Йов 11
1 І заговорив наама́тянин Цофа́р та й сказав:
Then answered Zophar the Naamathite, and said:
2 „Чи має зоста́тись без відповіді бе́зліч слів? І хіба язика́та люди́на невинною буде?
Should not the multitude of words be answered? And should a man full of talk be accounted right?
3 Чи мужі замо́вчать твої тереве́ні, й не бу́де кому засоро́мити тебе?
Thy boastings have made men hold their peace, and thou hast mocked, with none to make thee ashamed;
4 Ось гово́риш ти: „Чисте моє міркува́ння, і я чистий в оча́х Твоїх, Боже!“
And thou hast said: 'My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in Thine eyes.'
5 О, коли б говорити став Бог, і відкрив Свої уста до те́бе,
But oh that God would speak, and open His lips against thee;
6 і представив тобі таємни́ці премудрости, бо вони — як ті чу́да розду́мування! І знай, — вимагає Бог менше від тебе, ніж провини твої того варті!
And that He would tell thee the secrets of wisdom, that sound wisdom is manifold! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth.
7 Чи ти Божу глибі́нь досліди́ш, чи знаєш ти аж до кінця Всемогу́тнього?
Canst thou find out the deep things of God? Canst thou attain unto the purpose of the Almighty?
It is high as heaven; what canst thou do? Deeper than the nether-world; what canst thou know? (Sheol h7585)
9 її міра — довша за землю, і ширша за море вона!
The measure thereof is longer than the earth, and broader than the sea.
10 Якщо Він пере́йде й замкне́ щось, і згрома́дить, — то хто заборо́нить Йому?
If He pass by, and shut up, or gather in, then who can hinder Him?
11 Бо Він знає нікче́мності лю́дські та бачить насилля, — і Він не догля́не?
For He knoweth base men; and when He seeth iniquity, will He not then consider it?
12 Тож люди́на порожня мудрішає, хоч народжується, як те дике осля́!
But an empty man will get understanding, when a wild ass's colt is born a man.
13 Якщо ти зміцни́ш своє серце, і свої ру́ки до Нього простя́гнеш, —
If thou set thy heart aright, and stretch out thy hands toward Him —
14 якщо є беззако́ння в руці твоїй, то прожени́ ти його, і кривда в наме́тах твоїх нехай не пробува́є, —
If iniquity be in thy hand, put it far away, and let not unrighteousness dwell in thy tents —
15 тож тоді ти піді́ймеш обличчя невинне своє, і бу́деш міцни́й, і не будеш боятись!
Surely then shalt thou lift up thy face without spot; yea, thou shalt be stedfast, and shalt not fear;
16 Бо забудеш стражда́ння, — про них будеш зга́дувати, як про воду, яка пропливла́.
For thou shalt forget thy misery; thou shalt remember it as waters that are passed away;
17 Від пі́вдня повстане життя, а те́мрява буде, як ра́нок.
And thy life shall be clearer than the noonday; though there be darkness, it shall be as the morning.
18 І будеш ти певний, бо маєш наді́ю, і ви́копаєш собі яму та й будеш безпе́чно лежати, —
And thou shalt be secure, because there is hope; yea, thou shalt look about thee, and shalt take thy rest in safety.
19 і будеш лежати, й ніхто не споло́шить, і багато-хто будуть підле́щуватися до обличчя твого́.
Also thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid; yea, many shall make suit unto thee.
20 А очі безбожних мину́ться, і згине приту́лок у них, а їхня наді́я — то сто́гін душі!“
But the eyes of the wicked shall fail, and they shall have no way to flee, and their hope shall be the drooping of the soul.
