< Nnwom 18 >

1 Wɔde ma dwomkyerɛfoɔ. Awurade akoa Dawid dwom. Ɔtoo saa dwom yi maa Awurade, ɛberɛ a ɔgyee no firii nʼatamfoɔ nyinaa ne Saulo nsam no. Medɔ wo, Ao Awurade, mʼahoɔden.
To the chief Musician. Of the servant of Yahweh, of David, —who spake unto Yahweh the words of this song, —in the day when Yahweh had rescued him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul; and he said: — I will love thee, O Yahweh my strength!
2 Awurade ne me botantim; mʼaban ne me gyefoɔ; me Onyankopɔn ne me botan Ne mu na menya me hintabea. Ɔyɛ mʼakokyɛm, me nkwagyeɛ abɛn ne mʼabandenden.
Yahweh, was my mountain crag and my stronghold, and my deliverer: My GOD, was my rock, I sought refuge in him, My shield, and my horn of salvation, my high tower.
3 Mesu frɛ Awurade; ɔno na ayɛyie sɛ no, ɛfiri sɛ ɔgye me firi mʼatamfoɔ nsam.
As one worthy to be praised, called I on Yahweh, —And, from my foes, was I saved.
4 Owuo nkɔnsɔnkɔnsɔn kyekyeree me; na ɔsɛeɛ asorɔkye bu faa me so.
The meshes of death encompassed me, The torrents of perdition, made me afraid;
5 Damena nhoma kyekyeree me; owuo ankasa too me anihaa. (Sheol h7585)
The meshes of hades, had surrounded me, The snares of death, had confronted me, (Sheol h7585)
6 Mʼahohia mu, mesu mefrɛɛ Awurade. Mesu mefrɛɛ me Onyankopɔn pɛɛ mmoa. Ɔfiri nʼasɔrefie hɔ tee me nne; me sufrɛ baa nʼanim, na ɛkɔɔ nʼasom.
In my distress, called I on Yahweh, And, unto my God, made outcry for help, He heard, out of his temple, my voice, And my outcry for help came before him—entered into his ears!
7 Asase wosoeɛ na ɛhinhimeɛ, na mmepɔ fapem wosoeɛ wɔsuroeɛ ɛfiri sɛ na ne bo afu.
Then did the earth shake and quake, Even, the foundations of the mountains, were deeply moved, Yea they did shake, because he was angry.
8 Wisie firii ne hwene mu; ogyaframa firii nʼanom, na egyasramma dɛre firii mu.
There went up smoke in his nostrils, and, a fire out of his mouth, devoured, Live coals, were kindled from it:
9 Ɔfirii ɔsoro baa fam; na omununkum kabii duruu ne nan ase.
Then he stretched out the heaven, and came down, —and, thick gloom, was under his feet;
10 Ɔte Kerubim so tu kɔɔ soro; gyaagyaa ne ho wɔ mframa ntaban so.
Then he rode on a cherub, and flew, and darted on the wings of the wind;
11 Ɔde sum kataa ne ho, osu a amuna tumm atwa ne ho ahyia.
Made darkness his hiding-place, Round about him—his pavilion, Darkness of waters, clouds of vapours.
12 Hann kɛseɛ hyerɛn wɔ nʼanim, na omununkum a asukɔtweaa ne anyinam wɔ mu firii ne ho hyerɛn mu baeɛ.
Out of the brightness before him, his clouds rolled along, hail, and live coals of fire.
13 Awurade bobɔɔ mu firii soro; Ɔsorosoroni no nne gyegyeeɛ bio.
Then did Yahweh thunder in the heavens, and the Highest uttered his voice, —hail, and live coals of fire.
14 Ɔtoo ne bɛmma no de bɔɔ atamfoɔ no hweteeɛ, ɔde anyinam a ano yɛn den pamoo wɔn.
And he sent forth his arrows and scattered them, yea, lightnings, he shot out, and confused them.
15 Ɛpo mu mmɔnka ho yiyiiɛ na asase nnyinasoɔ ho daa hɔ, ɛsiane wʼanimka ne ahomeguo a ɛfiri wo hwene mu no enti, Ao Awurade.
