अय्यू 8
1 तब बिलदद सूखी कहने लगा,
And Bildad the Shuhite answered and said,
2 तू कब तक ऐसे ही बकता रहेगा, और तेरे मुँह की बातें कब तक आँधी की तरह होंगी?
How long wilt thou speak these things? and the words of thy mouth be a strong wind?
3 क्या ख़ुदा बेइन्साफ़ी करता है? क्या क़ादिर — ए — मुतलक़ इन्साफ़ का खू़न करता है?
Doth God pervert judgment, and the Almighty pervert justice?
4 अगर तेरे फ़र्ज़न्दों ने उसका गुनाह किया है, और उसने उन्हें उन ही की ख़ता के हवाले कर दिया।
If thy children have sinned against him, he hath also given them over into the hand of their transgression.
5 तोभी अगर तू ख़ुदा को खू़ब ढूँडता, और क़ादिर — ए — मुतलक़ के सामने मिन्नत करता,
If thou seek earnestly unto God, and make thy supplication to the Almighty,
6 तो अगर तू पाक दिल और रास्तबाज़ होता, तो वह ज़रूर अब तेरे लिए बेदार हो जाता, और तेरी रास्तबाज़ी के घर को बढ़ाता।
If thou be pure and upright, surely now he will awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous;
7 और अगरचे तेरा आग़ाज़ छोटा सा था, तोभी तेरा अंजाम बहुत बड़ा होता
And though thy beginning was small, yet thine end shall be very great.
8 ज़रा पिछले ज़माने के लोंगों से पू छ और जो कुछ उनके बाप दादा ने तहक़ीक़ की है उस पर ध्यान कर।
For inquire, I pray thee, of the former generation, and attend to the researches of their fathers;
9 क्यूँकि हम तो कल ही के हैं, और कुछ नहीं जानते और हमारे दिन ज़मीन पर साये की तरह हैं।
For we are [but] of yesterday, and know nothing, for our days upon earth are a shadow.
10 क्या वह तुझे न सिखाएँगे और न बताएँगे और अपने दिल की बातें नहीं करेंगे?
Shall not they teach thee, [and] tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
11 क्या नागरमोंथा बग़ैर कीचड़ के उग सकता है क्या सरकंडों को बिना पानी के बढ़ा किया जा सकता है?
Doth the papyrus shoot up without mire? doth the reed-grass grow without water?
12 जब वह हरा ही है और काटा भी नहीं गया तोभी और पौदों से पहले सूख जाता है।
Whilst it is yet in its greenness [and] not cut down, it withereth before any [other] grass.
13 ऐसी ही उन सब की राहें हैं, जो ख़ुदा को भूल जाते हैं बे ख़ुदा आदमी की उम्मीद टूट जाएगी
So are the paths of all that forget God; and the profane man's hope shall perish,
14 उसका ऐतमा'द जाता रहेगा और उसका भरोसा मकड़ी का जाला है।
Whose confidence shall be cut off, and his reliance is a spider's web.
15 वह अपने घर पर टेक लगाएगा लेकिन वह खड़ा न रहेगा, वह उसे मज़बूती से थामेगा लेकिन वह क़ाईम न रहेगा।
He shall lean upon his house, and it shall not stand; he shall lay hold on it, but it shall not endure.
16 वह धूप पाकर हरा भरा हो जाता है और उसकी डालियाँ उसी के बाग़ में फैलतीं हैं
He is full of sap before the sun, and his sprout shooteth forth over his garden;
17 उसकी जड़ें ढेर में लिपटी हुई रहती हैं, वह पत्थर की जगह को देख लेता है।
His roots are entwined about the stoneheap; he seeth the place of stones.
18 अगर वह अपनी जगह से हलाक किया जाए तो वह उसका इन्कार करके कहने लगेंगी, कि मैंने तुझे देखा ही नहीं।
If he destroy him from his place, then it shall deny him: I have not seen thee!
19 देख उसके रस्ते की ख़ुशी इतनी ही है, और मिटटी में से दूसरे उग आएगें।
Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the dust shall others grow.
20 देख ख़ुदा कामिल आदमी को छोड़ न देगा, न वह बदकिरदारों को सम्भालेगा।
Behold, God will not cast off a perfect man, neither will he take evil-doers by the hand.
21 वह अब भी तेरे मुँह को हँसी से भर देगा और तेरे लबों की ललकार की आवाज़ से।
Whilst he would fill thy mouth with laughing and thy lips with shouting,
22 तेरे नफ़रत करने वाले शर्म का जामा' पहनेंगे और शरीरों का ख़ेमा क़ाईम न रहेगा
They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked be no more.
