< Nnwom 35 >

1 Dawid dwom. Ao Awurade wo ne wɔn a wɔne me di asie no nni asie; ko tia wɔn a wɔko tia me.
“Of David.” Contend, O Lord, with those that contend with me: fight against those that fight against me.
2 Fa wʼakokyɛm ne wo nkatanimu; na sɔre bra bɛboa me.
Take hold of shield and buckler, and rise up for my help.
3 Twe pea ne abonnua wɔ wɔn a wɔtaa me so ka kyerɛ me kra sɛ, “Mene wʼagyenkwa.”
And draw out the spear, and step in against my pursuers; say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.
4 Wɔn a wɔpɛ sɛ wɔkum me no ma wɔn anim ngu ase; wɔn a wɔbɔ me sɛeɛ ho pɔ no ma wɔmfa aniwuo nsane wɔn akyi.
Let those be put to shame and be confounded that seek after my life: let those be turned backward and be made to blush, that devise unhappiness for me.
5 Ma wɔnyɛ sɛ ntɛtɛ a mframa bɔ guo wɔn a Awurade ɔbɔfoɔ repam wɔn.
Let them be as chaff before the wind; and may the angel of the Lord cast them forth.
6 Ma wɔn akwan so nnuru sum na ɛso nyɛ toro, na Awurade ɔbɔfoɔ ntaa wɔn so.
May their way be dark and slippery: and may the angel of the Lord pursue them.
7 Esiane sɛ wɔde atena sum me afidie kwa na wɔtuu amena maa me a menyɛɛ wɔn hwee no enti
For without cause have they hidden for me their net in a pit, without cause have they dug [pit-falls] against my life.
8 ma ɔsɛeɛ mmɛfu wɔn mu na atena no a wɔde hintaaeɛ nyi wɔn, na ma wɔnhwe amena no mu nsɛe.
May then destruction come upon each of them at unawares; and may his net that he hath hidden catch himself: in [utter] destruction let him fall therein.
9 Afei me kra ani bɛgye wɔ Awurade mu na wasɛpɛ ne ho wɔ ne nkwagyeɛ mu.
But my soul shall exult in the Lord: she shall be glad through his salvation.
All my bones will say, Lord, who is like unto thee, who deliverest the poor from him that is too strong for him, yea, the poor and the needy from him that robbeth him?
11 Adansekurumfoɔ sɔre; wɔbisa me nneɛma a mennim ho hwee ho asɛm.
There rise up witnesses of violence; concerning what I know not they question me.
12 Wɔde bɔne tua papa a meyɛ so ka na wɔma me kra yɛ basaa.
They recompense me with evil in place of good, [bringing] bereavement on my soul.
13 Nanso, ɛberɛ a wɔyareeɛ no, mefiraa ayitoma na mede akɔnkyene brɛɛ me ho ase. Ɛberɛ a me mpaeɛbɔ ho mmuaeɛ nnya mmaeɛ no,
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth: I afflicted with fasting my soul, and my prayer returned into my own bosom.
14 mekɔɔ so twaa adwo sɛdeɛ meyɛ ma mʼadamfo anaa onuabarima. Mede awerɛhoɔ sii me ti ase te sɛ deɛ meregyam me maame.
As though he had been to me a friend or a brother did I walk about: as one that mourneth for a mother did I sorrowfully bend down my head.
15 Nanso, ɛberɛ a mesuntiiɛ no, wɔde anigyeɛ boaa wɔn ho ano; ntohyɛsofoɔ twaa me ho hyiaaɛ a mennim na wɔdii me ho nsekuro a wɔantwa so da.
But in my downfall they rejoiced, and gathered themselves together; there gathered themselves together against me abject wretches, whom I knew not; they did tear me, and ceased not:
16 Wɔde adwemmɔne dii me ho fɛ te sɛ nnipa a wɔnni nyamesu; wɔtwɛree wɔn se guu me so.
With hypocritical babbling mockers, they gnashed upon me with their teeth.
17 Ao Awurade, wobɛhwɛ wɔn akɔsi da bɛn? Gye me nkwa firi wɔn sɛeɛ mu, gye me nkwa a ɛsom bo no firi saa agyata yi nsam.
O Lord, how long wilt thou look on? rescue my soul from their destructions, from the young lions my solitary spirit.
18 Na mɛda wo ase wɔ dwabɔ kɛseɛ ase; wɔ nnipa dodoɔ mu na mɛkamfo woɔ.
I will thank thee in the great assembly: among a mighty people will I praise thee.
19 Mma mʼatamfoɔ a wɔtane me kwa no nhwɛ me haa nsere. Mma wɔn a menyɛɛ wɔn hwee nso wɔtane me no mmfa adwene bɔne mmu me anikyeɛ.
Let not rejoice over me those that are my enemies wrongfully: [nor] let those who hate me without cause wink with the eye.
20 Wɔnnkasa asomdwoeɛ so, na mmom, wɔde ntwatosoɔ tia nnipa a wɔmpɛ wɔn ho asɛm wɔ asase yi so.
For they speak not peace; but against the quiet in the land they devise deceitful words.
21 Wɔhwɛ me haa ka sɛ, “Aane! Aane, yɛde yɛn ankasa ani ahunu.”
Yea, they opened wide against me their mouth; they said, Aha, aha, our eye hath seen it.
22 Ao Awurade, wahunu na mmua wʼano. Nte wo ho nkɔ akyiri, Ao Awurade.
Thou hast seen it, O Lord! remain not silent: O Lord, be not far from me.
23 Nyane, sɔre na bɛbɔ me ho ban! Ka bi ma me, me Onyankopɔn ne mʼAwurade.
Arouse thyself, and awake to do me justice, my God and my Lord, unto my cause.
24 Di mʼasɛm ma me wɔ wo tenenee no mu, Ao Awurade me Onyankopɔn; mma wɔn nhwɛ me haa nsere.
Judge me according to thy righteousness, O Lord my God; and let them not rejoice over me.
25 Mma wɔnnwene nka sɛ, “Aane, deɛ yɛpɛ ni!” anaa wɔnnka sɛ, “Yɛanya no.”
Let them not say in their heart, Aha, [this is the wish of] our soul: let them not say, We have swallowed him up.
26 Ma wɔn a wɔhwɛ me haa sere me wɔ mʼahohiahia mu no nyinaa anim ngu ase na wɔnyɛ basaa; ma wɔn a wɔdi me so akokurokosɛm no nhyɛ aniwuo ne animguaseɛ atadeɛ.
Let those be made ashamed and put to the blush together that rejoice at my mishap; let them be clothed with shame and confusion that magnify themselves above me.
27 Ma wɔn a wɔdi ahurisie wɔ me bembuo ho no mfa anigyeɛ ne ahosɛpɛ nteam ɛberɛ nyinaa mu ma wɔnka sɛ, “Momma Awurade so, ɔno na nʼani gye ne ɔsomfoɔ yiedie ho.”
Let those shout, and rejoice, that desire my righteousness: yea, let them say continually, Great is the Lord, who desireth the welfare of his servant.
28 Me tɛkrɛma bɛka wo tenenee ne wʼayɛyie da mu nyinaa.
And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness, all the day of thy praise.
