Овдій 1
1 Видіння Овді́я. Так сказав Господь Бог на Едо́м: „Почули ми вістку від Господа, і по́сланий був між наро́дів посо́л, щоб сказати: Уставайте, і станьмо на нього до бо́ю!
The vision of Obadiah, —Thus, saith My Lord, Yahweh, concerning Edom—A rumour, have we heard from Yahweh, and, a herald, throughout the nations, hath been sent, Up! and let us rise against her to war.
2 Оце Я мали́м тебе дав між наро́ди, ти дуже пого́рджений.
Lo! small, have I made thee, among the nations—Despised art thou exceedingly!
3 Гордість серця твого обманила тебе, який перебува́єш по щі́линах ске́льних, у високім сиді́нні своїм, що гово́риш у серці своє́му: Хто скине на землю мене́?
The insolence of thy heart, hath deceived thee, O thou that inhabitest the retreats of the crag, the height of his habitation, —that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?
4 Якщо б ти підні́сся, немов той орел, і якщо б ти кубло́ своє склав поміж зо́рями, — то й звідти Я скину тебе, промовляє Госпо́дь!
Though thou build high like an eagle, and though, among the stars, thou set thy nest, from thence, will I bring thee down, Declareth Yahweh.
5 Чи ж до тебе злоді́ї прихо́дили, чи нічні ті грабі́жники, — такий ти пони́щений! — чи ж вони не накра́ли б собі скільки треба? Якщо б до тебе прийшли збирачі́ винограду, чи ж вони не лишили б хоч ви́бірків?
If, thieves, had come to thee, if robbers by night—how ruined thou art! Would they not have stolen what sufficed them? If, grape-gatherers, had come to thee, Would they not have left gleanings?
6 Як Ісав перешу́каний, як криї́вки його перегля́нені!
How have the things of Esau been searched out! his treasures been sought up!
7 Аж до границі прогнали тебе, обма́нять тебе твої всі сою́зники, переможуть тебе твої при́ятелі! Ті, що хліб твій їдять, пастку розста́влять на тебе, — нема в тому розуму!
Up to the boundary, have they sent thee—All thy covenant men, they have deceived thee, prevailed against thee—the men thou wast wont to salute, —The partakers of thy bread, have put a net under thee—No understanding in him!
8 Чи ж не станеться це того дня, — промовляє Господь, — і ви́гублю Я мудреці́в із Едо́му, а розум з гори Ісавової?
Shall it not be, in that day, Demandeth Yahweh, —That I will destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of Mount Esau?
9 І настра́шене буде лица́рство твоє, о Тема́не, щоб був ви́тятий кожен з Ісава уби́вством.
So shall thy mighty men, O Teman, be dismayed, —to the intent that every man, may be cut off, out of Mount Esau, by slaughter.
10 Через насилля на Якова на брата твого сором покриє тебе, і ти ви́тятий будеш наві́ки.
For thy violence against thy brother Jacob, shall shame, cover thee, —so shalt thou be cut off, to times age-abiding.
11 Того дня, коли став ти навпро́ти, того дня, як чужі полони́ли були його ві́йсько, і коли чужинці́ в його брами ввійшли і же́реба кидали про Єрусалим, то й ти був, як один з них!
In the day when thou didst take thy stand over against him, in the day when foreigners took captive his forces, —and, aliens, entered his gates, and, over Jerusalem, cast lots, even thou, wast like one of them!
12 І тому́ не дивися на день свого брата, на день лиха його, і не тішся з Юдиних синів у день їхньої згу́би, і не розкривай своїх уст у день у́тиску.
Do not, then, look with satisfaction upon the day of thy brother, upon the day of his calamity, Neither rejoice over the sons of Judah—in the day of their ruin, —nor enlarge thy mouth—in the day of distress:
13 І не входь ти до брами наро́ду Мого́ у день лиха його́, і не пригляда́йся до зла його й ти в день нещастя його́, і не простяга́йте своєї руки́ до багатства його́ в день нещастя його́!
Do not enter into the gate of my people—in the day of their misfortune, Do not, thou also, look with satisfaction on his misery—in the day of his misfortune; neither do thou thrust [thy hands] on his substance—in the day of his misfortune;
14 І на роздорі́жжі не стій, щоб витина́ти його втікачі́в, і в день у́тиску не видавай його ре́шток!
Neither do thou stand at the parting of the way, to cut off his fugitives, —neither do thou deliver up his survivors—in the day of distress.
15 Бо близьки́й день Госпо́дній над усіма наро́дами, — як зробив ти, то так і тобі буде зро́блено: ве́рнеться на твою го́лову чин твій!
For, near, is the day of Yahweh, upon all the nations, —Just as thou hast done, shall it be done to thee, Thy dealing, shall come back upon thine own head.
16 Бо я́к ви пили́ на святій Моїй горі, так народи усі за́вжди пи́тимуть! І будуть пити вони, і бу́дуть хлепта́ти, і стануть вони, немов їх не було́.
For, as ye have drunk on my holy mountain, all the nations shall drink continually, —Yea they shall drink and swallow down, and shall be, as though they had not been.
17 А на Сіонській горі буде спасі́ння, і буде святою вона, і спа́дки свої́ вже пося́де дім Яковів.
But, in Mount Zion, shall be a delivered remnant which shall be holy, —and the house of Jacob shall possess their own possessions;
18 І дім Якова стане огнем, і дім Йо́сипа — по́лум'ям, а дім Ісава — соломою, — і будуть пала́ти вони проти них, і їх пожеру́ть, і останку не буде із дому Ісава, бо Госпо́дь це сказав.
And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, with the house of Esau for stubble, So shall they kindle upon them, and devour them, —and there shall be no survivor to the house of Esau, for, Yahweh, hath spoken.
19 І пося́дуть півде́нні Іса́вову го́ру, а мешка́нці долин — филисти́млян, і пося́дуть Єфремове поле та поле самарі́йське, а Веніями́н — Ґілеа́д.
Then shall they of the South possess Mount Esau, and they of the Lowlands, the Philistines, and they [of the Mountain] shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria, —and Benjamin [shall possess] Gilead;
20 А полоне́ні ві́йська Ізраїлевих синів заволодіють тим, що хананейське аж до Цорфа́ту, а єрусалимські вигнанці в неволі, що в Сефараді, пося́дуть міста́ полудне́ві.
And, they of the captivity of this force pertaining to the sons of Israel, [shall possess] that of the Canaanites, up to Zarephath, and, they of the captivity of Jerusalem who are in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South.
21 І спаси́телі при́йдуть на го́ру Сіо́н, щоб го́ру Іса́ва судити, — і царство Господнє настане!
And saviours shall come up in Mount Zion, to judge the mountain of Esau, —So shall the kingdom, belong unto Yahweh.
