अय्यू 9
1 फ़िर अय्यूब ने जवाब दिया
Then Job answered and said,
2 दर हक़ीक़त में मैं जानता हूँ कि बात यूँ ही है, लेकिन इंसान ख़ुदा के सामने कैसे रास्तबाज़ ठहरे।
I know of a truth that it is so: for how shall a mortal man be just before the Lord?
3 अगर वह उससे बहस करने को राज़ी भी हो, यह तो हज़ार बातों में से उसे एक का भी जवाब न दे सकेगा।
For if he would enter into judgment with him, [God] would not listen to him, so that he should answer to one of his charges of a thousand.
4 वह दिल का 'अक़्लमन्द और ताक़त में ज़ोरआवर है, किसी ने हिम्मत करके उसका सामना किया है और बढ़ा हो।
For he is wise in mind, and mighty, and great: who has hardened himself against him and endured?
5 वह पहाड़ों को हटा देता है और उन्हें पता भी नहीं लगता वह अपने क़हर में उलट देता है।
Who wears out the mountains, and [men] know it not: who overturns them in anger.
6 वह ज़मीन को उसकी जगह से हिला देता है, और उसके सुतून काँपने लगते हैं।
Who shakes the [earth] under heaven from its foundations, and its pillars totter.
7 वह सूरज को हुक्म करता है और वह तुलू' नहीं होता है, और सितारों पर मुहर लगा देता है
Who commands the sun, and it rises not; and he seals up the stars.
8 वह आसमानों को अकेला तान देता है, और समन्दर की लहरों पर चलता है
Who alone has stretched out the heavens, and walks on the sea as on firm ground.
9 उसने बनात — उन — नाश और जब्बार और सुरैया और जुनूब के बुजों' को बनाया।
Who makes Pleias, and Hesperus, and Arcturus, and the chambers of the south.
10 वह बड़े बड़े काम जो बयान नहीं हो सकते, और बेशुमार अजीब काम करता है।
Who does great and unsearchable things; glorious also and excellent things, innumerable.
11 देखो, वह मेरे पास से गुज़रता है लेकिन मुझे दिखाई नहीं देता; वह आगे भी बढ़ जाता है लेकिन मैं उसे नहीं देखता।
If ever he should go beyond me, I shall not see him: if he should pass by me, neither thus have I known [it].
12 देखो, वह शिकार पकड़ता है; कौन उसे रोक सकता है? कौन उससे कहेगा कि तू क्या करता है?
If he would take away, who shall turn him back? or who shall say to him, What have you done?
13 “ख़ुदा अपने ग़ुस्से को नहीं हटाएगा। रहब' के मददगार उसके नीचे झुकजाते हैं।
For [if] he has turned away [his] anger, the whales under heaven have stooped under him.
14 फिर मेरी क्या हक़ीक़त है कि मैं उसे जवाब दूँ और उससे बहस करने को अपने लफ़्ज़ छाँट छाँट कर निकालूँ?
Oh then that he would listen to me, or judge my cause.
15 उसे तो मैं अगर सादिक़ भी होता तो जवाब न देता। मैं अपने मुख़ालिफ़ की मिन्नत करता।
For though I be righteous, he will not listen to me: I will entreat his judgment.
16 अगर वह मेरे पुकारने पर मुझे जवाब भी देता, तोभी मैं यक़ीन न करता कि उसने मेरी आवाज़ सुनी।
And if I should call and he should not listen, I can’t believe that he has listened to my voice.
17 वह तूफ़ान से मुझे तोड़ता है, और बे वजह मेरे ज़ख़्मों को ज़्यादा करता है।
Let him not crush me with a dark storm: but he has made by bruises many without cause.
18 वह मुझे दम नहीं लेने देता, बल्कि मुझे तल्ख़ी से भरपूर करता है।
For he suffers me not to take breath, but he has filled me with bitterness.
