< Romafoɔ 4 >
1 Ɛdeɛn na yɛbɛka afa yɛn tete agya Abraham ho? Osuahunu bɛn na ɔnyaeɛ?
What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 Sɛ wɔnam nneɛma a ɔyɛeɛ so buu no bem a, anka ɔwɔ biribi a ɔde bɛhoahoa ne ho. Nanso, ɔrentumi nhoahoa ne ho Onyankopɔn anim.
For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before YHWH.
3 Atwerɛsɛm no kyerɛ yɛn sɛ, “Abraham gyee Onyankopɔn diiɛ; na ɛno so na ɛnam maa Onyankopɔn gyee no sɛ ɔteneneeni no.”
For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed YHWH, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Onipa a ɔyɛ adwuma no fata nʼakatua; ɛnsɛ sɛ wɔbu nʼakatua no sɛ akyɛdeɛ, na mmom, ɛyɛ biribi a wayɛ ho adwuma anya.
Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of favour, but of debt.
5 Ɛnyɛ nnwuma bi a onipa yɛ na ɛbɛma Onyankopɔn abu no bem. Onyankopɔn gye nnebɔneyɛfoɔ to mu ɛfiri sɛ wɔwɔ gyidie wɔ ne mu.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the unrighteous, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Dawid ka asɛm korɔ no ara sɛ, nhyira a ɛfiri Onyankopɔn nkyɛn ba onipa a Onyankopɔn agye no ato mu so. Saa nhyira yi mfiri nnipa nnwuma mu. Ɛno enti Dawid kaa sɛ:
Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom YHWH imputeth righteousness without works,
7 “Nhyira ne wɔn a wɔde wɔn amumuyɛ akyɛ wɔn, na wɔakata wɔn bɔne so.
Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Nhyira nka onipa a AWURADE mmu ne bɔne nngu ne so da.”
Blessed is the man to whom YHWH will not impute sin.
9 Saa anigyeɛ a Dawid ka ho asɛm no wɔ hɔ ma twetiatwafoɔ nko anaa? Dabi. Ɛwɔ hɔ ma wɔn nso a wɔntwaa twetia no; ɛfiri sɛ, yɛakenkan afiri Atwerɛsɛm no mu sɛ, “Abraham gyee Onyankopɔn diiɛ, na ɛsiane ne gyidie enti, Onyankopɔn gyee no sɛ ɔteneneeni.”
Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
10 Ɛberɛ bɛn na saa asɛm yi siiɛ? Ɛsiiɛ ansa na wɔretwa Abraham twetia anaa Abraham twetiatwa no akyi na ɛsiiɛ? Ɛsiiɛ ansa, na ɛnyɛ twetiatwa no akyi na ɛsiiɛ.
How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11 Akyire no na wɔtwaa no twetia, na ne twetiatwa no yɛ nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ a ɛkyerɛ sɛ, Onyankopɔn gyee no sɛ ɔteneneeni ansa na wɔretwa no twetia. Enti Abraham yɛ Honhom mu agya ma wɔn a wɔgye Onyankopɔn di nyinaa na wɔagye wɔn sɛ ateneneefoɔ a nso wɔntwaa wɔn twetia.
And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
12 Saa ara nso na Abraham yɛ agya ma obiara a wɔatwa no twetia na ɔwɔ gyidie sɛdeɛ na Abraham wɔ gyidie ansa na wɔretwa no twetia no.
And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
13 Ɛnyɛ mmara no so na wɔnam hyɛɛ Abraham ne nʼasefoɔ bɔ sɛ wɔbɛyɛ ewiase adedifoɔ, mmom ɛnam tenenee a ɛfiri gyidie mu so.
For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14 Sɛ wɔn a wɔdi Mmara so yɛ adedifoɔ a, ɛnneɛ na gyidie nka hwee, na bɔhyɛ no nso ho nni mfasoɔ,
For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
15 ɛfiri sɛ mmara de abufuhyeɛ ba. Na sɛ mmara nni hɔ a, mmarato nni hɔ.
Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
16 Enti bɔhyɛ no firi gyidie mu sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a ɛbɛfiri adom mu na ɛbɛtena hɔ ama Abraham asefoɔ nyinaa; ɛnyɛ wɔn a wɔwɔ mmara no ase nko ara, na mmom wɔn a wɔwɔ gyidie sɛ Abraham nso. Ɔyɛ yɛn nyinaa agya.
Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by favour; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 Sɛdeɛ wɔatwerɛ no: “Mayɛ wo aman bebree agya.” Onyankopɔn kaa saa, ɛfiri sɛ, Abraham gyee Onyankopɔn a ɔma awufoɔ nya nkwa, na ɔyɛ nneɛma foforɔ firi deɛ ɛnni hɔ mu diiɛ.
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations, ) before him whom he believed, even YHWH, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18 Ɛberɛ a anidasoɔ asa no, Abraham nyaa anidasoɔ gye diiɛ, enti ɔbɛyɛɛ aman bebree so agya, sɛdeɛ na wɔaka akyerɛ no sɛ, “Saa na wʼasefoɔ bɛyɛ” no.
Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations; according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 Abraham gyidie anhinhim ɛberɛ a na ɔreyɛ adi mfeɛ ɔha no mpo. Na ɔnim nso sɛ ɔregye nna awu, na ne yere Sara nso rentumi nwo mma.
And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb:
20 Nanso ne gyidie anhinhim, na wannye Onyankopɔn bɔhyɛ no ho akyinnyeɛ. Ɔhyɛɛ ne gyidie mu den de animuonyam maa Onyankopɔn.
He staggered not at the promise of YHWH through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to YHWH;
21 Na ɔgye dii yie sɛ Onyankopɔn bɛtumi ayɛ deɛ wahyɛ ho bɔ no.
And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 Yei enti wɔbuu no sɛ tenenee maa no.
And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Wɔtwerɛɛ sɛ, “Wɔbuu no sɛ tenenee maa no” no, wɔantwerɛ amma ɔno nko ara.
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 Na mmom wɔtwerɛ maa yɛn nso a Onyankopɔn bɛbu yɛn sɛ ateneneefoɔ, yɛn a yɛgye deɛ ɔnyanee Yesu, yɛn Awurade, firii awufoɔ mu die no.
But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Yahushua our Saviour from the dead;
25 Yɛn bɔne enti, wɔyii no maa owuo, na wɔnyanee no maa yɛn bembuo.
Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
