यर्म 40
1 वह कलाम जो ख़ुदावन्द की तरफ़ से यरमियाह पर नाज़िल हुआ, इसके बाद के जिलौदारों के सरदार नबूज़रादान ने उसको रामा से रवाना कर दिया, जब उसने उसे हथकड़ियों से जकड़ा हुआ उन सब ग़ुलामों के बीच पाया जो येरूशलेम और यहूदाह के थे, जिनको ग़ुलाम करके बाबुल को ले जा रहे थे
The word that came unto Jeremiah from the Lord, after Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had dismissed him from Ramah, when he had taken him as he was bound in chains in the midst of all the exiles of Jerusalem and Judah, who were carried away into exile unto Babylon.
2 और जिलौदारों के सरदार ने यरमियाह को लेकर उससे कहा, कि “ख़ुदावन्द तेरे ख़ुदा ने इस बला की, जो इस जगह पर आई ख़बर दी थी।
Then took the captain of the guard Jeremiah, and said unto him, The Lord thy God had spoken this evil over this place;
3 इसलिए ख़ुदावन्द ने उसे नाज़िल किया, और उसने अपने क़ौल के मुताबिक़ किया; क्यूँकि तुम लोगों ने ख़ुदावन्द का गुनाह किया और उसकी नहीं सुनी, इसलिए तुम्हारा ये हाल हुआ।
Now the Lord hath brought it [to fulfillment], and hath done according as he had spoken; because ye had sinned against the Lord, and had not hearkened to his voice; and therefore is this thing come upon you.
4 और देख, आज मैं तुझे इन हथकड़ियों से जो तेरे हाथों में हैं रिहाई देता हूँ। अगर मेरे साथ बाबुल चलना तेरी नज़र में बेहतर हो, तो चल, और मैं तुझ पर ख़ूब निगाह रखूँगा; और अगर मेरे साथ बाबुल चलना तेरी नज़र में बुरा लगे, तो यहीं रह; तमाम मुल्क तेरे सामने है जहाँ तेरा जी चाहे और तू मुनासिब जाने वहीं चला जा।”
And now, behold, I have freed thee this day from the chains which were upon thy hand. If it seem good in thy eyes to come with me to Babylon, come, and I will direct my eye unto thee; but if it seem ill in thy eyes to come with me to Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee; whither it seemeth good and proper in thy eyes to go, thither go.
5 वह वहीं था कि उसने फिर कहा, तू जिदलियाह बिन अख़ीक़ाम बिन साफ़न के पास जिसे शाह — ए — बाबुल ने यहूदाह के शहरों का हाकिम किया है, चला जा और लोगों के बीच उसके साथ रह; वर्ना जहाँ तेरी नज़र में बेहतर हो वहीं चला जा। और जिलौदारों के सरदार ने उसे ख़ुराक और इन'आम देकर रुख़्सत किया।
And as he did not yet turn about, [he said, ] Go then back to Gedalyah the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath appointed governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him in the midst of the people; or wheresoever it seemeth proper in thy eyes to go, go. And the captain of the guard gave him an allowance and a present, and then dismissed him.
6 तब यरमियाह जिदलियाह — बिन — अख़ीक़ाम के पास मिस्फ़ाह में गया, और उसके साथ उन लोगों के बीच, जो उस मुल्क में बाक़ी रह गए थे रहने लगा।
So did Jeremiah come unto Gedalyah the son of Achikam to Mizpah; and he dwelt with him in the midst of the people that had been left in the land.
7 जब लश्करों के सब सरदारों ने और उनके आदमियों ने जो मैदान में रह गए थे, सुना के शाह — ए — बाबुल ने जिदलियाह — बिन — अख़ीक़ाम को मुल्क का हाकिम मुक़र्रर किया है; और मर्दों और 'औरतों और बच्चों को, और ममलुकत के ग़रीबों को जो ग़ुलाम होकर बाबुल को न गए थे, उसके सुपुर्द किया है;
Now when all the captains of the armies who were in the field, they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had appointed Gedalyahu the son of Achikam governor over the land, and that he had entrusted unto him men, and women, and children, and these of the poorest of the land, of those that had not been carried away into exile to Babylon:
8 तो इस्माईल — बिन — नतनियाह और यूहनान और यूनतन बनी क़रिह और सिरायाह — बिन — तनहुमत और बनी 'ईफ़ी नतुफ़ाती और यज़नियाह — बिन — मा'काती अपने आदमियों के साथ जिदलियाह के पास मिस्फ़ाह में आए।
Then came they to Gedalyah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethanyahu, and Jochanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareach, and Serayah the son of Tanchumeth, and the sons of 'Ephai the Netophathite, and Yezanyahu the son of a Ma'achathite, they and their men.
