पैदाइश 38
1 उन्ही दिनों में ऐसा हुआ कि यहूदाह अपने भाइयों से जुदा हो कर एक 'अदूल्लामी आदमी के पास, जिसका नाम हीरा था गया।
And at that time Iudah went downe from his brethren, and turned in to a man called Hirah an Adullamite.
2 और यहूदाह ने वहाँ सुवा' नाम किसी कना'नी की बेटी को देखा और उससे ब्याह करके उसके पास गया।
And Iudah sawe there the daughter of a man called Suah a Canaanite: and he tooke her to wife, and went in vnto her.
3 वह हामिला हुई और उसके एक बेटा हुआ, जिसका नाम उसने 'एर रख्खा।
So she conceiued and bare a sonne, and he called his name Er.
4 और वह फिर हामिला हुई और एक बेटा हुआ और उसका नाम ओनान रख्खा।
And she conceiued againe, and bare a sonne, and she called his name Onan.
5 फिर उसके एक और बेटा हुआ और उसका नाम सीला रख्खा, और यहूदाह कज़ीब में था जब इस 'औरत के यह लड़का हुआ।
Moreouer she bare yet a sonne, whome she called Shelah: and Iudah was at Chezib when she bare him.
6 और यहूदाह अपने पहलौठे बेटे 'एर के लिए एक 'औरत ब्याह लाया जिसका नाम तमर था।
Then Iudah tooke a wife to Er his first borne sonne whose name was Tamar.
7 और यहूदाह का पहलौठा बेटा 'एर ख़ुदावन्द की निगाह में शरीर था, इसलिए ख़ुदावन्द ने उसे हलाक कर दिया।
Now Er the first borne of Iudah was wicked in the sight of the Lord: therefore the Lord slewe him.
8 तब यहूदाह ने ओनान से कहा किअपने भाई की बीवी के पास जा और देवर का हक़ अदा कर ताकि तेरे भाई के नाम से नसल चले।
Then Iudah said to Onan, Goe in vnto thy brothers wife, and do the office of a kinsman vnto her, and raise vp seede vnto thy brother.
9 और ओनान जानता था कि यह नसल मेरी न कहलाएगी, इसलिए यूँ हुआ कि जब वह अपने भाई की बीवी के पास जाता तो नुत्फ़े को ज़मीन पर गिरा देता था कि मबादा उसके भाई के नाम से नसल चले।
And Onan knewe that the seede should not be his: therefore when he went in vnto his brothers wife, he spilled it on the grounde, least he should giue seede vnto his brother.
10 और उसका यह काम ख़ुदावन्द की नज़र में बहुत बुरा था, इसलिए उसने उसे भी हलाक किया।
And it was wicked in the eyes of the Lord, which he did: wherefore he slewe him also.
11 तब यहूदाह ने अपनी बहू तमर से कहा कि मेरे बेटे सीला के बालिग़ होने तक तू अपने बाप के घर बेवा बैठी रह। क्यूँकि उसने सोचा कि कहीं यह भी अपने भाइयों की तरह हलाक न हो जाए। तब तमर अपने बाप के घर में जाकर रहने लगी।
Then said Iudah to Tamar his daughter in lawe, Remaine a widowe in thy fathers house, till Shelah my sonne growe vp (for he thought thus, Least he die as well as his brethren.) So Tamar went and dwelt in her fathers house.
12 और एक 'अरसे के बाद ऐसा हुआ कि सुवा' की बेटी जो यहूदाह की बीवी थी मर गई, और जब यहूदाह को उसका ग़म भूला तो वह अपने 'अदूल्लामी दोस्त हीरा के साथ अपनी भेड़ो की ऊन के कतरने वालों के पास तिमनत को गया।
And in processe of time also the daughter of Shuah Iudahs wife dyed. Then Iudah, when he had left mourning, went vp to his sheepe sherers to Timnah, he, and his neighbour Hirah the Adullamite.
13 और तमर की यह ख़बर मिली कि तेरा ख़ुसर अपनी भेड़ो की ऊन कतरने के लिए तिमनत को जा रहा है।
And it was tolde Tamar, saying, beholde, thy father in lawe goeth vp to Timnah, to shere his sheepe.
14 तब उसने अपने रंडापे के कपड़ों को उतार फेंका और बुर्का ओढ़ा और अपने को ढांका और 'ऐनीम के फाटक के बराबर जो तिमनत की राह पर है, जा बैठी क्यूँकि उसने देखा कि सीला बालिग़ हो गया मगर यह उससे ब्याही नहीं गई।
Then she put her widowes garments off from her, and couered her with a vaile, and wrapped her selfe, and sate downe in Pethah-enaim, which is by the way to Timnah, because she sawe that Shelah was growen, and she was not giuen vnto him to wife.
15 यहूदाह उसे देख कर समझा कि कोई कस्बी है, क्यूँकि उसने अपना मुँह ढाँक रख्खा था।
When Iudah sawe her, he iudged her an whore: for she had couered her face.
16 इसलिए वह रास्ते से उसकी तरफ़ को फिरा और उससे कहने लगा कि जरा मुझे अपने साथ मुबासरत कर लेने दे, क्यूँकि इसे बिल्कुल नहीं मा'लूम था कि वह इसकी बहू है। उसने कहा, तू मुझे क्या देगा ताकि मेरे साथ मुबाश्रत करे।
And he turned to the way towardes her, and saide, Come, I pray thee, let me lie with thee. (for he knewe not that she was his daughter in lawe) And she answered, What wilt thou giue me for to lie with me?
