1 Kora mma “maskil” dwom. Ao Onyankopɔn, yɛde yɛn aso ate; yɛn agyanom aka akyerɛ yɛn; deɛ woyɛeɛ wɔ wɔn berɛ so, wɔ tete mmerɛ no mu.
TO THE OVERSEER. AN INSTRUCTION OF THE SONS OF KORAH. O God, we have heard with our ears, Our fathers have recounted to us, The work You worked in their days, In the days of old.
2 Wode wo nsa pamoo amanaman no na wobɔɔ yɛn agyanom atenaseɛ; wodwerɛɛ nnipa no na womaa yɛn agyanom dii yie.
You, [with] Your hand, have dispossessed nations. And You plant them. You afflict peoples, and send them away.
3 Ɛnyɛ wɔn akofena na wɔde nyaa asase no, na ɛnyɛ wɔn nsa na ɛmaa wɔn nkonimdie; ɛyɛ wo nsa nifa, wo basa, ne wʼanim hann, ɛfiri sɛ na wodɔ wɔn.
For they did not possess the land by their sword, And their arm did not give salvation to them, But Your right hand, and Your arm, And the light of Your countenance, Because You had accepted them.
4 Woyɛ me Ɔhene ne me Onyankopɔn, deɛ ɔhyɛ nkonimdie ma Yakob.
You [are] He, my King, O God, Command the deliverances of Jacob.
5 Ɛnam wo so na yɛpamoo yɛn Atamfoɔ; wo din mu na yɛtiatia wɔn a wɔkyiri yɛn soɔ.
By You we push our adversaries, By Your Name we tread down our withstanders,
6 Meremfa me ho nto mʼagyan so mʼakofena remfa nkonimdie mmrɛ me;
For I do not trust in my bow, And my sword does not save me.
7 na wo na woma yɛdi yɛn atamfoɔ so. Wogu wɔn a wɔtane yɛn anim ase.
For You have saved us from our adversaries, And You have put to shame those hating us.
8 Onyankopɔn mu na yɛhoahoa yɛn ho da mu nyinaa na yɛbɛkamfo wo din no daa daa.
In God we have boasted all the day, And we thank Your Name for all time. (Selah)
9 Nanso seesei woapo yɛn abrɛ yɛn ase; wone yɛn asraafoɔ nnkɔ ɔsa bio.
In anger You have cast off and cause us to blush, And do not go forth with our hosts.
10 Woma yɛdwane firii ɛdɔm anim ma yɛn atamfoɔ fom yɛn agyapadeɛ.
You cause us to turn backward from an adversary, And those hating us, Have spoiled for themselves.
11 Woyii yɛn maa sɛ wɔnkum yɛn sɛ nnwan na woahwete yɛn wɔ amanaman no mu.
You make us food like sheep, And You have scattered us among nations.
12 Wotɔn wo nkurɔfoɔ fofoofo, na woannya mfasoɔ biara amfiri mu.
You sell Your people—without wealth, And have not become great by their price.
13 Woayɛ yɛn ahohoradeɛ ama yɛn afipamfoɔ, animtiabudeɛ ne aseredeɛ ama wɔn a atwa yɛn ho ahyia.
You make us a reproach to our neighbors, A scorn and a reproach to our surrounders.
14 Woayɛ yɛn akasabɛbuo wɔ aman no mu na nnipa no woso wɔn ti de gu yɛn so.
You make us an allegory among nations, A shaking of the head among peoples.
15 Mʼanimguaseɛ di mʼanim daa, na aniwuo akata mʼanim
All the day my confusion [is] before me, And the shame of my face has covered me.
16 ɛsiane wɔn a wɔbɔ me ahohora na wɔkasa tia me de yi me ahi, ɛsiane ɔtamfoɔ a nʼani abre sɛ ɔbɛtɔ were no enti.
Because of the voice of a reproacher and reviler, Because of an enemy and a self-avenger.
17 Yeinom nyinaa too yɛn deɛ, nanso yɛn werɛ mfirii wo, na yɛmmuu wʼapam no nso so.
All this met us, and we did not forget You, Nor have we dealt falsely in Your covenant.
18 Yɛn akoma ntwe mfirii wo ho; na yɛn nan nso mmane mfirii wo kwan so.
We do not turn our heart backward, Nor turn aside our step from Your path.
19 Nanso wodwerɛɛ yɛn yɛɛ yɛn sakraman tuo na wode esum kabii kataa yɛn so.
But You have struck us in a place of dragons, And cover us over with death-shade.
20 Sɛ na yɛn werɛ afiri yɛn Onyankopɔn din anaa sɛ yɛatrɛ yɛn nsam akyerɛ ananafoɔ nyame a
If we have forgotten the Name of our God, And spread our hands to a strange God,
21 anka Onyankopɔn bɛhunu, ɛfiri sɛ ɔnim akoma mu ahintasɛm.
Does God not search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.
22 Nanso, wo enti, wɔkum yɛn daa nyinaa; wɔbu yɛn sɛ nnwan a wɔrekɔkum wɔn.
Surely, for Your sake we have been slain all the day, Reckoned as sheep of the slaughter.
23 Nyane, Ao Awurade! Adɛn enti na wada? Keka wo ho! Nnya yɛn hɔ afebɔɔ.
Stir up—why do You sleep, O Lord? Awake, do not cast us off forever.
24 Adɛn enti na wode wʼanim ahinta na wo werɛ firi yɛn ahohia ne nhyɛsoɔ?
Why do You hide Your face? You forget our afflictions and our oppression,
25 Wɔabrɛ yɛn ase kɔ dɔteɛ mu na yɛn onipadua aka afam dɔteɛ.
For our soul has bowed to the dust, Our belly has cleaved to the earth.
26 Sɔre bɛboa yɛn; wʼadɔeɛ a ɛnsa da no enti, gye yɛn. Wɔde “Sukooko” sankuo dwomtobea na ɛtoeɛ. Wɔde ma dwomkyerɛfoɔ.
Arise, a help to us, And ransom us for your kindness’ sake.
