अम्सा 10
1 सुलेमान की अम्साल। अक़्लमंद बेटा बाप को ख़ुश रखता है, लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ बेटा अपनी माँ का ग़म है।
The Proverbs of Solomon. A wise son maketh a glad father, But a foolish son is the grief of his mother.
2 शरारत के ख़ज़ाने बेकार हैं, लेकिन सदाक़त मौत से छुड़ाती है।
Treasures of wickedness do not profit; But righteousness delivereth from death.
3 ख़ुदावन्द सादिक़ की जान को फ़ाक़ा न करने देगा, लेकिन शरीरों की हवस को दूर — ओ — दफ़ा' करेगा।
The LORD will not suffer the righteous to famish; But he disappointeth the craving of the wicked.
4 जो ढीले हाथ से काम करता है, कंगाल हो जाता है; लेकिेन मेहनती का हाथ दौलतमंद बना देता है।
He that worketh with a slack hand becometh poor; But the hand of the diligent maketh rich.
5 वह जो गर्मी में जमा' करता है, 'अक़्लमंद बेटा है; लेकिन वह बेटा जो दिरौ के वक़्त सोता रहता है, शर्म का ज़रिया' है।
He that gathereth in summer is a wise son; But he that sleepeth in harvest is a son causing shame.
6 सादिक़ के सिर पर बरकतें होती हैं, लेकिन शरीरों के मुँह को जु़ल्म ढाँकता है।
Blessings are upon the head of the just; But the mouth of the wicked concealeth violence.
7 रास्त आदमी की यादगार मुबारक है, लेकिन शरीरों का नाम सड़ जाएगा।
The memory of the righteous man shall be blessed; But the name of the wicked shall rot.
8 'अक़्लमंद दिल फ़रमान बजा लाएगा, लेकिन बकवासी बेवक़ूफ़ पछाड़ खाएगा।
He who is wise in heart receiveth precepts; But the foolish talker falleth headlong.
9 रास्त रौ बेखट के चलता है, लेकिन जो कजरवी करता है ज़ाहिर हो जाएगा।
He that walketh uprightly walketh securely; But he that perverteth his ways shall be punished.
10 आँख मारने वाला रंज पहुँचाता है, और बकवासी बेवक़ूफ़ पछाड़ खाएगा।
He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow; And a foolish talker falleth headlong.
11 सादिक़ का मुँह ज़िन्दगी का चश्मा है, लेकिन शरीरों के मुँह को जु़ल्म ढाँकता है।
The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life; But the mouth of the wicked concealeth violence.
12 'अदावत झगड़े पैदा करती है, लेकिन मुहब्बत सब ख़ताओं को ढाँक देती है।
Hatred stirreth up strife; But love covereth all offences.
13 'अक़्लमंद के लबों पर हिकमत है, लेकिन बे'अक़्ल की पीठ के लिए लठ है।
Upon the lips of a man of understanding wisdom is found; But a rod is for the back of him that lacketh understanding.
14 'अक़्लमंद आदमी 'इल्म जमा' करते हैं, लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ का मुँह क़रीबी हलाकत है।
Wise men treasure up knowledge; But the mouth of the foolish is destruction close at hand.
15 दौलतमंद की दौलत उसका मज़बूत शहर है, कंगाल की हलाकत उसी की तंगदस्ती है।
The rich man's wealth is his strong city; The destruction of the poor is their poverty.
16 सादिक़ की मेहनत ज़िन्दगानी का ज़रिया' है, शरीर की इक़बालमंदी गुनाह कराती है।
The earnings of the righteous minister to life; The revenues of the wicked, to sin.
17 तरबियत पज़ीर ज़िन्दगी की राह पर है, लेकिन मलामत को छोड़ने वाला गुमराह हो जाता है।
He that keepeth instruction is in the path of life; But he that refuseth reproof goeth astray.
18 'अदावत को छिपाने वाला दरोग़गो है, और तोहमत लगाने वाला बेवक़ूफ़है।
He that hideth hatred hath lying lips; And he that uttereth slander is a fool.
19 कलाम की कसरत ख़ता से ख़ाली नहीं, लेकिन होंटों को क़ाबू में रखने वाला 'अक़्लमंद है।
In the multitude of words there wanteth not offence; But he who restraineth his lips is wise.
20 सादिक़ की ज़बान खालिस चाँदी है; शरीरों के दिल बेक़द्र हैं
The tongue of the righteous is as choice silver; The understanding of the wicked is of little worth.
21 सादिक़ के होंट बहुतों को गिज़ा पहुँचाते है लेकिन बेवक़ूफ़ बे'अक़्ली से मरते हैं।
The lips of the righteous feed many; But fools die through want of wisdom.
22 ख़ुदावन्द ही की बरकत दौलत बख़्शती है, और वह उसके साथ दुख नहीं मिलाता।
It is the blessing of the LORD that maketh rich, And he addeth no sorrow with it.
23 बेवक़ूफ़ के लिए शरारत खेल है, लेकिन हिकमत 'अक़्लमंद के लिए है।
It is as sport to a fool to do mischief; But a man of understanding hath wisdom.
24 शरीर का ख़ौफ़ उस पर आ पड़ेगा, और सादिक़ों की मुराद पूरी होगी।
The fear of the wicked shall come upon him; But the desire of the righteous shall be granted.
25 जब बगोला गुज़रता है तो शरीर हलाक हो जाता है, लेकिन सादिक़ हमेशा की बुनियाद है।
When the whirlwind passeth by, the wicked is no more; But the righteous is an everlasting foundation.
26 जैसा दाँतों के लिए सिरका, और आँखों के लिए धुआँ वैसा ही काहिल अपने भेजने वालों के लिए है।
As vinegar to the teeth, and as smoke to the eyes, So is the sluggard to them that send him.
27 ख़ुदावन्द का ख़ौफ़' उम्र की दराज़ी बख़्शता है लेकिन शरीरों की ज़िन्दगी कोताह कर दी जायेगी।
The fear of the LORD prolongeth life; But the years of the wicked shall be shortened.
28 सादिक़ो की उम्मीद ख़ुशी लाएगी लेकिन शरीरों की उम्मीद ख़ाक में मिल जाएगी।
The hope of the righteous shall be gladness: But the expectation of the wicked shall come to nothing.
29 ख़ुदावन्द की राह रास्तबाज़ों के लिए पनाहगाह लेकिन बदकिरादारों के लिए हलाक़त है,
The way of the LORD is a stronghold for the upright, But destruction for those who do iniquity.
30 सादिक़ों को कभी जुम्बिश न होगी लेकिन शरीर ज़मीन पर क़ाईम नहीं रहेंगे।
The righteous shall never be moved; But the wicked shall not dwell in the land.
31 सादिक़ के मुँह से हिकमत निकलती है लेकिन झूठी ज़बान काट डाली जायेगी।
The mouth of the righteous man yieldeth wisdom; But the perverse tongue shall be cut off.
32 सादिक़ के होंट पसन्दीदा बात से आशना है लेकिन शरीरों के मुंह झूट से।
The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable; But the mouth of the wicked what is perverse.
