1 А між людом були́ й неправдиві пророки, як і бу́дуть між вас учителі неправдиві, що впрова́дять згубні єресі, відречу́ться від Влади́ки, що викупив їх, і стягнуть на себе самі скору погибіль.
But there also came false prophets among the people, as there will also be false teachers among you, who will stealthily bring in destructive sects, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing quick destruction to themselves,
2 І багато-хто пі́дуть за пожадливістю їхньою, а через них доро́га правдива знева́житься.
and many will follow out their destructive ways, because of whom the way of the truth will be spoken of [as] evil,
3 І в заже́рливості вони бу́дуть ловити вас словами обле́сними. Суд на них відда́вна не ба́риться, а їхня загибіль не дрімає!
and in covetousness, with forged words, they will make merchandise of you, whose judgment of old is not idle, and their destruction does not slumber.
4 Бо як Бог анголі́в, що згрішили, не помилував був, а в кайда́нах те́мряви вкинув до а́ду, і передав зберігати на суд; (Tartaroō g5020)
For if God did not spare messengers having sinned, but having cast [them] down to Tartarus with chains of deepest gloom, delivered [them], having been reserved to judgment, (Tartaroō g5020)
5 і Він не помилував першого світу, а зберіг само во́сьмого Но́я, проповідника праведности, і навів пото́п на світ безбожних;
and did not spare the old world, but kept the eighth person, Noah, a preacher of righteousness, having brought a flood on the world of the impious,
6 і міста́ Содо́м і Гомо́рру спопели́в, засудивши на зни́щення, і дав при́клада для майбутніх безбожників,
and having turned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah to ashes, condemned with an overthrow, having set [them as] an example to those about to be impious,
7 а врятував праведного Ло́та, змученого поводженням розпусних людей, —
and He rescued righteous Lot, worn down by the conduct of the lawless in licentiousness,
8 бо цей праведник, живши між ними, день-у-день мучив свою праведну душу, ба́чачи й чуючи вчинки безбожні, —
for the righteous [man] dwelling among them was tormented in [his] righteous soul, day by day, in seeing and hearing unlawful works—
9 то вміє Господь рятувати побожних від спокуси, а неправедних берегти на день суду для кари,
the LORD has known to rescue [the] pious out of temptation, and to keep [the] unrighteous being punished to [the] day of judgment,
10 а надто тих, хто ходить за нечистими пожадли́востями тіла та погорджує вла́дою; зухвалі свавільці, що не бояться зневажати слави,
and chiefly those following after the flesh in lust [and] defilement, and despising lordship. Bold, self-pleased, they are not afraid to speak evil of glorious ones,
11 хоч анголи́, бувши міццю та силою більші за них, не несуть до Господа знева́жливого суду на них.
whereas messengers, being greater in strength and power, do not bear a slanderous judgment against them before the LORD;
12 Вони, немов звірина́ нерозумна, зроджена природою на зло́влення та загибіль, зневажають те, чого не розуміють, і в тлінні своїм будуть знищені,
and these, as irrational natural beasts, made to be caught and destroyed—in what things they are ignorant of, slandering—in their destruction will be destroyed;
13 і при́ймуть запла́ту за лихі вчинки. Вони повсякденну розпусту вважають за ро́зкіш; самі бруд та неслава, вони насолоджуються своїми оманами, бенкету́ючи з вами.
doing unjustly, [they will receive] a reward of unrighteousness, esteeming pleasure in the day, [and] luxury—[they are] spots and blemishes, reveling in their deceits, feasting with you,
14 Їхні очі напо́внені пере́любом та гріхом безупинним; вони зва́блюють душі незмі́цнені; вони, діти прокляття, мають серце, привче́не до заже́рливости.
having eyes full of adultery, and unable to cease from sin, enticing unstable souls, having a heart exercised in covetousnesses, children of a curse,
15 Вони покинули про́сту дорогу та й заблудили, і пішли слідо́м за Валаа́мом Бео́ровим, що полюбив нагороду несправедливости,
having forsaken a right way, they went astray, having followed in the way of Balaam the [son] of Bosor, who loved a reward of unrighteousness,
16 але був докорений у своїм беззако́нні: німа під'яре́мна ослиця проговорила лю́дським голосом, та й бе́зум пророка спинила.
and had a rebuke of his own iniquity—a mute donkey, having spoken in man’s voice, forbid the madness of the prophet.
17 Вони — джере́ла безводні, хмари, бурею гнані; для них пригото́ваний мо́рок те́мряви!
These are wells without water, and clouds driven by a storm, to whom the deepest gloom of darkness has been kept throughout the age; (questioned)
18 Бо, висло́влюючи марне́ базі́кання, вони зваблюють пожадливістю ті́ла й розпустою тих, хто ледве втік від тих, хто живе в розпусті.
for speaking swollen words of vanity, they entice in desires of the flesh—licentiousness, those who had truly escaped from those conducting themselves in error,
19 Вони волю обіцюють їм, самі бувши рабами тління. Бо хто ким переможений, той тому й раб.
promising liberty to them, themselves being servants of corruption, for by whom anyone has been overcome, he has been brought to servitude to this one also;
20 Бо коли хто втече від нечистости світу через пізна́ння Господа й Спасителя Ісуса Христа, а пото́му знов заплутуються ними та перемагаються, — то останнє буває для них гірше першого.
for if having escaped from the defilements of the world, in the acknowledging of the LORD and Savior Jesus Christ, and again being entangled by these things, they have been overcome, the last things have become worse to them than the first,
21 Бо краще було б не пізнати їм дороги праведности, аніж, пізнавши, вернутись назад від пере́даної їм святої заповіді!
for it were better to them not to have acknowledged the way of righteousness, than having acknowledged [it], to turn back from the holy command delivered to them,
22 Бо їм трапилося за правдивою при́казкою: „Вертається пес до своєї блюво́тини“, та: „Помита свиня йде валятися в калюжу“.
and that of the true proverb has happened to them: “A dog turned back on his own vomit,” and, “A sow having bathed herself—to rolling in mire.”
