यशो 4
1 और जब सारी क़ौम यरदन के पार हो गई तो ख़ुदावन्द ने यशू'अ से कहा कि।
When all the people crossed over the Jordan, Yahweh said to Joshua,
2 क़बीला पीछे एक आदमी के हिसाब से बारह आदमी लोगों में से चुन लो।
“Choose twelve men for yourselves from among the people, one man from each tribe.
3 और उन को हुक्म दो कि तुम यरदन के बीच में से जहाँ काहिनों के पाँव जमे हुए थे बारह पत्थर लो और उनको अपने साथ ले जा कर उस मंज़िल पर जहाँ तुम आज की रात टिकोगे रख देना।
Give them this command: 'Take up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan where the priests are standing on the dry ground, and bring them over with you and lay them down in the place where you will spend the night tonight.'”
4 तब यशू'अ ने उन बारह आदमियों को जिनको उस ने बनी इस्राईल में से क़बीला पीछे एक आदमी के हिसाब से तैयार कर रखा था बुलाया।
Then Joshua called the twelve men whom he had chosen from the tribes of Israel, one from each tribe.
5 और यशू'अ ने उन से कहा, “तुम ख़ुदावन्द अपने ख़ुदा के 'अहद के सन्दूक़ के आगे आगे यरदन के बीच में जाओ, और तुम में से हर शख़्स बनी इस्राईल के क़बीलों के शुमार के मुताबिक़ एक एक पत्थर अपने कन्धे पर उठा ले।
Joshua said to them, “Go over before the ark of Yahweh your God into the middle of the Jordan. Each of you is to take up a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel.
6 ताकि यह तुम्हारे बीच एक निशान हो, और जब तुम्हारी औलाद आइन्दा ज़माने में तुम से पूछे, कि इन पत्थरों से तुम्हारा क्या मतलब है?
This will be a sign in your midst for you when your children ask in days to come, 'What do these stones mean to you?'
7 तो तुम उन को जवाब देना कि यरदन का पानी ख़ुदावन्द के 'अहद के सन्दूक़ के आगे दो हिस्से हो गया था; क्यूँकि जब वह यरदन पार आ रहा था तब यरदन का पानी दो हिस्से होगया। यूँ यह पत्थर हमेशा के लिए बनी इस्राईल के वास्ते यादगार ठहरेंगे।”
Then you will say to them, 'The waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of Yahweh. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones will be a memorial to the people of Israel forever.'”
8 चुनाँचे बनी इस्राईल ने यशू'अ के हुक्म के मुताबिक़ किया, और जैसा ख़ुदावन्द ने यशू'अ से कहा था उन्होंने बनी इस्राईल के क़बीलों के शुमार के मुताबिक़ यरदन के बीच में से बारह पत्थर उठा लिए; और उन को उठा कर अपने साथ उस जगह ले गये जहाँ वह टिके और वहीं उनको रख दिया।
The people of Israel did just as Joshua commanded, and they picked up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, as Yahweh said to Joshua. They set the stones up according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel. They carried the stones with them, over to the place where they camped and they set them down there.
9 और यशू'अ ने यरदन के बीच में उस जगह जहाँ 'अहद के सन्दूक़ के उठाने वाले काहिनों ने पाँव जमाये थे बारह पत्थर खड़े किये; चुनाँचे वह आज के दिन तक वहीं हैं।
Then Joshua set up twelve stones in the middle of the Jordan River, in the place where the feet of the priests that carried the ark of the covenant stood. The memorial is there to this day.
10 क्यूँकि वह काहिन जो सन्दूक़ को उठाये हुए थे यरदन के बीच ही में खड़े रहे, जब तक उन सब बातों के मुताबिक़ जिनका हुक्म मूसा ने यशू'अ को दिया था हर एक बात पूरी न हो चुकी, जिसे लोगों को बताने का हुक्म ख़ुदावन्द ने यशू'अ को किया था; और लोगों ने जल्दी की और पार उतरे।
The priests that carried the ark stood in the middle of the Jordan until everything that Yahweh commanded Joshua to tell the people was completed, according to all that Moses had commanded Joshua. The people hurried and they crossed over.
