Від Луки 14
1 І сталось, що Він у суботу ввійшов був до дому одно́го з фарисейських старши́н, щоб хліба спожити, а вони назира́ли за Ним.
And it came to pass, on His going into the house of a certain one of the chiefs of the Pharisees, on a Sabbath, to eat bread, that they were watching Him,
2 І ото перед Ним був один чоловік, слабий на водя́нку.
and behold, there was a certain dropsical man before Him;
3 Ісус же озвався й сказав до зако́нників та фарисеїв: „Чи вздоровляти в суботу годи́ться чи ні?“
and Jesus answering spoke to the lawyers and Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”
4 Вони ж мовчали. А Він, доторкну́вшись, уздоровив його та відпустив.
And they were silent, and having taken hold of [him], He healed him, and let [him] go;
5 І сказав Він до них: „Коли осел або віл котро́гось із вас упаде́ до крини́ці, то хіба він не витягне зараз його дня суботнього?“
and answering them He said, “Of which of you will a donkey or ox fall into a pit, and he will not immediately draw it up on the Sabbath day?”
6 І вони не могли відповісти на це.
And they were not able to answer Him again to these things.
7 А як Він спостері́г, як вони собі перші місця вибирали, то сказав до запро́шених притчу:
And He spoke an allegory to those called, marking how they were choosing out the first couches, saying to them,
8 „Коли́ хто покличе тебе на весі́лля, не сідай на першому місці, щоб не трапився хто поважні́ший за тебе з покли́каних,
“When you may be called by anyone to wedding feasts, you may not recline on the first couch, lest [one] more honorable than you may have been called by him,
9 і щоб той, хто покликав тебе та його, не прийшов і тобі не сказав: „Поступи́ся цьому місцем!“І тоді ти із соромом станеш займати місце останнє.
and he who called you and him having come will say to you, Give to this one [your] place, and then you may begin to occupy the last place with shame.
10 Але як ти будеш запро́шений, то приходь, і сідай на останньому місці, щоб той, хто покликав тебе, підійшов і сказав тобі: „При́ятелю, — сідай вище!“Тоді буде честь тобі перед покли́каними з тобою.
But when you may be called, having gone on, recline in the last place, that when he who called you may come, he may say to you, Friend, come up higher; then you will have glory before those dining with you;
11 Хто́ бо підно́ситься — буде впоко́рений, а хто впокоря́ється — той піднесе́ться“.
because everyone who is exalting himself will be humbled, and he who is humbling himself will be exalted.”
12 А тому́, хто Його був покликав, сказав Він: „Коли ти справляєш обід чи вече́рю, не клич дру́зів своїх, ні братів своїх, ані своїх ро́дичів, ні сусідів багатих, щоб так само й вони коли не запросили тебе, — і буде взає́мна ві́дплата тобі.
And He also said to him who called Him, “When you may make an early meal or a dinner, do not be calling your friends, nor your brothers, nor your relatives, nor rich neighbors, lest they may also call you again, and a repayment may come to you;
13 Але, як справляєш гости́ну, клич убогих, калік, кривих та сліпих,
but when you may make a feast, be calling poor, maimed, lame, blind,
14 і бу́деш блаженний, бо не мають вони чим віддати тобі, — віддасться ж тобі за воскресі́ння праведних!“
and you will be blessed, because they have nothing to repay you, for it will be repaid to you in the resurrection of the righteous.”
15 Як почув це один із отих, що сиділи з Ним при столі, то до Нього сказав: „Блаженний, хто хліб споживатиме в Божому Царстві!“
And one of those dining with Him, having heard these things, said to Him, “Blessed [is] he who will eat bread in the Kingdom of God”;
16 Він же промовив до нього: „Один чоловік споряди́в був велику вече́рю, і запросив багатьох.
and He said to him, “A certain man made a great dinner, and called many,
17 І послав він свого раба ча́су вече́рі сказати запро́шеним: „Ідіть, бо вже все нагото́вано“.
and he sent his servant at the hour of the dinner to say to those having been called, Be coming, because now all things are ready.
