1 समु 12

1 तब समुएल ने सब इस्राईलियों से कहा, “देखो जो कुछ तुमने मुझ से कहा, मैंने तुम्हारी एक एक बात मानी और एक बादशाह तुम्हारे ऊपर ठहराया है।

Samuel said to all Israel, “I have listened to everything you said to me, and I have set a king over you.

2 और अब देखो यह बादशाह तुम्हारे आगे आगे चलता है, मैं तो बुड्ढा हूँ और मेरा सिर सफ़ेद हो गया और देखो मेरे बेटे तुम्हारे साथ हैं, मैं लड़कपन से आज तक तुम्हारे सामने ही चलता रहा हूँ।

Now, here is the king walking before you; and I am old and gray; and, my sons are with you. I have walked before you from my youth until today.

3 मैं हाज़िर हूँ, इसलिए तुम ख़ुदावन्द और उसके मम्सूह के आगे मेरे मुँह पर बताओ, कि मैंने किसका बैल ले लिया या किसका गधा लिया? मैंने किसका हक़ मारा या किस पर ज़ुल्म किया, या किस के हाथ से मैंने रिश्वत ली, ताकि अंधा बनज़ाऊँ? बताओ और यह मैं तुमको वापस कर दूँगा।”

Here I am; testify against me before Yahweh and before his anointed one. Whose ox have I taken? Whose donkey have I taken? Whom have I defrauded? Whom have I oppressed? From whose hand have I taken a bribe to blind my eyes with? Testify against me, and I will restore it to you.”

4 उन्होंने जवाब दिया “तूने हमारा हक़ नहीं मारा और न हम पर ज़ुल्म किया, और न तूने किसी के हाथ से कुछ लिया।”

They said, “You have not cheated us, oppressed us, or have stolen anything from any man's hand.”

5 तब उसने उनसे कहा, कि ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारा गवाह, और उसका मम्सूह आज के दिन गवाह है, “कि मेरे पास तुम्हारा कुछ नहीं निकला।” उन्होंने कहा, “वह गवाह है।”

He said to them, “Yahweh is witness against you, and his anointed one is witness today, that you have found nothing in my hand.” They replied, “Yahweh is witness.”

6 फिर समुएल लोगों से कहने लगा, वह ख़ुदावन्द ही है जिसने मूसा और हारून को मुक़र्रर किया, और तुम्हारे बाप दादा को मुल्क मिस्र से निकाल लाया।

Samuel said to the people, “It is Yahweh who appointed Moses and Aaron, and who brought your fathers up from the land of Egypt.

7 इस लिए अब ठहरे रहो ताकि मैं ख़ुदावन्द के सामने उन सब नेकियों के बारे में जो ख़ुदावन्द ने तुम से और तुम्हारे बाप दादा से कीं बातें करूँ।

Now then, present yourself, so that I may plead with you before Yahweh about all of the righteous deeds of Yahweh, which he did for you and your fathers.

8 जब या'क़ूब मिस्र में गया, और तुम्हारे बाप दादा ने ख़ुदावन्द से फ़रियाद की तो ख़ुदावन्द ने मूसा और हारून को भेजा, जिन्होंने तुम्हारे बाप दादा को मिस्र से निकाल कर इस जगह बसाया।

When Jacob came to Egypt, and your ancestors cried out to Yahweh, then Yahweh sent Moses and Aaron, who led your ancestors out of Egypt and they settled in this place.

9 लेकिन वह ख़ुदावन्द अपने ख़ुदा को भूल गए, तब उसने उनको हसूर की फ़ौज के सिपह सालार सीसरा के हाथ और फ़िलिस्तियों के हाथ और शाह — ए — मोआब के हाथ बेच डाला, और वह उनसे लड़े।

But they forgot Yahweh their God; he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the armies of Hazor, into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab; these all fought against your ancestors.

10 फिर उन्होंने ख़ुदावन्द से फ़रियाद की और कहा कि हमने गुनाह किया, इसलिए कि हमने ख़ुदावन्द को छोड़ा, और बा'लीम और इस्तारात की इबादत की लेकिन अब तू हमको हमारे दुश्मनों के हाथ, से छुड़ा, तो हम तेरी इबादत करेंगे।

They cried out to Yahweh and said, 'We have sinned, because we have forsaken Yahweh and have served the Baals and the Ashtoreths. But now rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and we will serve you.'

11 इस लिए ख़ुदावन्द ने यरुब्बा'ल और बिदान और इफ़्ताह और समुएल को भेजा और तुम को तुम्हारे दुश्मनों के हाथ से जो तुम्हारी चारों तरफ़ थे, रिहाई दी और तुम चैन से रहने लगे।

So Yahweh sent Jerub Baal, Bedan, Jephthah, and Samuel, and gave you victory over your enemies all around you, so that you lived in security.

12 और जब तुमने देखा कि बनी अम्मून का बादशाह नाहस तुम पर चढ़ आया, तो तुमने मुझ से कहा कि हम पर कोई बादशाह हुकूमत करे हालाँकि ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारा ख़ुदा तुम्हारा बादशाह था।

When you saw that Nahash the king of the people of Ammon came against you, you said to me, 'No! Instead, a king must reign over us'—although Yahweh your God, was your king.

