1 क्या तू मगर कोशिस्त से बाहर निकाल सकता है या रस्सी से उसकी ज़बान को दबा सकता है?
Canst thou draw out leviathan with a fish hook? or press down his tongue with a cord?
2 क्या तू उसकी नाक में रस्सी डाल सकता है? या उसका जबड़ा मेख़ से छेद सकता है?
Canst thou put a rope into his nose? or pierce his jaw through with a hook?
3 क्या वह तेरी बहुत मिन्नत समाजत करेगा? या तुझ से मीठी मीठी बातें कहेगा?
Will he make many supplications unto thee? or will he speak soft words unto thee?
4 क्या वह तेरे साथ 'अहद बांधेगा, कि तू उसे हमेशा के लिए नौकर बना ले?
Will he make a covenant with thee, that thou shouldest take him for a servant for ever?
5 क्या तू उससे ऐसे खेलेगा जैसे परिन्दे से? या क्या तू उसे अपनी लड़कियों के लिए बाँध देगा?
Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens?
6 क्या लोग उसकी तिजारत करेंगे? क्या वह उसे सौदागरों में तक़सीम करेंगे?
Shall the bands [of fishermen] make traffic of him? shall they part him among the merchants?
7 क्या तू उसकी खाल को भालों से, या उसके सिर को माहीगीर के तरसूलों से भर सकता है?
Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons, or his head with fish spears?
8 तू अपना हाथ उस पर धरे, तो लड़ाई को याद रख्खेगा और फिर ऐसा न करेगा।
Lay thine hand upon him; remember the battle, and do so no more.
9 देख, उसके बारे में उम्मीद बेफ़ायदा है। क्या कोई उसे देखते ही गिर न पड़ेगा?
Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him?
10 कोई ऐसा तुन्दख़ू नहीं जो उसे छेड़ने की हिम्मत न करे। फिर वह कौन है जो मेरे सामने खड़ा होसके?
None is so fierce that he dare stir him up: who then is he that can stand before me?
11 किस ने मुझे पहले कुछ दिया है कि मैं उसे अदा करूँ? जो कुछ सारे आसमान के नीचे है वह मेरा है।
Who hath first given unto me, that I should repay him? [whatsoever is] under the whole heaven is mine.
12 न मैं उसके 'आज़ा के बारे में ख़ामोश रहूँगा न उसकी ताक़त और ख़ूबसूरत डील डोल के बारे में।
I will not keep silence concerning his limbs, nor his mighty strength, nor his comely proportion.
13 उसके ऊपर का लिबास कौन उतार सकता है? उसके जबड़ों के बीच कौन आएगा?
Who can strip off his outer garment? who shall come within his double bridle?
14 उसके मुँह के किवाड़ों को कौन खोल सकता है? उसके दाँतों का दायरा दहशत नाक है।
Who can open the doors of his face? round about his teeth is terror.
15 उसकी ढालें उसका फ़ख़्र हैं; जो जैसा सख़्त मुहर से पैवस्ता की गई हैं।
His strong scales are [his] pride, shut up together [as with] a close seal.
16 वह एक दूसरी से ऐसी जुड़ी हुई हैं, कि उनके बीच हवा भी नहीं आ सकती।
One is so near to another, that no air can come between them.
17 वह एक दूसरी से एक साथ पैवस्ता हैं; वह आपस में ऐसी जुड़ी हैं कि जुदा नहीं हो सकतीं।
They are joined one to another; they stick together, that they cannot be sundered.
18 उसकी छींकें नूर अफ़्शानी करती हैं उसकी आँखें सुबह के पपोटों की तरह हैं।
His neesings flash forth light, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
19 उसके मुँह से जलती मश'अलें निकलती हैं, और आग की चिंगारियाँ उड़ती हैं।
Out of his mouth go burning torches, and sparks of fire leap forth.
20 उसके नथनों से धुवाँ निकलता है, जैसे खौलती देग और सुलगते सरकंडे से।
Out of his nostrils a smoke goeth, as of a seething pot and [burning] rushes.
21 उसका साँस से कोयलों को दहका देता है, और उसके मुँह से शो'ले निकलते हैं।
His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth forth from his mouth.
22 ताक़त उसकी गर्दन में बसती है, और दहशत उसके आगे आगे चलती “है।
In his neck abideth strength, and terror danceth before him.
23 उसके गोश्त की तहें आपस में जुड़ी हुई हैं; वह उस पर ख़ूब जुड़ी हैं और हट नहीं सकतीं।
The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm upon him; they cannot be moved.
24 उसका दिल पत्थर की तरह मज़बूत है, बल्कि चक्की के निचले पाट की तरह।
His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, firm as the nether millstone.
25 जब ख़ुदा उठ खड़ा होता है, तो ज़बरदस्त लोग डर जाते हैं, और घबराकर ख़ौफ़ज़दा हो जाते हैं।
When he raiseth himself up, the mighty are afraid: by reason of consternation they are beside themselves.
26 अगर कोई उस पर तलवार चलाए, तो उससे कुछ नहीं बनता: न भाले, न तीर, न बरछी से।
If one lay at him with the sword, it cannot avail; nor the spear, the dart, nor the pointed shaft.
27 वह लोहे को भूसा समझता है, और पीतल को गली हुई लकड़ी।
He counteth iron as straw, [and] brass as rotten wood.
28 तीर उसे भगा नहीं सकता, फ़लाख़न के पत्थर उस पर तिनके से हैं।
The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble.
29 लाठियाँ जैसे तिनके हैं, वह बर्छी के चलने पर हँसता है।
Clubs are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the rushing of the javelin.
30 उसके नीचे के हिस्से तेज़ ठीकरों की तरह हैं; वह कीचड़ पर जैसे हेंगा फेरता है।
His underparts are [like] sharp potsherds: he spreadeth [as it were] a threshing wain upon the mire.
31 वह गहराव को देग की तरह खौलाता, और समुन्दर को मरहम की तरह बना देता है।
He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like ointment.
32 वह अपने पीछे चमकीला निशान छोड़ जाता है; गहराव गोया सफ़ेद नज़र आने लगता है।
He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary.
33 ज़मीन पर उसका नज़ीर नहीं, जो ऐसा बेख़ौफ़ पैदा हुआ हो।
Upon earth there is not his like, that is made without fear.
34 वह हर ऊँची चीज़ को देखता है, और सब मग़रूरों का बादशाह है।”
He beholdeth every thing that is high: he is king over all the sons of pride.
