До галатів 2
1 Пото́му, по чотирнадцяти́ роках, я зно́ву ходив в Єрусалим із Варнавою, взявши й Тита з собою.
Then after a period of fourteen years I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, taking Titus also with me.
2 А пішов я за об'явленням. І подав їм Єва́нгелію, що її проповідую між поганами, особливо знатнішим, чи не дарма́ змагаюся я чи змагався.
I went up by revelation, and I laid before them the Good News which I proclaim amongst the Gentiles, but privately before those who were respected, for fear that I might be running, or had run, in vain.
3 Але й Тит, що зо мною, бувши греком, не був до обрі́зання змушений.
But not even Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised.
4 А щодо прибулих фальшивих братів, що прийшли підгляда́ти нашу вільність, яку маємо в Христі Ісусі, щоб нас понево́лити,
This was because of the false brothers secretly brought in, who stole in to spy out our liberty which we have in Messiah Yeshua, that they might bring us into bondage,
5 то ми їх не послухали ані на хвилю, і не піддали́ся були, щоб тривала в вас правда Єва́нгелії.
to whom we gave no place in the way of subjection, not for an hour, that the truth of the Good News might continue with you.
6 Що ж до тих, що за що́сь уважають себе, та якими колись вони були, то ні в чо́му різниці для мене нема, — не дивиться Бог на осо́бу люди́ни! Бо ті, що за щось уважають себе, нічого мені не додали́,
But from those who were reputed to be important—whatever they were, it makes no difference to me; God doesn’t show partiality to man—they, I say, who were respected imparted nothing to me,
7 але навпаки́, — побачивши, що мені припору́чена Єва́нгелія для необрізаних, як Петрові для обрізаних, -
but to the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the Good News for the uncircumcised, even as Peter with the Good News for the circumcised—
8 бо Той, хто помагав Петрові в апо́стольстві між обрізаними, помагав і мені між поганами, -
for he who worked through Peter in the apostleship with the circumcised also worked through me with the Gentiles—
9 і, пізнавши ту благода́ть, що да́на мені, Яків, і Кифа, і Іван, що стовпа́ми вважаються, подали мені та Варна́ві прави́ці спільно́ти, щоб ми для поган працювали, вони ж — для обрізаних,
and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, Jacob and Kefa and Yochanan, those who were reputed to be pillars, gave to Barnabas and me the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.
10 тільки щоб ми пам'ята́ли про вбогих, що я й пильнував був чинити таке.
They only asked us to remember the poor—which very thing I was also zealous to do.
11 Коли ж Ки́фа прийшов був до Антіохі́ї, то відкрито я виступив супроти нього, — заслуго́вував бо він на о́суд.
But when Peter came to Antioch, I resisted him to his face, because he stood condemned.
12 Бо він перед тим, як прийшли були дехто від Якова, споживав із поганами. А коли прибули́, став ховатися та відлучатися, боячи́ся обрі́заних.
For before some people came from Jacob, he ate with the Gentiles. But when they came, he drew back and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision.
13 А з ним лицемі́рили й інші юдеї, так що навіть Варна́ва пристав був до їхнього лицемірства.
And the rest of the Jewish believers joined him in his hypocrisy, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy.
14 А коли я побачив, що не йдуть вони рівно за єва́нгельською правдою, то перед усіма сказав Кифі: „Коли ти, бувши юдеєм, живеш по-поганському, а не по-юдейському, то на́що поган ти примушуєш жити по-юдейському“?
But when I saw that they didn’t walk uprightly according to the truth of the Good News, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live as the Gentiles do, and not as the Jews do, why do you compel the Gentiles to live as the Jews do?
15 Ми юдеї природою, а не грішники з поган...
“We, being Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners,
16 А коли ми дізнались, що люди́на не може бути виправдана ділами Зако́ну, але тільки вірою в Христа Ісуса, то ми ввірували в Христа Ісуса, щоб нам виправдатися вірою в Христа, а не ділами Зако́ну. Бо жодна люди́на ділами Зако́ну не буде випра́вдана!
yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Yeshua the Messiah, even we believed in Messiah Yeshua, that we might be justified by faith in Messiah and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law.
17 Коли ж, шукаючи виправда́ння в Христі, ми й самі показалися грішниками, то хіба Христос слуга гріху? Зовсім ні!
But if while we sought to be justified in Messiah, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Messiah a servant of sin? Certainly not!
18 Бо коли я будую знов те, що був зруйнував, то самого себе роблю́ злочинцем.
For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a law-breaker.
19 Бо Зако́ном я вмер для Зако́ну, щоб жити для Бога. Я розп'я́тий з Христом.
For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God.
20 І живу вже не я, а Христос проживає в мені. А що я живу в тілі тепер, — живу вірою в Божого Сина, що мене полюбив, і видав за мене Само́го Себе.
I have been crucified with Messiah, and it is no longer I who live, but Messiah lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself up for me.
21 Божої благода́ті я не відкидаю. Бо коли набувається праведність Зако́ном, то Христос нада́рмо умер!
I don’t reject the grace of God. For if righteousness is through the law, then Messiah died for nothing!”
