मत्ती 5
1 वो इस भीड़ को देख कर ऊँची जगह पर चढ़ गया। और जब बैठ गया तो उस के शागिर्द उस के पास आए।
But, seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain, —and, when he had taken a seat, his disciples came unto him;
2 और वो अपनी ज़बान खोल कर उन को यूँ ता'लीम देने लगा।
and, opening his mouth, he began teaching them, saying: —
3 मुबारिक़ हैं वो जो दिल के ग़रीब हैं क्यूँकि आस्मान की बादशाही उन्हीं की है।
Happy, the destitute, in spirit; for, theirs, is the kingdom of the heavens;
4 मुबारिक़ हैं वो जो ग़मगीन हैं, क्यूँकि वो तसल्ली पाएँगे।
Happy, they who mourn; for, they, shall be comforted:
5 मुबारिक़ हैं वो जो हलीम हैं, क्यूँकि वो ज़मीन के वारिस होंगे।
Happy, the meek; for, they, shall inherit the earth:
6 मुबारिक़ हैं वो जो रास्तबाज़ी के भूखे और प्यासे हैं, क्यूँकि वो सेर होंगे।
Happy, they who hunger and thirst for righteousness; for, they, shall be filled:
7 मुबारिक़ हैं वो जो रहमदिल हैं, क्यूँकि उन पर रहम किया जाएगा।
Happy, the merciful; for, they, shall receive mercy:
8 मुबारिक़ हैं वो जो पाक दिल हैं, क्यूँकि वह ख़ुदा को देखेंगे।
Happy, the pure, in heart; for, they, shall, see God:
9 मुबारिक़ हैं वो जो सुलह कराते हैं, क्यूँकि वह ख़ुदा के बेटे कहलाएँगे।
Happy, the peacemakers; for, they, shall be, called sons of God:
10 मुबारिक़ हैं वो जो रास्तबाज़ी की वजह से सताए गए हैं, क्यूँकि आस्मान की बादशाही उन्हीं की है।
Happy, they who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake; for, theirs, is the kingdom of the heavens.
11 जब लोग मेरी वजह से तुम को लान — तान करेंगे, और सताएँगे; और हर तरह की बुरी बातें तुम्हारी निस्बत नाहक़ कहेंगे; तो तुम मुबारिक़ होगे।
Happy, are ye, whensoever they may reproach you and persecute you, and say every evil thing against you, falsely, for my sake:
12 ख़ुशी करना और निहायत शादमान होना क्यूँकि आस्मान पर तुम्हारा अज्र बड़ा है। इसलिए कि लोगों ने उन नबियों को जो तुम से पहले थे, इसी तरह सताया था।
Rejoice and exult, because, your reward, is great in the heavens; for, so, persecuted they the prophets who were before you.
13 तुम ज़मीन के नमक हो। लेकिन अगर नमक का मज़ा जाता रहे तो वो किस चीज़ से नमकीन किया जाएगा? फिर वो किसी काम का नहीं सिवा इस के कि बाहर फेंका जाए और आदमियों के पैरों के नीचे रौंदा जाए।
Ye, are the salt of the earth; but, if the salt become tasteless, wherewith shall it be salted? it is good, for nothing, any more, save, being cast out, to be trampled on by men.
14 तुम दुनिया के नूर हो। जो शहर पहाड़ पर बसा है वो छिप नहीं सकता।
Ye, are the light of the world: it is impossible for a city to be hid, on the top of a mountain, lying.
15 और चिराग़ जलाकर पैमाने के नीचे नहीं बल्कि चिराग़दान पर रखते हैं; तो उस से घर के सब लोगों को रोशनी पहुँचती है।
Neither light they a lamp, and place it under the measure; but upon the lampstand, and it giveth light to all that are in the house.
16 इसी तरह तुम्हारी रोशनी आदमियों के सामने चमके, ताकि वो तुम्हारे नेक कामों को देखकर तुम्हारे बाप की जो आसमान पर है बड़ाई करें।
In like manner, let your light shine before men, —that they may see your good works, —and glorify your Father who is in the heavens.
17 “ये न समझो कि मैं तौरेत या नबियों की किताबों को मन्सूख़ करने आया हूँ, मन्सूख़ करने नहीं बल्कि पूरा करने आया हूँ।
Do not think, that I came to pull down the law, or the prophets, —I came not to pull down, but to fulfil.
18 क्यूँकि मैं तुम से सच कहता हूँ, जब तक आस्मान और ज़मीन टल न जाएँ, एक नुक़्ता या एक शोशा तौरेत से हरगिज़ न टलेगा जब तक सब कुछ पूरा न हो जाए।
For, verily, I say unto you, until the heaven and the earth shall pass away, one least letter, or one point, may in nowise pass away from the law, till all be accomplished.
