Єремія 37
1 І зацарював цар Седекія, син Йосійїн, замість Конії, сина Єгоякимового, якого зробив царем Навуходоно́сор, цар вавилонський, в Юдиному кра́ї.
And King Zedekiah son of Josiah reigns instead of Coniah son of Jehoiakim whom Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had caused to reign in the land of Judah,
2 Та не послухався ані він, ані його раби, ані наро́д кра́ю слів Господа, які Він говорив через пророка Єремію.
and he has not listened—he, and his servants, and the people of the land—to the words of YHWH that He spoke by the hand of Jeremiah the prophet.
3 І послав цар Седекія Єгухала, сина Шелеміїного, і священика Цефанію, сина Маасеїного, до пророка Єремії, говорячи: „Помолися за нас до Господа, Бога нашого!“
And Zedekiah the king sends Jehucal son of Shelemiah, and Zephaniah son of Maaseiah the priest, to Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “Pray, we implore you, for us to our God YHWH.”
4 А Єремія тоді ще вільно ходив серед наро́ду, бо не дали́ його ще до в'язни́ці.
And Jeremiah is coming in and going out in the midst of the people (and they have not put him in the prison-house),
5 А фараонове ві́йсько вийшло з Єгипту. І почули вістку про них халдеї, що облягали Єрусалим, і відійшли від Єрусалиму.
and the force of Pharaoh has come out of Egypt, and the Chaldeans who are laying siege against Jerusalem hear their report, and go up from off Jerusalem.
6 І було слово Господнє до пророка Єремії, говорячи:
And there is a word of YHWH to Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
7 „Так промовив Господь, Бог Ізраїлів: Так скажете до Юдиного царя, що послав вас до мене поспитати мене: Ось фараонове ві́йсько, що вийшло вам на поміч, ве́рнеться до свого кра́ю, до Єгипту.
“Thus said YHWH, God of Israel: Thus you say to the king of Judah who is sending you to Me, to seek Me: Behold, the force of Pharaoh that is coming out to you for help has turned back to its land, to Egypt,
8 А халдеї зно́ву ве́рнуться, і будуть воювати з цим містом, і здобу́дуть його, та й спалять його огнем.
and the Chaldeans have turned back and fought against this city, and captured it, and burned it with fire.
9 Так говорить Господь: Не обманюйте своїх душ, говорячи: „Халдеї конче пі́дуть від нас“, бо не пі́дуть вони.
Thus said YHWH: Do not lift up your souls, saying, The Chaldeans surely go from off us, for they do not go;
10 Бо якщо б ви побили все халдейське ві́йсько, що з вами воює, а з них залиши́лися б тільки ра́нені, то встане кожен із намету свого, і спалять це місто огнем“...
for though you had struck all the force of the Chaldeans who are fighting with you, and there were left of them wounded men—they rise, each in his tent, and have burned this city with fire.”
11 І сталося, коли халдейське ві́йсько відступи́ло від Єрусалиму перед фараоновим ві́йськом,
And it has come to pass, in the going up of the force of the Chaldeans from off Jerusalem, because of the force of Pharaoh,
12 то вийшов Єремія з Єрусалиму, щоб піти до Веніяминового кра́ю, і щоб сховатися там серед наро́ду.
that Jeremiah goes out from Jerusalem to go [to] the land of Benjamin, to receive a portion there in the midst of the people.
13 Та коли він був біля Веніяминової брами, то був там начальник сторо́жі, а ім'я́ йому́ Їрійя, син Шелемеї, сина Хананіїного. І схопи́в він пророка Єремію, говорячи: „Ти перехо́диш до халлеїв!“
And it comes to pass, he is at the Gate of Benjamin, and there [is] a master of the ward, and his name is Irijah son of Shelemiah, son of Hananiah; and he catches Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “You are defecting to the Chaldeans!”
14 А Єремія відказав: „Неправда, — я не перехо́джу до халдеїв!“Та не послухав той його; і схопи́в Їрійя Єремію, і попрова́див його до зверхників.
And Jeremiah says, “Falsehood! I am not defecting to the Chaldeans”; and he has not listened to him, and Irijah lays hold on Jeremiah, and brings him to the heads,
15 I розгнівалися зверхники на Єремію, і побили його, та й віддали́ його до в'язниці в домі писаря Єгонатана, бо його зробили за в'язни́чний дім.
and the heads are angry against Jeremiah, and have struck him, and put him in the prison-house—the house of Jonathan the scribe, for they had made it for a prison-house.
16 I зійшов Єремія до темни́чної ями та до підва́лу, і сидів там Єремія багато днів.
When Jeremiah has entered into the house of the dungeon, and to the cells, then Jeremiah dwells there many days,
17 І послав цар Седекія, і взяв його. І спитав його цар у своїм домі таємно й сказав: „Чи є слово від Господа?“І Єремія відказав: „Є“. І далі сказав: „Ти будеш ві́дданий в руку вавилонського царя́“.
and King Zedekiah sends, and takes him, and the king asks him in his house in secret, and says, “Is there a word from YHWH?” And Jeremiah says, “There is,” and he says, “You are given into the hand of the king of Babylon.”
18 І сказав Єремія до царя Седекії: „Що́ я згрішив тобі й рабам твоїм та цьому наро́дові, що ви віддали мене до в'язни́ці?
And Jeremiah says to King Zedekiah, “What have I sinned against you, and against your servants, and against this people, that you have put me into a prison-house?
19 І де́ ваші пророки, що вам пророкували, говорячи: „Цар вавилонський не при́йде на вас та на Край цей?“
And where [are] your prophets who prophesied to you, saying, The king of Babylon does not come in against you, and against this land?
20 А тепер послухай, пане мій ца́рю: хай упаде́ моє блага́ння перед обличчя твоє, і не вертай мене до дому писаря Єгонатана, щоб не помер я там!“
And now, please listen, O my lord the king; please let my supplication fall before you, and do not cause me to return [to] the house of Jonathan the scribe, that I do not die there.”
21 І наказав цар Седекія, й Єремію вмістили в подві́р'ї в'язни́ці, і давали йому бухане́ць хліба на день з вулиці пе́карів, аж поки не скінчи́вся ввесь хліб у місті. І сидів Єремія в подвір'ї в'язни́ці.
And King Zedekiah commands, and they commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, also to give a cake of bread to him daily from the bakers’ street, until the consumption of all the bread of the city, and Jeremiah dwells in the court of the prison.
