Дії 8
1 А Савл похваляв його вби́вство. І утиск великий постав того дня проти єрусалимської Церкви, і всі, крім апо́столів, розпоро́шилися по краях юдейських та самарійських.
And Saul approved of his execution. On that day a great persecution arose against the church in Jerusalem, and all the believers except the apostles were scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria.
2 І поховали Степа́на му́жі побожні, і плакали ревно за ним.
Devout men carried Stephen away for burial and made great lamentation over him.
3 А Савл нищив Церкву, — вдирався в доми́, витягав чоловіків і жінок та давав до в'язниці.
But Saul was ravaging the church. Entering house after house, he dragged off both men and women and put them in prison.
4 Ходили тоді розпоро́шенці, та Боже Слово благовісти́ли.
Now those who had been scattered went around preaching the message of good news.
5 Ось Пилип прийшов до самарійського міста, і проповідував їм про Христа.
Philip went down to a city of Samaria and began proclaiming to them the Christ.
6 А люди вважали на те, що Пилип говорив, і згідно слухали й бачили чу́да, які він чинив.
With one accord the crowds paid close attention to what Philip said as they listened to him and saw the signs he was performing.
7 Із багатьох бо, що мали їх, ду́хи нечисті вихо́дили з криком великим, і багато розсла́блених та кривих уздорови́лися.
For unclean spirits came out of many who had them, crying out with a loud voice, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed.
8 І радість велика в тім місті була́!
And there was great joy in that city.
9 Був один чоловік, на ім'я́ йому́ Си́мон, що до того в цім місті займавсь ворожби́тством та дурив самарійський наро́д, видаючи себе за якогось великого.
Now a man named Simon had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, declaring himself to be someone great.
10 Його слухали всі, — від найменшого аж до найбільшого, кажучи: „Він — сила Божа, що зветься велика!“
From the least to the greatest, they paid close attention to him, saying, “This man is the great power of God.”
11 Його ж слухалися, бо він їх довший час дивував ворожби́тством.
They all paid close attention to him because he had amazed them with his magical arts for a long time.
12 Та коли йняли віри Пилипові, що благовістив про Боже Царство й Ім'я́ Ісуса Христа, чоловіки й жінки охристи́лися.
But when they believed Philip as he preached good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Увірував навіть сам Си́мон, і, охристившись, тримався Пилипа; а бачивши чуда й знаме́на великі, він дуже дивувався.
Even Simon himself believed. After he was baptized, he kept close company with Philip and was amazed as he saw miracles and signs taking place.
14 Як зачули ж апо́столи, які в Єрусалимі були, що Боже Слово прийняла́ Самарі́я, то послали до них Петра та Івана.
When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent them Peter and John.
15 А вони, як прийшли, помолились за них, щоб Духа Святого вони прийняли́,
These two went down and prayed for the Samaritan believers to receive the Holy Spirit,
16 бо ще ні на о́дного з них Він не схо́див, а були вони тільки охрищені в Ім'я́ Господа Ісуса.
for the Spirit had not yet fallen upon any of them; they had only been baptized in the name of Christ Jesus.
17 Тоді на них руки поклали, і прийняли́ вони Духа Святого!
Then Peter and John laid their hands on the Samaritan believers, and they received the Holy Spirit.
18 Як побачив же Си́мон, що через наклада́ння апо́стольських рук Святий Дух подається, то приніс він їм гроші,
When Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money,
19 і сказав: „Дайте й мені таку вла́ду, щоб той, на кого́ покладу́ свої руки, одержав би Духа Святого!“
saying, “Give this power to me as well, so that whomever I lay my hands on may receive the Holy Spirit.”
20 Та промовив до нього Петро: „Нехай згине з тобою те срібло твоє, бо ти ду́мав набути дар Божий за гроші!
But Peter said to him, “May yoʋr silver be destroyed with yoʋ, because yoʋ thought yoʋ could acquire the gift of God with money!
21 У цім ділі нема тобі частки ні уділу, бо серце твоє перед Богом не слушне.
Yoʋ have no share or portion in this matter, for yoʋr heart is not right before God.
22 Тож покайся за це лихе ді́ло своє, і проси Господа, — може про́щений буде тобі за́мір серця твого!
Therefore repent of this wickedness of yoʋrs, and plead with God in the hope that the intention of yoʋr heart might be forgiven yoʋ.