19 पस जो कोई इन छोटे से छोटे हुक्मों में से किसी भी हुक्म को तोड़ेगा, और यही आदमियों को सिखाएगा। वो आसमान की बादशाही में सब से छोटा कहलाएगा; लेकिन जो उन पर अमल करेगा, और उन की ता'लीम देगा; वो आसमान की बादशाही में बड़ा कहलाएगा।
Whosoever, therefore, shall relax one of these commandments, the least, and teach men so, shall be called, least, in the kingdom of the heavens; but, whosoever shall do and teach, the same, shall be called, great, in the kingdom of the heavens.
20 क्यूँकि मैं तुम से कहता हूँ, कि अगर तुम्हारी रास्तबाज़ी आलिमों और फ़रीसियों की रास्तबाज़ी से ज़्यादा न होगी, तो तुम आसमान की बादशाही में हरगिज़ दाख़िल न होगे।”
For I say unto you, that, unless your righteousness exceed that of the Scribes and Pharisees, in nowise, may ye enter into the kingdom of the heavens.
21 तुम सुन चुके हो कि अगलों से कहा गया था कि ख़ून ना करना जो कोई ख़ून करेगा वो 'अदालत की सज़ा के लायक़ होगा।
Ye have heard, that it was said, to them of olden time, —Thou shalt not commit murder, and, whosoever shall commit murder, shall be, liable, to judgment.
22 लेकिन मैं तुम से ये कहता हूँ कि, 'जो कोई अपने भाई पर ग़ुस्सा होगा, वो 'अदालत की सज़ा के लायक़ होगा; कोई अपने भाई को पाग़ल कहेगा, वो सद्रे — ऐ अदालत की सज़ा के लायक़ होगा; और जो उसको बेवक़ूफ़ कहेगा, वो जहन्नुम की आग का सज़ावार होगा। (Geenna g1067)
But, I, say unto you, that, every one who is angry with his brother, shall be, liable, to judgment, —and, whosoever shall say to his brother, Worthless one!, shall be, liable, to the high council; and, whosoever shall say, Rebel!, shall be, liable, unto the fiery gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
23 पस अगर तू क़ुर्बानगाह पर अपनी क़ुर्बानी करता है और वहाँ तुझे याद आए कि मेरे भाई को मुझ से कुछ शिकायत है।
If, therefore, thou be bearing thy gift towards the altar, and, there, shouldst remember that, thy brother, hath aught against thee,
24 तो वहीं क़ुर्बानगाह के आगे अपनी नज़्र छोड़ दे और जाकर पहले अपने भाई से मिलाप कर तब आकर अपनी क़ुर्बानी कर।
leave, there, thy gift before the altar, and withdraw, —first, be reconciled unto thy brother, and, then, coming, be offering thy gift.
25 जब तक तू अपने मुद्द'ई के साथ रास्ते में है, उससे जल्द सुलह कर ले, कहीं ऐसा न हो कि मुद्द'ई तुझे मुन्सिफ़ के हवाले कर दे और मुन्सिफ़ तुझे सिपाही के हवाले कर दे; और तू क़ैद खाने में डाला जाए।
Be making agreement with thine adversary, quickly, while thou art with him, in the way, —lest once thine adversary deliver thee up unto the judge, and the judge, unto the officer, and, into prison, thou be cast.
26 मैं तुझ से सच कहता हूँ, कि जब तक तू कौड़ी — कौड़ी अदा न करेगा वहाँ से हरगिज़ न छूटेगा।
Verily, I say unto thee, In nowise, mayest thou come out from thence, until thou pay the last halfpenny.
27 “तुम सुन चुके हो कि कहा गया था, ‘ज़िना न करना।’
Ye have heard, that it was said, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 लेकिन मैं तुम से ये कहता हूँ कि जिस किसी ने बुरी ख़्वाहिश से किसी 'औरत पर निगाह की वो अपने दिल में उस के साथ ज़िना कर चुका।
But, I, say unto you, that, Every one who looketh on a woman so as to covet her, already, hath committed adultery with her, in his heart.
29 पस अगर तेरी दहनी आँख तुझे ठोकर खिलाए तो उसे निकाल कर अपने पास से फेंक दे; क्यूँकि तेरे लिए यही बेहतर है; कि तेरे आ'ज़ा में से एक जाता रहे और तेरा सारा बदन जहन्नुम में न डाला जाए। (Geenna g1067)
And, if, thy right eye, is causing thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee, —for it profiteth thee, that, one of thy members, should perish, and not, thy whole body, be cast into gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
30 और अगर तेरा दाहिना हाथ तुझे ठोकर खिलाए तो उस को काट कर अपने पास से फेंक दे। क्यूँकि तेरे लिए यही बेहतर है; कि तेरे आ'ज़ा में से एक जाता रहे और तेरा सारा बदन जहन्नुम में न जाए।” (Geenna g1067)
And, if, thy right hand, is causing thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee, —for it profiteth thee, that, one of thy members, should perish, and not, thy whole body, into gehenna, depart. (Geenna g1067)
31 ये भी कहा गया था, जो कोई अपनी बीवी को छोड़े उसे तलाक़नामा लिख दे।
It was said, moreover, Whosoever shall divorce his wife, let him give her a writing of divorcement;
32 लेकिन मैं तुम से ये कहता हूँ, कि जो कोई अपनी बीवी को हरामकारी के सिवा किसी और वजह से छोड़ दे वो उस से ज़िना करता है; और जो कोई उस छोड़ी हुई से शादी करे वो भी ज़िना करता है।
But, I, say unto you, that, Everyone who divorceth his wife—saving for unfaithfulness, causeth her to be made an adulteress, —[and, whosoever shall marry a divorced woman, committeth adultery].