18 І зараз усі почали́ відмовлятися. Перший сказав йому: „Поле купив я, і маю потребу піти та оглянути його. Прошу́ тебе, — вибач мені!“
And all began with one [voice] to excuse themselves. The first said to him, I bought a field, and I have need to go forth and see it; I beg of you, have me excused.
19 А другий сказав: „Я купив собі п'ять пар волів, — і йду спро́бувати їх. Прошу́ тебе, — вибач мені!“
And another said, I bought five yoke of oxen, and I go on to prove them; I beg of you, have me excused.
20 І знов інший сказав: „Одружився ось я, і через те я не мо́жу прибути“.
And another said, I married a wife, and because of this I am not able to come.
21 І вернувся той раб і па́нові своєму про все розпо́вів. Розгнівавсь госпо́дар тоді, та й сказав до свого раба: „Піди швидко на вулиці та на завулки міські́, і приведи́ сюди вбогих, і калік, і сліпих, і кривих“.
And that servant having come, told these things to his lord, then the master of the house, having been angry, said to his servant, Go forth quickly into the broad places and lanes of the city, and the poor, and maimed, and lame, and blind, bring in here.
22 І згодом раб повідо́мив: „Пане, сталося так, як звелів ти, та мі́сця є ще“.
And the servant said, Lord, it has been done as you commanded, and still there is room.
23 І сказав пан рабові: „Піди на дороги й на за́городи, та й си́луй прийти, щоб напо́внився дім мій.
And the lord said to the servant, Go forth into the ways and hedges, and constrain to come in, that my house may be filled;
24 Кажу́ бо я вам, що жоден із запрошених му́жів тих не покушту́є моєї вечері. Бо багато покли́каних, та ви́браних мало!“
for I say to you that none of those men who have been called will taste of my dinner.”
25 Ішло ж з Ним багато людей. І, звернувшись, сказав Він до них:
And there were going on with Him great multitudes, and having turned, He said to them,
26 „Коли хто прихо́дить до Мене, і не знена́видить свого батька та матері, і дружи́ни й дітей, і братів і сесте́р, а до того й своє́ї душі́, — той не може буть учнем Моїм!
“If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and yet even his own life, he is not able to be My disciple;
27 І хто свого хреста не несе, і не йде вслід за Мною, — той не може бути учнем Моїм!
and whoever does not carry his cross, and come after Me, is not able to be My disciple.
28 Хто бо з вас, коли башту поставити хоче, перше не сяде й вида́тків не ви́рахує, — чи має потрібне на ви́конання,
For who of you, willing to build a tower, does not first, having sat down, count the expense, whether he has the things for completing?
29 щоб, коли покладе він основу, але докінчи́ти не зможе, усі, хто побачить, не стали б сміятися з нього,
Lest that he having laid a foundation, and not being able to finish, all who are beholding may begin to mock him,
30 говорячи: „Чоловік цей почав будувати, але докінчи́ти не міг“.
saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
31 Або який цар, ідучи́ на війну супроти царя іншого, перше не сяде порадитися, чи спромо́жен він із десятьма́ тисячами стріти того, хто йде з двадцятьма́ тисячами проти нього?
Or what king going on to engage with another king in war, does not, having sat down, first consult if he with ten thousand is able to meet him who is coming against him with twenty thousand?
32 Коли ж ні, то, як той ще дале́ко, шле посольство до нього та й просить про мир.
And if not so—he being yet a long way off—having sent a delegation, he asks the things for peace.
33 Так ото й кожен із вас, який не зречеться усьо́го, що має, не може бути учнем Моїм.
So, then, everyone of you who does not take leave of all that he himself has, is not able to be My disciple.
34 Сіль — добра річ. Коли ж сіль несолоною стане, чим приправити її?
The salt [is] good, but if the salt becomes tasteless, with what will it be seasoned?
35 Ні на землю, ні на гній не потрібна вона, — її геть викидають. Хто має ву́ха, щоб слухати, — нехай слу́хає!“
It is neither fit for land nor for manure—they cast it outside. He who is having ears to hear—let him hear.”
