अय्यू 1
1 ऊज़ की सर ज़मीन में अय्यूब नाम का एक शख़्स था। वह शख़्स कामिल और रास्तबाज़ था और ख़ुदा से डरता और गुनाह से दूर रहता था।

2 उसके यहाँ सात बेटे और तीन बेटियाँ पैदा हुईं।

3 उसके पास सात हज़ार भेंड़े और तीन हज़ार ऊँट और पाँच सौ जोड़ी बैल और पाँच सौ गधियाँ और बहुत से नौकर चाकर थे, ऐसा कि अहल — ए — मशरिक़ में वह सबसे बड़ा आदमी था।
and to be livestock his seven thousand flock and three thousand camel and five hundred pair cattle and five hundred she-ass and service many much and to be [the] man [the] he/she/it great: large from all son: descendant/people front: east
4 उसके बेटे एक दूसरे के घर जाया करते थे और हर एक अपने दिन पर मेहमान नवाज़ी करते थे, और अपने साथ खाने — पीने को अपनी तीनों बहनों को बुलवा भेजते थे।
and to go: went son: child his and to make: do feast house: home man: anyone day his and to send: depart and to call: call to to/for three (sister their *Q(k)*) to/for to eat and to/for to drink with them
5 और जब उनकी मेहमान नवाज़ी के दिन पूरे हो जाते, तो अय्यूब उन्हें बुलवाकर पाक करता और सुबह को सवेरे उठकर उन सभों की ता'दाद के मुताबिक़ सोख़्तनी क़ुर्बानियाँ अदा करता था, क्यूँकि अय्यूब कहता था, कि “शायद मेरे बेटों ने कुछ ख़ता की हो और अपने दिल में ख़ुदा की बुराई की हो।” अय्यूब हमेशा ऐसा ही किया करता था।

