हबक़् 1
1 हबक़्क़ूक़क़ नबी के ख़्वाब की नबुव्वत के बारे में:
The burden that Habakkuk the prophet hath seen:
2 ऐ ख़ुदावन्द, मैं कब तक फ़रियाद करूँगा, और तू न सुनेगा? मैं तेरे सामने कब तक चिल्लाऊँगा “ज़ुल्म”, “ज़ुल्म” और तू न बचाएगा?
Till when, O Jehovah, have I cried, And Thou dost not hear? I cry unto Thee — 'Violence,' and Thou dost not save.
3 तू क्यूँ मुझे बद किरदारी और टेढ़ी रविश दिखाता है? क्यूँकि ज़ुल्म और सितम मेरे सामने हैं फ़ितना — ओ — फ़साद खड़े होते रहते हैं।
Why dost Thou shew me iniquity, And perversity dost cause to behold? And spoiling and violence [are] before me, And there is strife, and contention doth lift [itself] up,
4 इसलिए शरी'अत कमज़ोर हो गई, और इन्साफ़ मुतलक़ जारी नहीं होता। क्यूँकि शरीर सादिक़ो को घेर लेते हैं; इसलिए इन्साफ़ का खू़न हो रहा है।
Therefore doth law cease, And judgment doth not go forth for ever, For the wicked is compassing the righteous, Therefore wrong judgment goeth forth.
5 क़ौमों पर नज़र करो, और देखो; और हैरान हो; क्यूँकि मैं तुम्हारे दिनों में एक ऐसा काम करने को हूँ कि अगर कोई तुम से उसका बयान करे तो तुम हरगिज़ उम्मीद न करोगे।
Look ye on nations, and behold and marvel greatly. For a work He is working in your days, Ye do not believe though it is declared.
6 क्यूँकि देखो, मैं कसदियों को चढ़ालाऊँगा: वह गु़स्सावर और कम'अक़्ल क़ौम हैं, जो चौड़ी ज़मीन से होकर गुज़रते हैं, ताकि उन बस्तियों पर जो उनकी नहीं हैं, क़ब्ज़ा कर लें।
For, lo, I am raising up the Chaldeans, The bitter and hasty nation, That is going to the broad places of earth, To occupy tabernacles not its own.
7 वह डरावने और ख़ौफ़नाक हैं: वह खु़द ही अपनी 'अदालत और शान का मसदर हैं।
Terrible and fearful it [is], From itself its judgment and its excellency go forth.
8 उनके घोड़े चीतों से भी तेज़ रफ़्तार, और शाम को निकलने वाले भेड़ियों से ज़्यादा खू़ँख़्वार हैं; और उनके सवार कूदते फाँदते आते हैं। हाँ, वह दूर से चले आते हैं, वह उक़ाब की तरह हैं, जो अपने शिकार पर झपटता है।
Swifter than leopards have been its horses, And sharper than evening wolves, And increased have its horsemen, Even its horsemen from afar come in, They fly as an eagle, hasting to consume.
9 वह सब ग़ारतगरी को आते हैं, वह सीधे बढ़े चले आते हैं; और उनके गु़लाम रेत के ज़र्रों की तरह बेशुमार होते हैं।
Wholly for violence it doth come in, Their faces swallowing up the east wind, And it doth gather as the sand a captivity.
10 वह बादशाहों को ठठ्ठों में उड़ाते, और 'उमरा को मसख़रा बनाते हैं। वह क़िलों' को हक़ीर जानते हैं, क्यूँकि वह मिट्टी से दमदमें बाँधकर उनको फ़तह कर लेते हैं।
And at kings it doth scoff, And princes [are] a laughter to it, At every fenced place it doth laugh, And it heapeth up dust, and captureth it.
11 तब वह हवा के झोंके की तरह गुज़रते और ख़ता करके गुनहगार होते हैं, क्यूँकि उनका ज़ोर ही उनका ख़ुदा है।
Then passed on hath the spirit, Yea, he doth transgress, And doth ascribe this his power to his god.
12 ऐ ख़ुदावन्द मेरे ख़ुदा, ऐ मेरे कु़द्दूस, क्या तू अज़ल से नहीं है? हम नहीं मरेंगे। ऐ ख़ुदावन्द, तूने उनको 'अदालत के लिए ठहराया है, और ऐ चट्टान, तू ने उनको तादीब के लिए मुक़र्रर किया है।
Art not Thou of old, O Jehovah, my God, my Holy One? We do not die, O Jehovah, For judgment Thou hast appointed it, And, O Rock, for reproof Thou hast founded it.
13 तेरी आँखें ऐसी पाक हैं कि तू गुनाह को देख नहीं सकता, और टेढ़ी रविश पर निगाह नहीं कर सकता। फिर तू दग़ाबाज़ों पर क्यूँ नज़र करता है, और जब शरीर अपने से ज़्यादा सादिक़ को निगल जाता है, तब तू क्यूँ ख़ामोश रहता है?
Purer of eyes than to behold evil, To look on perverseness Thou art not able, Why dost Thou behold the treacherous? Thou keepest silent when the wicked Doth swallow the more righteous than he,
14 और बनी आदम को समन्दर की मछलियों, और कीड़े — मकौड़ों की तरह बनाता है जिन पर कोई हुकूमत करने वाला नहीं?
And Thou makest man as fishes of the sea, As a creeping thing — none ruling over him.
15 वह उन सब को शस्त से उठा लेते हैं, और अपने जाल में फँसाते हैं; और महाजाल में जमा' करते हैं, इसलिए वह शादमान और ख़ुश वक़्त हैं।
Each of them with a hook he hath brought up, He doth catch it in his net, and gathereth it in his drag, Therefore he doth joy and rejoice.
16 इसीलिए वह अपने जाल के आगे क़ुर्बानी अदा करते हैं और अपने बड़े जाल के आगे ख़ुश्बू जलाते हैं, क्यूँकि इनके वसीले से उनका हिस्सा लज़ीज़, और उनकी ग़िज़ा चिकनी है।
Therefore he doth sacrifice to his net, And doth make perfume to his drag, For by them [is] his portion fertile, and his food fat.
17 इसलिए क्या वह अपने जाल को ख़ाली करने और क़ौमों को बराबर क़त्ल करने से बाज़ न आएँगे?
Doth he therefore empty his net, And continually to slay nations spare not?
