1 मैं अपनी आँखें पहाड़ों की तरफ उठाऊगा; मेरी मदद कहाँ से आएगी?

A Canticle in steps. I have lifted up my eyes to the mountains; from thence help will come to me.

2 मेरी मदद ख़ुदावन्द से है, जिसने आसमान और ज़मीन को बनाया।

My help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

3 वह तेरे पाँव को फिसलने न देगा; तेरा मुहाफ़िज़ ऊँघने का नहीं।

May he not allow your foot to be moved, and may he not slumber, who guards you.

4 देख! इस्राईल का मुहाफ़िज़, न ऊँघेगा, न सोएगा।

Behold, he who guards Israel will neither sleep, nor slumber.

5 ख़ुदावन्द तेरा मुहाफ़िज़ है; ख़ुदावन्द तेरे दहने हाथ पर तेरा सायबान है।

The Lord is your keeper, the Lord is your protection, above your right hand.

6 न आफ़ताब दिन को तुझे नुक़सान पहुँचाएगा, न माहताब रात को।

The sun will not burn you by day, nor the moon by night.

7 ख़ुदावन्द हर बला से तुझे महफूज़ रख्खेगा, वह तेरी जान को महफूज़ रख्खेगा।

The Lord guards you from all evil. May the Lord guard your soul.

8 ख़ुदावन्द तेरी आमद — ओ — रफ़्त में, अब से हमेशा तक तेरी हिफ़ाज़त करेगा।

May the Lord guard your entrance and your exit, from this time forward and even forever.