9 और जिद्लियाह — बिन — अख़ीक़ाम — बिन — साफ़न ने उन से और उन के आदमियों से क़सम खाकर कहा, तुम कसदियों की ख़िदमत गुज़ारी से न डरो। अपने मुल्क में बसो, और शाह — ए — बाबुल की ख़िदमत करो तो तुम्हारा भला होगा।
And Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan swore unto them and unto their men, saying, Have no fear to serve the Chaldeans: remain in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it will be well with you.
10 देखो, मैं तो इसलिए मिस्फ़ाह में रहता हूँ कि जो कसदी हमारे पास आएँ, उनकी ख़िदमत में हाज़िर रहूँ पर तुम मय और ताबिस्तानी मेवे, और तेल जमा' करके अपने बर्तनों में रख्खो, और अपने शहरो में जिन पर तुम ने क़ब्ज़ा किया है बसो।
As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to stand before the Chaldeans, who will come unto us; but ye, gather ye together wine, and summer-fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities of which ye have taken possession.
11 और इसी तरह जब उन सब यहूदियों ने जो मोआब और बनी 'अम्मोन और अदोम' और तमाम मुमालिक में थे, सुना कि शाह — ए — बाबुल ने यहूदाह के चन्द लोगों को रहने दिया है, और जिदलियाह — बिन — अख़ीक़ाम — बिन — साफ़न को उन पर हाकिम मुक़र्रर किया है;
And so likewise all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the children of 'Ammon, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant unto Judah, and that he had appointed over them Gedalyahu the son of Achikam the son of Shaphan;
12 तो सब यहूदी हर जगह से, जहाँ वह तितर — बितर किए गए थे, लौटे और यहूदाह के मुल्क में मिस्फ़ाह में जिदलियाह के पास आए, और मय और ताबिस्तानी मेवे कसरत से जमा' किए।
And then did all the Jews return out of all places whither they had been driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedalyahu, unto Mizpah, and gathered together wine and summer-fruits in very great abundance.
13 और यूहनान — बिन — क़रीह और लश्करों के सब सरदार जो मैदानों में थे, मिस्फ़ाह में जिदलियाह के पास आए
And Jochanan the son of Kareach, and all the captains of the armies that were in the field, came to Gedalyahu to Mizpah,
14 और उससे कहने लगे, क्या तू जानता है कि बनी 'अम्मोन के बादशाह बा'लीस ने इस्माईल — बिन — नतनियाह को इसलिए भेजा है कि तुझे क़त्ल करे? लेकिन जिदलियाह — बिन — अख़ीक़ाम ने उनका यक़ीन न किया।
And they said unto him, Dost thou at all know that Ba'alis the king of the children of 'Ammon hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethanyah to deprive thee of life? But Gedalyahu the son of Achikam believed them not.
15 और यूहनान — बिन — क़रीह ने मिस्फ़ाह में जिदलियाह से तन्हाई में कहा, इजाज़त हो तो मैं इस्माईल — बिन — नतनियाह को क़त्ल करूँ, और इसको कोई न जानेगा; वह क्यूँ तुझे क़त्ल करे, और सब यहूदी जो तेरे पास जमा' हुए हैं, तितर — बितर किए जाएँ, और यहूदाह के बाक़ी मान्दा लोग हलाक हों?
And Jochanan the son of Kareach said to Gedalyahu secretly in Mizpah, as followeth, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethanyah, and no man shall know of it: wherefore should he deprive thee of life, whereby all the Jews who are gathered unto thee would be scattered, and the remnant of Judah be lost?
16 लेकिन जिदलियाह — बिन — अख़ीक़ाम ने यूहनान — बिन — क़रीह से कहा, तू ऐसा काम हरगिज़ न करना, क्यूँकि तू इस्माईल के बारे में झूट कहता है।
But Gedalyahu the son of Achikam said unto Jochanan the son of Kareach, Thou shalt not do this thing; for thou speakest a falsehood concerning Ishmael.