33 “फिर तुम सुन चुके हो कि अगलों से कहा गया था ‘झूठी क़सम न खाना; बल्कि अपनी क़समें ख़ुदावन्द के लिए पूरी करना।’
Again, ye have heard that it was said, to them of olden time, Thou shalt not swear falsely, —but shalt render unto the Lord, thine oaths.
34 लेकिन मैं तुम से ये कहता हूँ कि बिल्कुल क़सम न खाना न तो आस्मान की क्यूँकि वो ख़ुदा का तख़्त है,
But, I, tell you—not to swear, at all: Neither by heaven, because it is the, throne of God, —
35 न ज़मीन की, क्यूँकि वो उस के पैरों की चौकी है। न येरूशलेम की क्यूँकि वो बुज़ुर्ग बादशाह का शहर है।
Nor by the earth, because it is his, footstool; nor by Jerusalem, because, it is the, city, of the Great King;
36 न अपने सर की क़सम खाना क्यूँकि तू एक बाल को भी सफ़ेद या काला नहीं कर सकता।
Nor, by thine own head, mayest thou swear, because thou art not able to make, one hair, white or black.
37 बल्कि तुम्हारा कलाम ‘हाँ — हाँ’ या ‘नहीं — नहीं में’ हो क्यूँकि जो इस से ज़्यादा है वो बदी से है।”
But let your word be, Yea, yea, —Nay, nay; and, what goeth beyond these, is, of evil.
38 “तुम सुन चुके हो कि कहा गया था, आँख के बदले आँख, और दाँत के बदले दाँत।
Ye have heard, that it was said, —Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.
39 लेकिन मैं तुम से ये कहता हूँ कि शरीर का मुक़ाबिला न करना बल्कि जो कोई तेरे दहने गाल पर तमाचा मारे दूसरा भी उसकी तरफ़ फेर दे।
But, I, tell you, not to resist evil, —Nay, whoever is smiting thee on the right cheek, turn to him, the other also;
40 और अगर कोई तुझ पर नालिश कर के तेरा कुरता लेना चाहे; तो चोग़ा भी उसे ले लेने दे।
And, him who is desiring thee to be judged, and to take, thy tunic, let him have, thy mantle also.
41 और जो कोई तुझे एक कोस बेग़ार में ले जाए; उस के साथ दो कोस चला जा।
And, whoever shall impress thee one mile, go with him two:
42 जो कोई तुझ से माँगे उसे दे; और जो तुझ से क़र्ज़ चाहे उस से मुँह न मोड़।”
To him who is asking thee, give; and, him who is desiring from thee to borrow, do not thou turn away.
43 “तुम सुन चुके हो कि कहा गया था, अपने पड़ोसी से मुँह रख और अपने दुश्मन से दुश्मनी।
Ye have heard, that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44 लेकिन मैं तुम से ये कहता हूँ, अपने दुश्मनों से मुहब्बत रखो और अपने सताने वालों के लिए दुआ करो।
But, I, say unto you, Be loving your enemies, and praying for them who are persecuting you:
45 ताकि तुम अपने बाप के जो आसमान पर है, बेटे ठहरो; क्यूँकि वो अपने सूरज को बदों और नेकों दोनों पर चमकाता है; और रास्तबाज़ों और नारास्तों दोनों पर मेंह बरसाता है।
That ye may become sons of your Father who is in the heavens: because, his sun, he maketh arise on evil and good, and sendeth rain, on just and unjust.
46 क्यूँकि अगर तुम अपने मुहब्बत रखने वालों ही से मुहब्बत रख्खो तो तुम्हारे लिए क्या अज्र है? क्या महसूल लेने वाले भी ऐसा नहीं करते।”
For, if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? are not, even the tax-collectors, the same thing, doing?
47 अगर तुम सिर्फ़ अपने भाइयों को सलाम करो; तो क्या ज़्यादा करते हो? क्या ग़ैर क़ौमों के लोग भी ऐसा नहीं करते?
And, if ye salute your brethren only, what, more than common, are ye doing? are not, even the nations, the same thing, doing?
48 पस चाहिए कि तुम कामिल हो जैसा तुम्हारा आस्मानी बाप कामिल है।
Ye, therefore, shall become, perfect: as, your heavenly Father, is perfect.