19 अगर ज़ोरआवर की ताक़त का ज़िक्र हो, तो देखो वह है। और अगर इन्साफ़ का, तो मेरे लिए वक़्त कौन ठहराएगा?
For indeed he is strong in power: who then shall resist his judgment?
20 अगर मैं सच्चा भी हूँ, तोभी मेरा ही मुँह मुझे मुल्ज़िम ठहराएगा। और अगर मैं कामिल भी हूँ तोभी यह मुझे आलसी साबित करेगा।
For though I should seem righteous, my mouth will be profane: and though I should seem blameless, I shall be proved perverse.
21 मैं कामिल तो हूँ, लेकिन अपने को कुछ नहीं समझता; मैं अपनी ज़िन्दगी को बेकार जानता हूँ।
For even if I have sinned, I know it not [in] my soul: but my life is taken away.
22 यह सब एक ही बात है, इसलिए मैं कहता हूँ कि वह कामिल और शरीर दोनों को हलाक कर देता है।
Therefore I said, Wrath slays the great and mighty man.
23 अगर वबा अचानक हलाक करने लगे, तो वह बेगुनाह की आज़माइश का मज़ाक़ उड़ाता है।
For the worthless die, but the righteous are laughed to scorn.
24 ज़मीन शरीरों को हवाले कर दी गई है। वह उसके हाकिमों के मुँह ढाँक देता है। अगर वही नहीं तो और कौन है?
For they are delivered into the hands of the unrighteous [man]: he covers the faces of the judges [of the earth]: but if it be not he, who is it?
25 मेरे दिन हरकारों से भी तेज़रू हैं। वह उड़े चले जाते हैं और ख़ुशी नहीं देखने पाते।
But my life is swifter than a post: [my days] have fled away, and they knew it not.
26 वह तेज़ जहाज़ों की तरह निकल गए, और उस उक़ाब की तरह जो शिकार पर झपटता हो।
Or again, is there a trace of [their] path [left] by ships? or is there one of the flying eagle as it seeks [its] prey?
27 अगर मैं कहूँ, कि 'मैं अपना ग़म भुला दूँगा, और उदासी छोड़कर दिलशाद हूँगा,
And if I should say, I will forget to speak, I will bow down my face and groan;
28 तो मैं अपने दुखों से डरता हूँ, मैं जानता हूँ कि तू मुझे बेगुनाह न ठहराएगा।
I quake in all my limbs, for I know that you will not leave me alone [as] innocent.
29 मैं तो मुल्ज़िम ठहरूँगा; फिर मैं 'तो मैं ज़हमत क्यूँ उठाऊँ?
But since I am ungodly, why have I not died?
30 अगर मैं अपने को बर्फ़ के पानी से धोऊँ, और अपने हाथ कितने ही साफ़ करूँ।
For if I should wash myself with snow, and purge myself with pure hands,
31 तोभी तू मुझे खाई में ग़ोता देगा, और मेरे ही कपड़े मुझ से घिन खाएँगे।
you had thoroughly plunged me in filth, and my garment had abhorred me.
32 क्यूँकि वह मेरी तरह आदमी नहीं कि मैं उसे जवाब दूँ, और हम 'अदालत में एक साथ हाज़िर हों।
For you are not man like me, with whom I could contend, that we might come together to judgment.
33 हमारे बीच कोई बिचवानी नहीं, जो हम दोनों पर अपना हाथ रख्खे।
Would that [he] our mediator were [present], and a reprover, and one who should hear [the cause] between both.
34 वह अपनी लाठी मुझ से हटा ले, और उसकी डरावनी बात मुझे परेशान न करे।
Let him remove [his] rod from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
35 तब मैं कुछ कहूँगा और उससे डरने का नहीं, क्यूँकि अपने आप में तो मैं ऐसा नहीं हूँ।
so shall I not be afraid, but I will speak: for I am not thus conscious [of guilt].