17 उसने कहा, “मैं रेवड़ में से बकरी का एक बच्चा तुझे भेज दूँगा।” उसने कहा कि उसके भेजने तक तू मेरे पास कुछ रहन कर देगा।
Then said he, I will sende thee a kid of the goates from the flocke. and she said, Well, if thou wilt giue me a pledge, till thou sende it.
18 उसने कहा, “तुझे रहन क्या दूँ?” उसने कहा, “अपनी मुहर और अपना बाजू बंद और अपनी लाठी जो तेरे हाथ में है।” उसने यह चीजें उसे दीं और उसके साथ मुबाश्रत की, और वह उससे हामिला हो गई।
Then he saide, What is the pledge that I shall giue thee? And she answered, Thy signet, and thy cloke, and thy staffe that is in thine hande. So he gaue it her, and lay by her, and she was with childe by him.
19 फिर वह उठ कर चली गई और बुरका उतार कर रंडापे का जोड़ा पहन लिया।
Then she rose, and went and put her vaile from her and put on her widowes raiment.
20 और यहूदाह ने अपने 'अदूल्लामी दोस्त के हाथ बकरी का बच्चा भेजा ताकि उस 'औरत के पास से अपना रहन वापिस मंगाए, लेकिन वह 'औरत उसे न मिली।
Afterwarde Iudah sent a kid of the goates by the hande of his neighbour the Adullamite, for to receiue his pledge from the womans hand: but he found her not.
21 तब उसने उस जगह के लोगों से पूछा, “वह कस्बी जो ऐनीम में रास्ते के बराबर बैठी थी कहाँ है?” उन्होंने कहा, यहाँ कोई कस्बी नहीं थी।
Then asked he the men of that place, saying, Where is ye whore, that sate in Enaim by the way side? And they answered, There was no whore here.
22 तब उसने यहूदाह के पास लौट कर उसे बताया कि वह मुझे नहीं मिली; और वहाँ के लोग भी कहते थे कि वहाँ कोई कस्बी नहीं थी।
He came therefore to Iudah againe, and said, I can not finde her, and also the men of the place said, There was no whore there.
23 यहूदाह ने कहा, “ख़ैर! उस रहन को वही रख्खे, हम तो बदनाम न हों; मैंने तो बकरी का बच्चा भेजा लेकिन वह तुझे नहीं मिली।”
Then Iudah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: beholde, I sent this kid, and thou hast not found her.
24 और करीबन तीन महीने के बाद यहूदाह को यह ख़बर मिली कि तेरी बहू तमर ने ज़िना किया और उसे छिनाले का हम्ल भी है। यहूदाह ने कहा कि उसे बाहर निकाल लाओ कि वह जलाई जाए।
Now after three moneths, one tolde Iudah, saying, Tamar thy daughter in law hath played the whore, and lo, with playing the whore, she is great with childe. Then Iudah saide, Bring ye her foorth and let her be burnt.
25 जब उसे बाहर निकाला तो उसने अपने खुसर को कहला भेजा कि मेरे उसी शख़्स का हम्ल है जिसकी यह चीजें हैं। इसलिए तू पहचान तो सही कि यह मुहर और बाजूबन्द और लाठी किसकी है।
When she was brought foorth, she sent to her father in law, saying, By the man, vnto whom these things pertaine, am I with childe: and saide also, Looke, I pray thee, whose these are, the seale, and the cloke, and the staffe.
26 तब यहूदाह ने इक़रार किया और कहा, “वह मुझ से ज़्यादा सच्ची है, क्यूँकि मैंने उसे अपने बेटे सीला से नहीं ब्याहा।” और वह फिर कभी उसके पास न गया।
Then Iudah knewe them, and said, She is more righteous then I: for she hath done it because I gaue her not to Shelah my sonne. So he lay with her no more.
27 और उसके वज़ा — ए — हम्ल के वक़्त मा'लूम हुआ कि उसके पेट में तौअम हैं।
Now, when the time was come that she should be deliuered, beholde, there were twinnes in her wombe.
28 और जब वह जनने लगी तो एक बच्चे का हाथ बाहर आया और दाई ने पकड़ कर उसके हाथ में लाल डोरा बाँध दिया, और कहने लगी, “यह पहले पैदा हुआ।”
And when she was in trauell, the one put out his hand: and the midwife tooke and bound a red threde about his hand, saying, This is come out first.
29 और यूँ हुआ कि उसने अपना हाथ फिर खींच लिया, इतने में उसका भाई पैदा हो गया। तब वह दाई बोल उठी कि तू कैसे ज़बरदस्ती निकल पड़ा तब उसका नाम फ़ारस रख्खा गया।
But when he plucked his hand backe againe, loe, his brother came out, and the midwife said, How hast thou broken the breach vpon thee? and his name was called Pharez.
30 फिर उसका भाई जिसके हाथ में लाल डोरा बंधा था, पैदा हुआ और उसका नाम ज़ारह रख्खा गया।
And afterward came out his brother that had the red threde about his hande, and his name was called Zarah.
