Йов 20
1 І відповів нааматянин Цофа́р та й сказав:
Then Sophar the Minaean answered and said,
2 „Тому́ то думки́ мої відповідати мене наверта́ють, і тому́ то в мені цей мій по́спіх!
I did not suppose that you would answer thus: neither do you understand more than I.
3 Соромли́ву нага́ну собі я почув, та дух з мого розуму відповідає мені.
I will hear my shameful reproach; and the spirit of my understanding answers me.
4 Чи знаєш ти те, що від вічности, відколи́ люди́на на землі була поста́влена, —
Hast you [not] known these things of old, from the time that man was set upon the earth?
5 то спів несправедливих короткий, а радість безбожного — тільки на хвилю?
But the mirth of the ungodly is a signal downfall, and the joy of transgressors is destruction:
6 Якщо піднесе́ться вели́чність його аж до неба, а його голова аж до хмари дося́гне,
although his gifts should go up to heaven, and his sacrifice reach the clouds.
7 проте́ він загине навіки, немов його гній, хто бачив його, запитає: де він?
For when he shall seem to be now established, then he shall utterly perish: and they that knew him shall say, Where is he?
8 Немов сон улетить — і не зна́йдуть його, мов виді́ння нічне́, він споло́шений буде:
Like a dream that has fled away, he shall not be found; and he has fled like a vision of the night.
9 його бачило око, та бачити більше не бу́де, і вже не побачить його його місце...
The eye has looked upon him, but shall not [see him] again; and his place shall no longer perceive him.
10 Сини його запобіга́тимуть ла́ски в нужде́нних, а ру́ки його позверта́ють маєток його.
Let [his] inferiors destroy his children, and let his hands kindle the fire of sorrow.
11 Повні кості його молоде́чости, — та до по́роху з ним вона ляже!
His bones have been filled with [vigour of] his youth, and it shall lie down with him in the dust.
12 Якщо в у́стах його зло солодке, — його він таї́ть під своїм язиком,
Though evil be sweet in his mouth, [though] he will hide it under his tongue;
13 над ним милосе́рдиться та не пускає його, і тримає його в своїх устах, —
though he will not spare it, and will not leave it, but will keep it in the midst of his throat:
14 то цей хліб в його ну́трощах змі́ниться, — стане він жо́вчю змії́ною в нутрі його́!
yet he shall not at all be able to help himself; the gall of an asp is in his belly.
15 Він маєток чужо́го ковтав, але́ його ви́блює: Бог виганяє його із утро́би його.
[His] wealth unjustly collected shall be vomited up; a messenger [of wrath] shall drag him out of his house.
16 Отру́ту зміїну він сса́тиме, гадю́чий язик його вб'є!
And let him suck the poison of serpents, and let the serpent's tongue kill him.
17 Він річко́вих джере́л не побачить, струмків меду та молока.
Let him not see the milk of the pastures, nor the supplies of honey and butter.
18 Позверта́є він працю чужу, і її не ковтне́, як і маєток, набутий з виміни своєї, жувати не буде.
He has laboured unprofitably and in vain, [for] wealth of which he shall not taste: [it is] as a lean thing, unfit for food, which he can’t swallow.
19 Бо він переслідував, кидав убогих, він дім грабував, хоч не ставив його!
For he has broken down the houses of many mighty men: and he has plundered an habitation, though he built [it] not.
20 Бо споко́ю не знав він у нутрі своїм, і свого наймилішого не збереже.
There is no security to his possessions; he shall not be saved by his desire.
21 Немає останку з обжи́рства його, тому нетрива́ле добро його все:
There is nothing remaining of his provisions; therefore his goods shall not flourish.
22 за по́вні достатку його буде тісно йому́, рука кожного скри́вдженого при́йде на нього!
But when he shall seem to be just satisfied, he shall be straitened; and all distress shall come upon him.
23 Хай напо́внена буде утро́ба його, та пошле Він на нього жар гніву Свого, і бу́де дощи́ти на нього неду́гами його.
If by any means he would fill his belly, let [God] send upon him the fury of wrath; let him bring a torrent of pains upon him.
24 Він бу́де втікати від зброї залізної, — та прони́же його мідний лук.
And he shall by no means escape from the power of the sword; let the brazen bow wound him.
25 Він стане меча́ витягати, і вийде він із тіла, та держа́к його вийде із жо́вчі його, і пере́страх на нього впаде́!
And let the arrow pierce through his body; and let the stars be against his dwelling-place: let terrors come upon him.
26 При ска́рбах його всі нещастя захо́вані, його буде же́рти огонь не роздму́хуваний, позостале в наметі його буде знищене.
And let all darkness wait for him: a fire that burns not out shall consume him; and let a stranger plague his house.
27 Небо відкриє його беззаконня, а земля проти нього повстане, —
And let the heaven reveal his iniquities, and the earth rise up against him.
28 урожай його дому втече, розпливеться в день гніву Його.
Let destruction bring his house to an end; let a day of wrath come upon him.
29 Оце доля від Бога люди́ні безбожній, і спа́дщина, обі́цяна Богом для неї!“
This is the portion of an ungodly man from the Lord, and the possession of his goods [appointed him] by the all-seeing [God].