6 और एक दिन ख़ुदा के बेटे आए कि ख़ुदावन्द के सामने हाज़िर हों, और उनके बीच शैतान भी आया।
and to be [the] day and to come (in): come son: child [the] God to/for to stand upon LORD and to come (in): come also [the] Satan in/on/with midst their
7 और ख़ुदावन्द ने शैतान से पूछा, कि “तू कहाँ से आता है?” शैतान ने ख़ुदावन्द को जवाब दिया, कि “ज़मीन पर इधर — उधर घूमता फिरता और उसमें सैर करता हुआ आया हूँ।”
and to say LORD to(wards) [the] Satan from where? to come (in): come and to answer [the] Satan [obj] LORD and to say from to rove in/on/with land: country/planet and from to go: walk in/on/with her
8 ख़ुदावन्द ने शैतान से कहा, “क्या तू ने मेरे बन्दे अय्यूब के हाल पर भी कुछ ग़ौर किया? क्यूँकि ज़मीन पर उसकी तरह कामिल और रास्तबाज़ आदमी, जो ख़ुदा से डरता, और गुनाह से दूर रहता हो, कोई नहीं।”
and to say LORD to(wards) [the] Satan to set: consider heart your upon servant/slave my Job for nothing like him in/on/with land: country/planet man complete and upright afraid God and to turn aside: turn aside from bad: evil
9 शैतान ने ख़ुदावन्द को जवाब दिया, “क्या अय्यूब यूँ ही ख़ुदा से डरता' है?
and to answer [the] Satan [obj] LORD and to say for nothing to fear: revere Job God
10 क्या तू ने उसके और उसके घर के चारों तरफ़, और जो कुछ उसका है उस सबके चारों तरफ़ बाड़ नहीं बनाई है? तू ने उसके हाथ के काम में बरकत बख़्शी है, और उसके गल्ले मुल्क में बढ़ गए हैं।
not (you(m. s.) *Q(K)*) to hedge about/through/for him and about/through/for house: home his and about/through/for all which to/for him from around: side deed: work hand his to bless and livestock his to break through in/on/with land: country/planet
11 लेकिन तू ज़रा अपना हाथ बढ़ा कर जो कुछ उसका है उसे छू ही दे; तो क्या वह तेरे मुँह पर तेरी बुराई न करेगा?”
and but to send: reach please hand your and to touch in/on/with all which to/for him if: surely yes not upon face your to bless you
12 ख़ुदावन्द ने शैतान से कहा, “देख, उसका सब कुछ तेरे इख़्तियार में है, सिर्फ़ उसको हाथ न लगाना।” तब शैतान ख़ुदावन्द के सामने से चला गया।
and to say LORD to(wards) [the] Satan behold all which to/for him in/on/with hand your except to(wards) him not to send: reach hand your and to come out: come [the] Satan from from with face LORD
13 और एक दिन जब उसके बेटे और बेटियाँ अपने बड़े भाई के घर में खाना खा रहे और मयनोशी कर रहे थे।
and to be [the] day and son: child his and daughter his to eat and to drink wine in/on/with house: home brother: male-sibling their [the] firstborn
14 तो एक क़ासिद ने अय्यूब के पास आकर कहा, कि “बैल हल में जुते थे और गधे उनके पास चर रहे थे,
and messenger to come (in): come to(wards) Job and to say [the] cattle to be to plow/plot and [the] she-ass to pasture upon hand: to their
15 कि सबा के लोग उन पर टूट पड़े और उन्हें ले गए, और नौकरों को हलाक किया और सिर्फ़ मैं ही अकेला बच निकला कि तुझे ख़बर दूँ।”
and to fall: fall Sheba and to take: take them and [obj] [the] youth to smite to/for lip: edge sword and to escape [emph?] except I to/for alone me to/for to tell to/for you
16 वह अभी यह कह ही रहा था कि एक और भी आकर कहने लगा, कि “ख़ुदा की आग आसमान से नाज़िल हुई और भेड़ों और नौकरों को जलाकर भस्म कर दिया, और सिर्फ़ मैं ही अकेला बच निकला कि तुझे ख़बर दूँ।”
still this to speak: speak and this to come (in): come and to say fire God to fall: fall from [the] heaven and to burn: burn in/on/with flock and in/on/with youth and to eat them and to escape [emph?] except I to/for alone me to/for to tell to/for you
17 वह अभी यह कह ही रहा था कि एक और भी आकर कहने लगा, 'कसदी तीन ग़ोल होकर ऊँटों पर आ गिरे और उन्हें ले गए, और नौकरों को हलाक किया और सिर्फ़ मैं ही अकेला बच निकला कि तुझे ख़बर दूँ।
still this to speak: speak and this to come (in): come and to say Chaldea to set: make three head: group and to strip upon [the] camel and to take: take them and [obj] [the] youth to smite to/for lip: edge sword and to escape [emph?] except I to/for alone me to/for to tell to/for you
18 वह अभी यह कह ही रहा था कि एक और भी आकर कहने लगा, कि “तेरे बेटे बेटियाँ अपने बड़े भाई के घर में खाना खा रहे और मयनोशी कर रहे थे,
till this to speak: speak and this to come (in): come and to say son: child your and daughter your to eat and to drink wine in/on/with house: home brother: male-sibling their [the] firstborn
19 और देख, वीरान से एक बड़ी आँधी चली और उस घर के चारों कोनों पर ऐसे ज़ोर से टकराई कि वह उन जवानों पर गिर पड़ा, और वह मर गए और सिर्फ़ मैं ही अकेला बच निकला कि तुझे ख़बर दूँ।”
and behold spirit: breath great: large to come (in): come from side: beyond [the] wilderness and to touch in/on/with four corner [the] house: home and to fall: fall upon [the] youth and to die and to escape [emph?] except I to/for alone me to/for to tell to/for you
20 तब अय्यूब ने उठकर अपना लिबास चाक किया और सिर मुंडाया और ज़मीन पर गिरकर सिज्दा किया
and to arise: rise Job and to tear [obj] robe his and to shear [obj] head his and to fall: fall land: soil [to] and to bow
21 और कहा, “नंगा मैं अपनी माँ के पेट से निकला, और नंगा ही वापस जाऊँगा। ख़ुदावन्द ने दिया और ख़ुदावन्द ने ले लिया। ख़ुदावन्द का नाम मुबारक हो।”
and to say naked (to come out: produce *Q(k)*) from belly: womb mother my and naked to return: return there [to] LORD to give: give and LORD to take: take to be name LORD to bless
22 इन सब बातों में अय्यूब ने न तो गुनाह किया और न ख़ुदा पर ग़लत काम का 'ऐब लगाया।
in/on/with all this not to sin Job and not to give: give folly to/for God