Then appeared the channels of waters, were uncovered the foundations of the world, —At thy rebuke O Yahweh, at the blast of the breath of thy nostrils.
16 Ɔfiri ɔsoro baa ɛfam bɛsɔɔ me mu; ɔtwee me firii nsuo a emu dɔ mu.
He sent from on high, he took me, —he drew me out of many waters.
17 Ɔgyee me firii me ɔtamfoɔ hoɔdenfoɔ nsam, wɔn a wɔn ani sa me, na wɔn ho yɛ den dodo ma me no.
He rescued me from my foe, in his might, and from them who hated me, because they were too strong for me:
18 Wɔbaa me so wɔ mʼamanehunu da mu, nanso Awurade pagyaa me.
They confronted me, in the day of my necessity, Then became Yahweh my stay:
19 Ɔde me baa baabi a ɛhɔ trɛ; ɔgyee me, ɛfiri sɛ nʼani sɔɔ me.
And brought me out, into a large place, he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
20 Awurade ne me adi no sɛdeɛ me tenenee teɛ; wahwɛ me nsa a ɛho teɛ so atua me ka.
Yahweh rewarded me according to my righteousness, According to the cleanness of my hands, he repaid me;
21 Manante Awurade akwan so. Mentwee me ho mfirii me Onyankopɔn ho nkɔyɛɛ bɔne.
For I had kept the ways of Yahweh, and not broken away from my God;
22 Madi ne mmara nyinaa so: memmuu nʼahyɛdeɛ so.
For, all his regulations, were before me, and, his statutes, did I not put from me:
23 Me ho nni asɛm wɔ Onyankopɔn anim, na matwe me ho afiri bɔne ho.
So became I blameless with him, and kept myself from mine iniquity.
24 Awurade agyina me teneneeyɛ ne me nsa a ɛho teɛ wɔ nʼanim so atua me ka.
Yahweh therefore repaid me according to my righteousness, according to the pureness of my hands, before his eyes.
25 Woda wo ho adi sɛ ɔnokwafoɔ kyerɛ wɔn a wɔdi nokorɛ, wɔn a wɔdi mu nso wo kyerɛ wɔn sɛ wodi mu.
With the loving, thou didst show thyself loving, —With the blameless man, thou didst show thyself blameless;
26 Woyɛ kronn ma wɔn a wɔyɛ kronn, na amumuyɛfoɔ deɛ, wokyiri wɔn.
With the pure, thou didst show thyself pure, But, with the perverse, thou didst show thyself ready to contend.
27 Wogye ahobrɛasefoɔ nkwa, na wobrɛ ahantanfoɔ ase.
For, as for thee, an oppressed people, thou didst save, but, looks that were lofty, layedst thou low;
28 Ao Awurade, woyɛ me kanea. Aane, woma me sum dane hann.
For, thou, didst light up my lamp, Yahweh my God, enlightened my darkness;
29 Wʼahoɔden a wode ma me enti, metumi ka akodɔm gu; me Onyankopɔn enti, metumi foro ɔfasuo.
For, by thee, I ran through a troop, and, by my God, I leapt over a wall.
30 Onyankopɔn deɛ, nʼakwan yɛ pɛ; Awurade bɔhyɛ nyinaa ba mu. Ɔyɛ akokyɛm ma wɔn a wɔhwehwɛ banbɔ wɔ ne mu.
As for GOD, blameless is his way, The speech of Yahweh hath been proved, A shield, he is to all who seek refuge in him.
31 Na hwan na ɔyɛ Onyankopɔn ka Awurade ho? Na hwan na ɔyɛ Ɔbotan no, gye sɛ yɛn Onyankopɔn no.
For who is a GOD, save Yahweh? And who is a Rock, save our God?
32 Ɛyɛ Onyankopɔn na ɔma me ahoɔden, na ɔma me kwan yɛ pɛ.
The GOD who girded me with strength, and set forth, as blameless, my way:
33 Ɔma mʼanammɔn ho yɛ hare sɛ ɔforoteɛ deɛ. Ɔma me gyina sorɔnsorɔmmea.
