Псалми 49
1 Керівнику хору. Синів Кореєвих псалом. Послухайте це, усі народи, зважте, усі мешканці плинного світу,
To him that excelleth. A Psalme committed to the sonnes of Korah. Heare this, all ye people: giue eare, all ye that dwell in the world,
2 сини Адамові, сини людські, – як багаті, так і бідні.
As well lowe as hie, both rich and poore.
3 Вуста мої промовлять мудрість, і роздуми мого серця – [глибоке] розуміння.
My mouth shall speake of wisdome, and the meditation of mine heart is of knowledge.
4 Схилю своє вухо до притчі, відкрию під [звуки] арфи мою загадку:
I will incline mine eare to a parable, and vtter my graue matter vpon the harpe.
5 Чого мені боятися в дні лиха, коли беззаконня лукавих оточить мене –
Wherefore should I feare in the euil dayes, when iniquitie shall compasse me about, as at mine heeles?
6 тих, хто на власні статки покладає надію й багатством своїм вихваляється?
They trust in their goods, and boast them selues in the multitude of their riches.
7 Але ж брата ніхто не зможе викупити, ніхто не дасть Богові [належного] викупу за нього.
Yet a man can by no meanes redeeme his brother: he can not giue his raunsome to God,
8 Бо занадто дорогим [був би] викуп за його душу, тому повік не досягти того,
(So precious is the redemption of their soules, and the continuance for euer)
9 щоб хтось жив вічно й не побачив безодні смерті.
That he may liue still for euer, and not see the graue.
10 Адже кожен бачить, що мудрі помирають, і поряд із ними дурень і невіглас гине, залишаючи іншим свої статки.
For he seeth that wise men die, and also that the ignorant and foolish perish, and leaue their riches for others.
11 Могили стали для них вічним домом, помешканнями їхніми з роду в рід. А вони називали своїми іменами землі!
Yet they thinke, their houses, and their habitations shall continue for euer, euen from generation to generation, and call their lands by their names.
12 Але ж людина не [завжди] перебуватиме в пошані, подібна вона до тварин, що гинуть.
But man shall not continue in honour: he is like the beastes that die.
13 Так, [життєві] дороги їхні – невігластво! Однак їхні наступники схвалюють те, що в них на вустах.
This their way vttereth their foolishnes: yet their posteritie delite in their talke. (Selah)
14 Немов вівці, вони приготовані для царства смерті; смерть пастиме їх, а на ранок праведники пануватимуть над ними. Їхня міць виснажиться, безодня смерті – омріяне житло для них. (Sheol h7585)
Like sheepe they lie in graue: death deuoureth them, and the righteous shall haue domination ouer them in the morning: for their beautie shall consume, when they shall goe from their house to graue. (Sheol h7585)
15 Але Бог викупить душу мою з-під [влади] царства мертвих, коли прийме мене [до Себе]. (Села) (Sheol h7585)
But God shall deliuer my soule from the power of the graue: for he will receiue me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
16 Не переймайся, коли хтось багатіє, коли посилюється слава дому його.
Be not thou afrayd when one is made rich, and when the glory of his house is increased.
17 Адже в час смерті нічого не візьме він із собою, слава його не зійде вслід за ним [до царства мертвих].
For he shall take nothing away when he dieth, neither shall his pompe descende after him.
18 Навіть якщо за життя він вважав себе благословенним, – адже хвалять тебе люди, коли ти добре собі робиш, –
For while he liued, he reioyced himselfe: and men will prayse thee, when thou makest much of thy selfe.
19 однак піде він до роду своїх предків, так що повік світла не побачить.
He shall enter into the generation of his fathers, and they shall not liue for euer.
20 Людина в пошані, але нерозумна, подібна до тварин, що гинуть.
Man is in honour, and vnderstandeth not: he is like to beasts that perish.
