! वह आग में डाले जाएँ! और ऐसे गढ़ों में कि फिर न उठे।
Let burning coals be cast upon them: let them be thrown into the fire; into deep pits, that they rise not up again.
11 बदज़बान आदमी की ज़मीन पर क़याम न होगा। आफ़त टेढ़े आदमी को दौड़ा कर हलाक करेगी।
Let not the man of an [evil] tongue be established on the earth: may evil hunt down the violent man to his downfall.
12 मैं जानता हूँ कि ख़ुदावन्द मुसीब तज़दा के मु'आमिले की, और मोहताज के हक़ की ताईद करेगा।
I know that the Lord will procure right for the afflicted, [and] justice for the needy.
13 यक़ीनन सादिक़ तेरे नाम का शुक्र करेंगे, और रास्तबाज़ तेरे सामने में रहेंगे।
Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell before thy presence.