23 Бо я бачу, що ти пробува́єш у жо́вчі гіркі́й та в пу́тах неправди“.
For I see that yoʋ are bitterly envious and in bondage to unrighteousness.”
24 А Си́мон озвався й сказав: „Помоліться за мене до Господа, щоб мене не спіткало нічого з того, про що ви говорили“.
In response Simon said, “Pray to the Lord for me so that nothing you have said will happen to me.”
25 А вони ж, засвідчивши, і Слово Господнє звістивши, повернулись до Єрусалиму, і звіщали Єва́нгелію в багатьох самарійських осе́лях.
After Peter and John had testified and spoken the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the good news in many villages of the Samaritans as they went.
26 А ангол Господній промовив Пилипові, кажучи: „Устань та на пі́вдень іди, на дорогу, що від Єрусалиму до Га́зи спускається, — порожня вона“.
Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Rise and go toward the south, to the road that goes from Jerusalem down to Gaza.” (This is a desert road.)
27 І, вставши, пішов він. І ось муж етіо́пський, скопе́ць, вельможа Канда́ки, цариці етіопської, що був над усіма́ її ска́рбами, що до Єрусалиму прибув поклонитись,
So he rose and went. And behold, there was an Ethiopian eunuch, a court official in charge of the entire treasury of Candace, the queen of the Ethiopians. This man had come to Jerusalem to worship
28 вертався, і, сидючи́ на пово́зі своїм, читав пророка Ісаю.
and was sitting in his chariot on his way back home, reading the prophet Isaiah.
29 А Дух до Пилипа промовив: „Підійди, та й пристань до цього пово́зу“.
The Spirit said to Philip, “Go over and join that chariot.”
30 Пилип же підбіг і почув, що той читає пророка Ісаю, та й спитав: „Чи розумієш, що́ ти читаєш?“
So Philip ran up to it and heard the man reading the prophet Isaiah. He said, “Do yoʋ understand what yoʋ are reading?”
31 А той відказав: „Як же мо́жу, як ніхто не напу́тить мене?“І впросив він Пилипа піднятись та сісти з ним.
The man said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
32 А слово Писа́ння, що його він читав, було це: „Як вівцю́ на заріз Його ве́дено, і як ягня супроти стрижія́ безголосе, так Він не відкрив Своїх уст!
This is the passage of Scripture that he was reading: “Like a sheep he was led to slaughter, and like a lamb is silent before its shearer, so he did not open his mouth.
33 У прини́женні суд Йому віднятий був, а про рід Його хто розповість? Бо життя Його із землі забирається“.
In his humiliation he was denied justice. Who will tell of his posterity? For his life was taken from the earth.”
34 Відізвався ж скопе́ць до Пилипа й сказав: „Благаю тебе, — це про ко́го говорить пророк? Чи про себе, чи про іншого кого?“
The eunuch said to Philip, “I ask yoʋ, who does the prophet say this about? About himself, or about someone else?”
35 А Пилип відкрив у́ста свої, і, зачавши від цього Писа́ння, благовістив про Ісуса йому.
Then Philip opened his mouth to speak, and beginning from this Scripture, he told him the good news about Jesus.
36 І, як шляхо́м вони їхали, прибули́ до якоїсь води. І озвався скопець: „Ось вода. Що мені заважає христитись?“
As they were going along the road, they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “Behold, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?”
37 А Пилип відказав: „Якщо віруєш із повного серця свого, то можна“. А той відповів і сказав: „Я вірую, що Ісус Христос — то Син Божий!“
38 І звелів, щоб по́віз спинився. І оби́два — Пилип та скопе́ць — увійшли до води, і охристив він його.
So he ordered the chariot to stop, and the two of them went down into the water, both Philip and the eunuch, and Philip baptized him.
39 А коли вони вийшли з води, Дух Господній Пилипа забрав, і скопе́ць уже більше не бачив його. І він їхав, радіючи, шляхом своїм.
When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, and the eunuch saw him no more, but went on his way rejoicing.
40 А Пилип опинився в Азо́ті, і, переходячи, звіщав Єва́нгелію всім містам, аж поки прийшов у Кесарі́ю.
Philip, however, found himself at Azotus, and as he passed through that region, he preached the gospel in all the towns until he came to Caesarea.
