1 Ɛsɛ sɛ obiara brɛ ne ho ase ma tumi a ɛwɔ ɔman no mu, ɛfiri sɛ, tumi biara nni hɔ a ɛmfiri Onyankopɔn pɛ mu. Tumi biara a ɛwɔ hɔ no firi Onyankopɔn.
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
2 Obiara a ɔne tumi a ɛwɔ hɔ no di asie no tia deɛ Onyankopɔn ahyehyɛ. Na obiara a ɔbɛyɛ saa no de atemmuo ba nʼankasa ara so.
Therefore he who resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment.
3 Wɔn a wɔyɛ papa no nsuro atumfoɔ, na mmom wɔn a wɔyɛ amumuyɛ no na wɔsuro atumfoɔ. Wopɛ sɛ woyɛ obi a ɔnsuro deɛ tumi wɔ ne nsam anaa? Ɛnneɛ, yɛ deɛ ɛtene na ɔbɛkamfo wo.
For rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. Do you desire to have no fear of the authority? Do that which is good, and you will have praise from the same,
4 Ɛfiri sɛ, ɔyɛ Onyankopɔn ɔsomfoɔ a wo yiedie mu enti na ɔyɛ adwuma. Na sɛ woyɛ bɔne a, suro no ɛfiri sɛ, ne tumi a ɔde twe aso no da hɔ fann. Ɔyɛ Onyankopɔn ɔsomfoɔ, enti ɔnam Onyankopɔn abufuo so twe wɔn a wɔyɛ bɔne no aso.
for it is a servant of God to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid, for it does not bear the sword in vain. It is God's servant to administer retribution on those who do what is wrong.
5 Esiane saa enti, ɛsɛ sɛ wobrɛ wo ho ase ma tumi, a ɛnyɛ sɛ Onyankopɔn abufuo no enti, na mmom, ɛsiane nim a wonim sɛ ɛsɛ sɛ woyɛ no enti.
Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of this retribution, but also as a matter of conscience.
6 Yei enti na ɛsɛ sɛ wotua toɔ, ɛfiri sɛ, sɛ atumfoɔ no yɛ wɔn adwuma a, wɔyɛ ma Onyankopɔn.
For this reason you also pay taxes, for they are servants of God, concerned with this very thing.
7 Enti, tua ka a wode wɔn; tua ka a wode; sɛ ɛyɛ wo honam mu ka anaasɛ ɛyɛ agyapadeɛ ho ka, na fa obuo ne anidie ma wɔn nyinaa.
Give therefore to everyone what you owe: taxes to whom taxes are due; customs to whom customs; respect to whom respect; honor to whom honor.
8 Nne obiara ka. Ɛka a ɛsɛ sɛ wode ara ne sɛ wobɛdɔ afoforɔ. Obiara a ɔdɔ ne yɔnko nnipa no adi mmara no so.
Owe no one anything, except to love one another; for he who loves his neighbor has fulfilled the law.
9 Mmaransɛm a ɛka sɛ, “Nsɛe awadeɛ, nni awu, mmɔ korɔno, mma wʼani mmere adeɛ,” yeinom ne deɛ ɛkeka ho nyinaa tiawatwa ara ne sɛ, “Dɔ wo yɔnko sɛ wo ho.”
For the commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not give false testimony," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandments there are, are all summed up in this saying, namely, "You are to love your neighbor as yourself."
10 Obiara a ɔdɔ ne yɔnko no nyɛ no bɔne. Sɛ wodɔ wo yɔnko a, na ɛkyerɛ sɛ woadi mmara no nyinaa so.
Love does not harm a neighbor. Love therefore is the fulfillment of the law.
11 Ɛsɛ sɛ woyɛ yei, ɛfiri sɛ, wonim mmerɛ a wowɔ mu. Ɛberɛ aduru sɛ wosɔre firi wo nna mu. Ɛfiri sɛ, ɛberɛ a ɛsɛ sɛ wɔgye yɛn nkwa no abɛn sene ɛberɛ a yɛgye dii kane no.
Do this, knowing the time, that it is already time for you to awaken out of sleep, for salvation is now nearer to us than when we first believed.
12 Adesaeɛ retwam, na adekyeeɛ reyɛ abɛn yɛn. Enti, momma yɛnnyae nneɛma a ɛyɛ sum deɛ no yɛ, na momfa akodeɛ a wɔde ko hann mu no.
The night is far gone, and the day is near. Let us therefore throw off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.
13 Momma yɛmmɔ yɛn bra yie te sɛ nnipa a wɔte hann no mu a agobɔne anaa nsãborɔ, adwamammɔ anaa ahohwie, ɔko anaa anibereɛ nni mu.
Let us walk decently, as in the daytime; not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and lustful acts, and not in dissension and jealousy.
14 Momma Awurade Yesu Kristo mmɛn mo te sɛ ntoma a mofira, na morempɛ sɛ mobɛyɛ deɛ ɔhonam pɛ.
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, for its lusts.
