Псалми 78
1 Пісня навча́льна Асафова.
Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my law; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2 нехай я відкрию уста́ свої при́казкою, нехай старода́вні прислі́в'я я ви́словлю!
I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings of old:
3 Що́ ми чули й пізнали, і що́ розповідали батьки́ наші нам, —
Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4 того не сховаємо від їхніх сині́в, будемо розповіда́ти про славу Господню аж до покоління оста́ннього, і про силу Його та про чу́да Його, які Він учинив!
We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wondrous works that he hath done.
5 Він поставив засві́дчення в Якові, а Зако́на поклав ув Ізраїлі, про які наказав був Він нашим батька́м завідо́мити про них синів їхніх,
For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
6 щоб знало про це поколі́ння майбу́тнє, сини, що наро́джені будуть, — уста́нуть і будуть розповідати своїм дітям.
That the generation to come might know [them], even the children which should be born; who should arise and tell [them] to their children:
7 І положать на Бога надію свою, і не забудуть діл Божих, Його ж заповіді берегти́муть.
That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
8 І не стануть вони, немов їхні батьки́, поколі́нням непокі́рливим та бунтівни́чим, поколінням, що серця свого́ не поста́вило міцно, і що дух його Богу невірний.
And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
9 Сини Єфрема, озбро́єні лу́чники, повернулися взад у день бо́ю:
The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
10 вони не берегли́ заповіту Божого, а ходити в Зако́ні Його відреклися,
They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
11 і забули вони Його чи́ни та чу́да Його, які їм показав.
And they forgat his doings, and his wondrous works that he had shewed them.
12 Він чудо вчинив був для їхніх батькі́в ув єгипетськім кра́ї, на полі Цоа́нськім:
Marvelous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13 Він море розсік, і їх перепрова́див, а воду поставив, як вал;
He clave the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.
14 і прова́див їх хмарою вдень, а ся́йвом огню́ цілу ніч;
In the day-time also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
15 на пустині Він скелі розсік, і щедро усіх напоїв, як з безо́дні.
He clave rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths.
16 Він витягнув із скелі пото́ки, і во́ди текли, немов ріки.
He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17 Та гріши́ли вони проти Нього ще да́лі, і в пустіші гніви́ли Всевишнього,
Yet went they on still to sin against him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.
18 і Бога вони випробо́вували в своїм серці, для душ своїх ї́жі бажаючи.
And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.
19 І вони говорили насу́проти Бога й казали: „Чи Бог зможе в пустині трапе́зу згото́вити?“
Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
20 Тож ударив у скелю — і во́ди лину́ли, і полили́ся пото́ки! „Чи Він зможе також дати хліба? Чи Він наготує м'яси́ва наро́дові Своє́му?“
Behold, he smote the rock, that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed; can he give bread also? will he provide flesh for his people?
21 Тому́ то почув це Господь та й розгні́вався, — і огонь запалав проти Якова, і проти Ізраїля теж знявся гнів,
Therefore the LORD heard, and was wroth: and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also went up against Israel;
22 бо не ві́рували вони в Бога, і на спасі́ння Його не наді́ялись.
Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation.
23 А Він хмарам згори наказав, — і відчинив двері неба,
Yet he commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven;
24 і спустив, немов дощ, на них ма́нну для їжі, — і збі́жжя небесне їм дав:
And he rained down manna upon them to eat, and gave them of the corn of heaven.
25 Хліб а́нгольський їла люди́на, Він послав їм поживи до си́тости!
Man did eat the bread of the mighty: he sent them meat to the full.
26 Крім цього, Він схі́днього вітра пору́шив на небі, і міццю Своєю привів полудне́вого вітра, —
He caused the east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he guided the south wind.
27 і дощем на них м'ясо пустив, немов по́рох, а птаство крила́те, як мо́рський пісо́к,
He rained flesh also upon them as the dust, and winged fowl as the sand of the seas:
28 і спустив його серед табо́ру його́, коло наметів його.
And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.
29 І їли вони та й наси́тились ду́же, — Він їм їхнє бажа́ння приніс!
So they did eat, and were well filled; and he gave them that they lusted after.
30 Та ще не вдовольни́ли жада́ння свого́, ще їхня ї́жа була в їхніх уста́х,
They were not estranged from their lust, their meat was yet in their mouths,
31 а гнів Божий підня́вся на них, та й побив їхніх ситих, і вибра́нців Ізраїлевих повали́в.
When the anger of God went up against them, and slew of the fattest of them, and smote down the young men of Israel.
32 Проте́ ще й далі грішили вони та не вірили в чу́да Його,
For all this they sinned still, and believed not in his wondrous works.
33 — і Він докінчи́в у марно́ті їхні дні, а їхні літа́ — у страху.
Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in terror.
34 Як Він їх побива́в, то бажали Його, — і верта́лися, й Бога шукали,
When he slew them, then they inquired after him: and they returned and sought God early.