11 और ऐसा हुआ कि जब सब लोग साफ़ पार हो गये, तो ख़ुदावन्द का सन्दूक़ और काहिन भी लोगों के रूबरू पार हुए।
When all the people had finished crossing over, the ark of Yahweh and the priests crossed over before the people.
12 और बनी रूबिन और बनी जद्द और मनस्सी के आधे क़बीले के लोग मूसा के कहने के मुताबिक़ हथियार बांधे हुए बनी इस्राईल के आगे पार गये;
The tribe of Reuben, the tribe of Gad, and the half tribe of Manasseh passed before the people of Israel formed up as an army, just as Moses said to them.
13 या'नी क़रीब चालीस हज़ार आदमी लड़ाई के लिए तैयार और हथियार बांधे हुए ख़ुदावन्द के सामने पार होकर यरीहू के मैदान में पहुँचे ताकि जंग करें।
About forty thousand men equipped for war passed before Yahweh, for battle on the plains of Jericho.
14 उस दिन ख़ुदावन्द ने सब इस्राईलियों के सामने यशू'अ को सरफ़राज़ किया; और जैसा वह मूसा से डरते थे, वैसे ही उससे उसकी ज़िन्दगी भर डरते रहे।
On that day Yahweh made Joshua great in the eyes of all Israel. They honored him—just as they honored Moses— all his days.
15 और ख़ुदावन्द ने यशू'अ से कहा कि।
Then Yahweh spoke to Joshua,
16 इन काहिनो को जो 'अहद का सन्दूक़ उठाये हुए हैं, हुक्म कर कि वह यरदन में से निकल आयें।
“Command the priests who carry the ark of the testimony to come up out of the Jordan.”
17 चुनाँचे यशू'अ ने काहिनो को हुक्म दिया कि यरदन में से निकल आओ।
So, Joshua commanded the priests, “Come up out of the Jordan.”
18 और जब वह काहिन जो ख़ुदावन्द के 'अहद का सन्दूक़ उठाये हुए थे यरदन के बीच में से निकल आए, और उनके पाँव के तलवे ख़ुश्की पर आ टिके तो यरदन का पानी फिर अपनी जगह पर आ गया और पहले की तरह अपने सब किनारों पर बहने लगा।
When the priests carrying the ark of the covenant of Yahweh came up out of the middle of the Jordan, and the soles of their feet were lifted up out on dry ground, then the waters of the Jordan returned to their place and overflowed its banks, just as they were four days before.
19 और लोग पहले महीने की दसवीं तारीख़ को यरदन में से निकल कर यरीहू की पूरबी सरहद पर जिल्जाल में ख़ेमाज़न हुए।
The people came up out of the Jordan on the tenth day of the first month. They stayed in Gilgal, east of Jericho.
20 और यशू'अ ने उन बारह पत्थरों को जिनको उन्होंने यरदन में से लिया था जिल्जाल में खड़ा किया।
The twelve stones that they took out of the Jordan, Joshua set up in Gilgal.
21 और उस ने बनी इस्राईल से कहा कि जब तुम्हारे लड़के आइन्दा ज़माने में अपने अपने बाप दादा से पूछें, कि इन पत्थरों का मतलब क्या है?
He said to the people of Israel, “When your descendants ask their fathers in times to come, 'What are these stones?'
22 तो तुम अपने लड़कों को यही बताना कि इस्राईली ख़ुश्की ख़ुश्की हो कर इस यरदन के पार आए थे।
Tell your children, 'This is where Israel crossed over the Jordan on dry ground.'
23 क्यूँकि ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारे ख़ुदा ने जब तक तुम पार न हो गये, यरदन के पानी को तुम्हारे सामने से हटा कर सुखा दिया; जैसा ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारे ख़ुदा ने बहर — ए — कु़लजु़म से किया, कि उसे हमारे सामने से हटा कर सुखा दिया जब तक हम पार न हो गये।
Yahweh your God dried up the waters of the Jordan for you, until you had crossed over, just as Yahweh your God did to the Sea of Reeds, which he dried up for us until we passed over,
24 ताकि ज़मीन की सब क़ौमें जान लें कि ख़ुदावन्द का हाथ ताक़तवर है। और ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारे ख़ुदा से हमेशा डरती रहें।
so that all the peoples of the earth may know that the hand of Yahweh is mighty, and that you will honor Yahweh your God forever.”