Planting my feet like hinds’ [feet], yea, on my high places, he caused me to stand:
34 Ɔsiesie me ma ɔko, na mʼabasa tumi kuntunu kɔbere mfrafraeɛ tadua.
Teaching my hands to war, —so that a bow of bronze was bent by mine arms.
35 Wode wo nkonimdie akokyɛm ma me, na wo nsa nifa kura me. Wobrɛ wo ho ase ma meyɛ kɛseɛ.
Thus didst thou grant me, as a shield, thy salvation, —and, thy right hand, sustained me, and, thy condescension, made me great.
36 Woabɔ ɛkwan tɛtrɛɛ ama me nan sɛdeɛ ɛrenwatiri.
Thou didst widen my stepping-places under me, so that, mine ankles, faltered not.
37 Metaa mʼatamfoɔ kɔtoo wɔn; mansane mʼakyi kɔsii sɛ mesɛee wɔn.
I pursued my foes, and overtook them, and returned not, till they were consumed:
38 Mɛdwerɛ wɔn, na wɔantumi ansɔre, wɔhwehwee ase wɔ me nan ase.
I crushed them, and they were unable to rise, They fell under my feet.
39 Wode akodie ahoɔden maa me; womaa mʼatamfoɔ bɔɔ wɔn mu ase wɔ me nan ase.
Thus didst thou gird me with strength, for the battle, Thou subduedst mine assailants under me.
40 Womaa mʼatamfoɔ danee wɔn ho dwaneeɛ, na mesɛe wɔn a wɔtan me.
As for my foes, thou didst give me their neck, and, as for them who hated me, I destroyed them.
41 Wɔsu pɛɛ mmoa, nanso obiara ammɛgye wɔn, wɔfrɛɛ Awurade, nanso wammua.
They cried out, but there was none to save, unto Yahweh, but he answered them not.
42 Meyamoo wɔn sɛ mfuturo a mframa bɔ guo; me hwiee wɔn guiɛ sɛ mmɔntene so atɛkyɛ.
Then did I beat them in pieces, like dust on the face of the wind. Like the mire in the lanes, did I scatter them.
43 Woagye me afiri nnipa no ntohyɛsoɔ mu, woayɛ me amanaman no ti; nnipa a mennim wɔn abɛyɛ mʼasomfoɔ.
Thus didst thou rescue me from the contentions of a people, —didst appoint me to be the head of nations, A people I had not known, served me:
44 Wɔte me nka pɛ a, wɔyɛ ɔsetie ma me; ananafoɔ koto mʼanim.
At the hearing of the ear, they submitted to me, the sons of the foreigner, came cringing unto me:
45 Wɔn nyinaa botoboto; wɔfiri wɔn abandenden mu ba ahopopoɔ so.
The sons of the foreigner, lost heart, and came quaking out of their fortresses.
46 Awurade te ase! Ayɛyi nka me Botan! Wɔmma Onyankopɔn me Gyefoɔ no din so!
Yahweh liveth and, blessed, be my Rock, yea, exalted, be the God of my salvation:
47 Ɔno ne Onyankopɔn a ɔtɔ awere ma me, ɔno na ɔka amanaman hyɛ mʼase,
The GOD, who hath avenged me, —and subjugated peoples under me:
48 ɔno na ɔgye me firi mʼatamfoɔ nsam. Wopagyaa me sii mʼatamfoɔ so, wogyee me firii basabasayɛfoɔ nsam.
Who hath delivered me from my foes, —Yea, from mine assailants, hast thou set me on high, From the man of violence, hast thou rescued me.
49 Ɛno enti, mɛkamfo wo wɔ amanaman mu, Ao Awurade. Mɛto ayɛyie dwom ama wo din.
For this cause, will I praise thee among the nations, O Yahweh, and, to thy Name, will I sweep the strings: —
50 Wode nkonimdie akɛseɛ ama wo ɔhene; woda ɔdɔ a ɛnsa da adi kyerɛ deɛ woasra no ngo, wode kyerɛ Dawid, ne nʼasefoɔ afebɔɔ.
Who hath made great the victories of his King, —and shown lovingkindness to his Anointed One, To David and to his Seed, Unto times age-abiding.
