1 और उसका बेटा यहूसफ़त उसकी जगह बादशाह हुआ, और उसने इस्राईल के मुक़ाबिल अपने आपको मज़बूत किया।
And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
2 उसने यहूदाह के सब फ़सीलदार शहरों में फ़ौजें रखी, और यहूदाह के मुल्क में और इफ़्राईम के उन शहरों में जिनको उसके बाप आसा ने ले लिया था, चौकियाँ बिठाई।
And he placed forces in all the fortified cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim that Asa his father had taken.
3 और ख़ुदावन्द यहूसफ़त के साथ था, क्यूँकि उसका चाल चलन उसके बाप दाऊद के पहले तरीक़ों पर थी, और वह बा'लीम का तालिब न हुआ,
And Jehovah was with Jehoshaphat, for he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto the Baals;
4 बल्कि अपने बाप — दादा के ख़ुदा का तालिब हुआ और उसके हुक्मों पर चलता रहा, और इस्राईल के से काम न किए।
but he sought the God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
5 इसलिए ख़ुदावन्द ने उसके हाथ में हुकूमत को मज़बूत किया; और सारा यहूदाह यहूसफ़त के पास हदिए लाया, और उसकी दौलत और 'इज़्ज़त बहुत फ़रावान हुई।
And Jehovah established the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah gave gifts to Jehoshaphat; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
6 उसका दिल ख़ुदावन्द के रास्तों में बहुत ख़ुश था, और उसने ऊँचे मक़ामों और यसीरतों को यहूदाह में से दूर कर दिया।
And he took courage in the ways of Jehovah; moreover, he removed the high places and Asherahs out of Judah.
7 और अपनी हुकूमत के तीसरे साल उसने बिनखैल और अबदियाह और ज़करियाह और नतनीएल और मीकायाह को, जो उसके हाकिम थे, यहूदाह के शहरों में ता'लीम देने को भेजा:
And in the third year of his reign he sent his princes, Ben-hail, and Obadiah, and Zechariah, and Nethaneel, and Micah, to teach in the cities of Judah;
8 और उनके साथ यह लावी थे या'नी समा'याह और नतनियाह और ज़बदियाह और 'असाहेल और समीरामोत और यहूनतन और अदूनियाह और तूबियाह और तूब अदूनियाह लावियों में से, और इनके साथ इलीसमा' और यहूराम काहिनों में से थे।
and with them the Levites: Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tob-Adonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, the priests.
9 इसोलिए उन्होंने ख़ुदावन्द की शरी'अत की किताब साथ रख कर यहूदाह को ता'लीम दी, और वह यहूदाह के सब शहरों में गए और लोगों को ता'लीम दी।
And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of Jehovah with them; and they went about through all the cities of Judah, and taught among the people.
10 और ख़ुदावन्द का ख़ौफ़ यहूदाह के पास पास की मुल्कों की सब हुकूमतों पर छा गया, यहाँ तक कि उन्होंने यहूसफ़त से कभी जंग न की।
And the terror of Jehovah was upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, and they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
11 बा'ज़ कुछ फ़िलिस्ती यहूसफ़त के पास हदिए और ख़िराज में चाँदी लाए, और 'अरब के लोग भी उसके पास रेवड़ लाए, या'नी सात हज़ार सात सौ मेंढे और सात हज़ार सात सौ बकरे।
And some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat gifts and tribute-silver. The Arabians also brought him flocks, seven thousand seven hundred rams, and seven thousand seven hundred he-goats.
12 और यहूसफ़त बहुत ही बढ़ा और उसने यहूदाह में क़िले' और ज़ख़ीरे के शहर बनाए,
And Jehoshaphat waxed exceeding great; and he built in Judah castles and store-cities.
13 और यहूदाह के शहरों में उसके बहुत से कारोबार और येरूशलेम में उसके जंगी जवान या'नी ताक़तवर सूर्मा थे,
And he had much business in the cities of Judah; and men of war, strong and valiant, in Jerusalem.
14 और उनका शुमार अपने अपने आबाई ख़ान्दान के मुवाफ़िक़ यह था: यहूदाह में से हज़ारों के सरदार यह थे, सरदार 'अदना और उसके साथ तीन लाख ताक़तवर सूर्मा,
And these are the numbers of them according to their fathers' houses. Of Judah the captains of thousands: Adnah the captain, and with him three hundred thousand mighty men of valour;
15 और उससे दूसरे दर्जे पर सरदार यूहनान और उसके साथ दो लाख अस्सी हज़ार,
and next to him was Johanan the captain, and with him two hundred and eighty thousand;
16 और उससे नीचे 'अमसियाह बिन ज़िकरी था, जिसने अपने को बख़ुशी ख़ुदावन्द के लिए पेश किया था, और उस के साथ दो लाख ताक़तवर सूर्मा थे;
and next to him, Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself to Jehovah; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
17 और बिनयमीन में से, इलीयदा' एक ताक़तवर सूर्मा था और उसके साथ कमान और सिपर से मुसल्लह दो लाख थे;
And of Benjamin: Eliada, a mighty man of valour, and with him two hundred thousand, armed with bow and shield;
18 और उससे नीचे यहूज़बद था, और उसके साथ एक लाख अस्सी हज़ार थे जो जंग के लिए तैयार रहते थे।
and next to him was Jehozabad, and with him a hundred and eighty thousand ready prepared for war.
19 यह बादशाह के ख़िदमत गुज़ार थे, और उनसे अलग थे जिनको बादशाह ने तमाम यहूदाह के फ़सीलदार शहरों में रख्खा था।
These were they that waited on the king, besides those that the king had put in the fortified cities throughout Judah.
