यूना 3
1 और ख़ुदावन्द का कलाम दूसरी बार यूनाह पर नाज़िल हुआ।
Then the Lord spoke to Jonah for a second time.
2 कि उठ उस बड़े शहर निनवा को जा और वहाँ उस बात का 'ऐलान कर जिसका मैं तुझे हुक्म देता हूँ।
“Go immediately to the great city of Nineveh and announce the message I'm giving you.”
3 तब यूनाह ख़ुदावन्द के कलाम के मुताबिक़ उठ कर निनवा को गया, और निनवा बहुत बड़ा शहर था। उसकी दूरी तीन दिन की राह थी
Jonah did what God told him. He set out and went to Nineveh, a city that was so big it took three days to walk through it.
4 और यूनाह शहर में दाख़िल हुआ और एक दिन की राह चला। उस ने 'ऐलान किया और कहा, “चालीस रोज़ के बाद निनवा बर्बाद किया जायेगा।”
Jonah went into the city, walking for one day, shouting out, “In forty days Nineveh will be destroyed!”
5 तब निनवा के बाशिंदों ने ख़ुदा पर ईमान लाकर रोज़ा का 'ऐलान किया और छोटे और बड़े सब ने टाट ओढा।
The people of Nineveh believed in God. They announced a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth.
6 और यह ख़बर निनवा के बादशाह को पहुँची; और वह अपने तख़्त पर से उठा और बादशाही लिबास को उतार डाला और टाट ओढ़ कर राख पर बैठ गया।
When the news of what was happening reached the king of Nineveh he came down from his throne, took off his robe, put on sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
7 और बादशाह और उसके अर्कान — ए — दौलत के फ़रमान से निनवा में यह 'ऐलान किया गया और इस बात का 'ऐलान हुआ कि कोइ इंसान या हैवान ग़ल्ला या शराब कुछ न चखें और न खाए पिए।
Then the king and the nobles issued a proclamation throughout Nineveh: “No person, no animal, no herd, and no flock, shall eat or drink anything.
8 लेकिन इंसान और हैवान टाट से मुलब्बस हों और ख़ुदा के सामने रोना पीटना करें बल्कि हर शख़्स अपनी बुरे चाल चलन और अपने हाथ के ज़ुल्म से बाज़ आए।
Every person and every animal is to wear sackcloth. Everyone is to pray sincerely to God, give up the evil things they do, and stop using violence.
9 शायद ख़ुदा रहम करे और अपना इरादा बदले, और अपने क़हर शदीद से बाज़ आए और हम हलाक न हों।
Who knows? God may change his mind and relent. He may decide not to destroy us in his fierce anger.”
10 जब ख़ुदा ने उनकी ये हालत देखी कि वह अपने अपने बुरे चाल चलन से बाज़ आए, तो वह उस 'अज़ाब से जो उसने उन पर नाज़िल करने को कहा था, बाज़ आया और उसे नाज़िल न किया।
God saw what they had done—that they had given up their evil ways—so he changed his mind and did not carry out the destruction he had threatened.