13 इसलिए अब उस बादशाह को देखो जिसे तुमने चुन लिया, और जिसके लिए तुमने दरख़्वास्त की थी, देखो ख़ुदावन्द ने तुम पर बादशाह मुक़र्रर कर दिया है।

Now here is the king whom you have chosen, whom you have asked for and whom Yahweh has now appointed as king over you.

14 अगर तुम ख़ुदावन्द से डरते और उसकी इबादत करते और उस की बात मानते रहो, और ख़ुदावन्द के हुक्म से सरकशी न करो और तुम और वह बादशाह भी जो तुम पर हुकूमत करता है ख़ुदावन्द अपने ख़ुदा के पैरौ बने रहो तो भला;

If you fear Yahweh, serve him, obey his voice, and not rebel against the command of Yahweh, then both you and the king who reigns over you will be followers of Yahweh your God.

15 लेकिन अगर तुम ख़ुदावन्द की बात न मानों बल्कि ख़ुदावन्द के हुक्म से सरकशी करो तो ख़ुदावन्द का हाथ तुम्हारे ख़िलाफ़ होगा, जैसे वह तुम्हारे बाप दादा के ख़िलाफ़ होता था।

If you do not obey the voice of Yahweh, but rebel against the commands of Yahweh, then Yahweh's hand will be against you, as it was against your ancestors.

16 इसलिए अब तुम ठहरे रहो और इस बड़े काम को देखो जिसे ख़ुदावन्द तुम्हारी आँखों के सामने करेगा।

Even now present yourself and see this great thing which Yahweh will do before your eyes.

17 क्या आज गेहूँ काटने का दिन नही, मैं ख़ुदावन्द से दरख़्वास्त करूँगा, कि बादल गरजे और पानी बरसे, और तुम जान लोगे, और देख भी लोगे कि तुमने ख़ुदावन्द के सामने अपने लिए, बादशाह माँगने से कितनी बड़ी शरारत की।

Is it not the wheat harvest today? I will call upon Yahweh, that he may send thunder and rain. Then you will know and see that your wickedness is great, which you have done in the sight of Yahweh, in asking for yourselves a king.”

18 चुनाँचे समुएल ने ख़ुदावन्द से दरख़्वास्त की और ख़ुदावन्द की तरफ़ से उसी दिन बादल गरजा और पानी बरसा; तब सब लोग ख़ुदावन्द और समुएल से निहायत डर गए।

So Samuel called to Yahweh; and that same day Yahweh sent thunder and rain. Then all the people greatly feared Yahweh and Samuel.

19 और सब लोगों ने समुएल से कहा, कि अपने ख़ादिमों के लिए ख़ुदावन्द अपने ख़ुदा से दुआ कर कि हम मर न जाएँ क्यूँकि हमने अपने सब गुनाहों पर यह शरारत भी बढ़ा दी है कि अपने लिए एक बादशाह माँगा।

Then all the people said to Samuel, “Pray for your servants to Yahweh your God, so that we do not die. For we have added to all our sins this evil in asking for a king for ourselves.”

20 समुएल ने लोगों से कहा, “खौफ़ न करो, यह सब शरारत तो तुमने की है तो भी ख़ुदावन्द की पैरवी से किनारा कशी न करो बल्कि अपने सारे दिल से ख़ुदावन्द की इबादत करो।

Samuel replied, “Do not be afraid. You have done all this evil, but do not turn away from Yahweh, but serve Yahweh with all your heart.

21 तुम किनारा कशी न करना, वरना बातिल चीज़ों की पैरवी करने लगोगे जो न फ़ायदा पहुंचा सकती न रिहाई दे सकती हैं, इसलिए कि वह सब बातिल हैं।

Do not turn away after empty things that cannot profit or rescue you, because they are useless.

22 क्यूँकि ख़ुदावन्द अपने बड़े नाम के ज़रिए' अपने लोगों को नहीं छोड़ेगा, इस लिए कि ख़ुदावन्द को यही पसंद आया कि तुम को अपनी क़ौम बनाए।

For the sake of his great name, Yahweh will not reject his people, because it has pleased Yahweh to make you a people for himself.

23 अब रहा मैं इसलिए ख़ुदा न करे कि तुम्हारे लिए दुआ करने से बाज़ आकर ख़ुदावन्द का गुनहगार ठहरुँ, बल्कि मैं वही रास्ता जो अच्छा और सीधा है, तुमको बताऊँगा।

As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against Yahweh by ceasing to pray for you. Instead, I will teach you the way that is good and right.

24 सिर्फ़ इतना हो कि तुम ख़ुदावन्द से डरो, और अपने सारे दिल और सच्चाई से उसकी इबादत करो क्यूँकि सोचो कि उसने तुम्हारे लिए कैसे बड़े काम किए हैं।

Only fear Yahweh and serve him in truth with all your heart. Consider the great things he has done for you.

25 लेकिन अगर तुम अब भी शरारत ही करते जाओ, तो तुम और तुम्हारा बादशाह दोनों के दोनों मिटा दिए जाओगे।”

But if you persist in doing evil, both you and your king will be destroyed.”