35 і прига́дували, що Бог — їхня скеля, і Бог Всевишній — то їхній Викупите́ль.
And they remembered that God was their rock, and the Most High God their redeemer.
36 І своїми уста́ми вле́щували Його, а своїм язико́м лжу спліта́ли Йому́,
But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied unto him with their tongue.
37 бо їхнє серце не міцно стояло при Нім, і не були́ вони вірні в Його заповіті.
For their heart was not right with him, neither were they faithful in his covenant.
38 Та він, Милосердний, гріх проща́в і їх не губив, і часто відве́ртав Свій гнів, і не буди́в усю Свою лютість,
But he, being full of compassion, forgave [their] iniquity, and destroyed [them] not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
39 і Він пам'ятав, що вони тільки тіло, вітер, який перехо́дить і не поверта́ється!
And he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
40 Скільки вони прогнівля́ли Його на пустині, зневажа́ли Його на степу́!
How oft did they rebel against him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!
41 І все знову та знов випробо́вували вони Бога, і зневажа́ли Святого Ізра́їлевого, —
And they turned again and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42 вони не пам'ята́ли руки Його з дня, як Він ви́бавив їх із недолі,
They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary.
43 як в Єгипті чинив Він знаме́на Свої, а на полі Цоа́нському чу́да Свої,
How he set his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan;
44 і в кров оберну́в річки їхні та їхні пото́ки, щоб вони не пили́.
And turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, that they could not drink.
45 Він послав був на них рої мух, — і їх же́рли вони, і жаб — і вони їх губили.
He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46 А врожай їхній віддав був Він гу́сені, а їхню пра́цю — сарані́.
He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.
47 Виноград їхній Він гра́дом побив, а при́морозком — їхні шовко́виці.
He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.
48 І Він градові віддав їхній скот, а бли́скавкам — че́реди їхні.
He gave over their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49 Він послав був на них Свій гнів запальни́й, і лютість, й обу́рення, й у́тиск, насла́ння злих анголі́в.
He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, a band of angels of evil.
50 Він дорогу зрівня́в був для гніву Свого, їхні душі не стримав від смерти, життя ж їхнє віддав морови́ці.
He made a path for his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
51 І побив Він усіх перворі́дних в Єгипті, пе́рвістків сили в наметах Ха́мових.
And smote all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham:
52 І повів Він, немов ту отару, наро́д Свій, і їх попрова́див, як стадо, в пустині.
But he led forth his own people like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53 І провадив безпечно Він їх, і вони не боялись, а море накри́ло було́ ворогів їхніх.
And he led them safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54 І Він їх привів до границі святині Своєї, до тієї гори, що прави́ця Його набула́.
And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.
55 І наро́ди Він повиганя́в перед їхнім обличчям, і кинув для них жеребка́ про спа́док, — і в їхніх наме́тах племе́на Ізраїлеві осели́в.
He drove out the nations also before them, and allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56 Та й далі вони випробо́вували та гніви́ли Всевишнього Бога, і Його постано́в не доде́ржували,
Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, and kept not his testimonies;
57 і відступали та зраджували, немов їхні батьки відверну́лись, як обма́нливий лук.
But turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58 І же́ртівниками своїми гніви́ли Його, і дрочи́ли Його своїми фіґу́рами.
For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
59 Бог почув усе це — і розгні́вався, і сильно обри́дивсь Ізраїлем,
When God heard [this], he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:
60 і покинув осе́лю в Шіло́, скинію ту, що вмістив був посеред людей,
So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;
61 і віддав до неволі Він силу Свою, а вели́чність Свою — в руку во́рога.
And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the adversary’s hand.
62 І віддав для меча Свій наро́д, і розгнівався був на спа́дщину Свою:
He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.
63 його юнакі́в огонь пожира́в, а дівча́там його не співали весі́льних пісе́нь,
Fire devoured their young men; and their maidens had no marriage-song.
64 його священики від меча полягли́, — і не плакали вдови його.
Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.
65 Та небавом збудився Господь, немов зо́ сну, як той ве́лет, що ніби вином був підко́шений,
Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.
66 і вдарив Своїх ворогів по оза́дку, — вічну га́ньбу їм дав!
And he smote his adversaries backward: he put them to a perpetual reproach.
67 Та Він погорди́в намет Йо́сипів, і племе́на Єфремового не обрав,
Moreover he refused the tent of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim;
68 а вибрав Собі плем'я Юдине, го́ру Сіон, що її полюбив!
But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.
69 І святиню Свою збудував Він, як місце високе, як землю, що навіки її вґрунтува́в.
And he built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he hath established for ever.
70 І вибрав Давида, Свого раба, і від коша́р його взяв,
He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:
71 від кі́тних ове́чок його Він привів, щоб Якова пас він, народа Свого, та Ізраїля, спа́док Свій, —
From following the ewes that give suck he brought him, to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
72 і він пас їх у щирості серця свого́, і прова́див їх мудрістю рук своїх!
So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.
