< Nnwom 139 >
1 Dawid dwom. Ao Awurade, woahwehwɛ me mu na woahunu me.
To the Chief Musician, David’s. A Melody. O Yahweh! thou hast searched me, and observed:
2 Wonim mʼasetena ne me sɔreɛ; wofiri akyirikyiri hunu mʼadwene mu.
Thou, hast observed my downsitting and mine uprising, Thou hast given heed to my desire, from afar:
3 Wonim mʼadifirie ne me nnaeɛ; wonim mʼakwan nyinaa.
My path and my couch, hast thou examined, and, all my ways, thou well knowest.
4 Ansa na mɛbue mʼano akasa no Ao Awurade, na wonim ne nyinaa dada.
Surely there hath not been a word on my tongue, [but] behold! O Yahweh, thou hast observed it on every side.
5 Woatwa me ho nyinaa ahyia na wobɔ me ho ban.
Behind and before, hast thou shut me in, and hast laid upon me thy hand: —
6 Saa nimdeɛ yi boro me nteaseɛ so, ɛyɛ me nwanwa dodo.
Knowledge, too wonderful, for me! high, I cannot attain to it!
7 Ɛhe na mɛtumi afiri wo honhom anim akorɔ? Ɛhe na mɛtumi adwane afiri wʼanim akorɔ?
Whither can I go from thy spirit? or whither, from thy face, can I flee?
8 Sɛ meforo soro a, wowɔ hɔ. Na mekɔsɛ me kɛtɛ wɔ asaman a, wo nie. (Sheol )
If I ascend the heavens, there, thou art! If I spread out hades as my couch, behold thee! (Sheol )
9 Sɛ mede adekyeeɛ ntaban tu na mekɔtena ɛpo akyi nohoa a,
If I mount the wings of the dawn, settle down in the region beyond the sea,
10 mpo ɛhɔ na wo nsa bɛgya me akɔ, na wo nsa nifa bɛsɔ me mu.
Even there, thy hand shall lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 Na meka sɛ, “Ampa ara esum mmɛkata me so na hann nnane adesaeɛ ntwa me ho nhyia a,”
If I say, Surely, darkness, shall cover me! then, night, is light about me.
12 esum mpo nnyɛ sum mma wo; na anadwo bɛhyerɛn sɛ awia; esum ne hann yɛ wo pɛ.
Even darkness, will not conceal from thee, —but, night, like day, will shine, So is the darkness, as the light!
13 Na wo na wobɔɔ me honhom wonwonoo me wɔ me maame awotwaa mu.
For, thou, didst possess thyself of my reins, thou didst weave me together in the womb of my mother.
14 Mekamfo wo, ɛfiri sɛ woyɛɛ me anwanwakwan so a ɛyɛ hu. Wo nnwuma yɛ nwanwa. Menim ɛno yie pa ara.
I thank thee, in that fearfully was my being distinguished, Wonderful are thy works, and, mine own soul, is observing [them] intently!
15 Wɔamfa me bɔberɛ anhinta wo ɛberɛ a wɔyɛɛ me kɔkoam no; ɛberɛ a wɔnwonoo me asase yam no,
My substance was not hid from thee, —when I was made in secret, when I was skilfully figured in the lower parts of the earth.
16 wʼani hunuu me ɛberɛ a meyɛ mogya toa no. Nna dodoɔ a woatwa ama me no, wɔatwerɛ ne nyinaa wɔ wo nwoma mu ansa na emu baako reba mu.
Mine unfinished substance, thine eyes beheld, and, in thy book, all the parts thereof were written, —the days they should be fashioned! while yet there was not one among them.
17 Ao Onyankopɔn, wo nsusuiɛ som bo ma me! Woka ne nyinaa bɔ mu a, ɛso dodo!
To me, then, how precious have thy desires become, O GOD! How numerous, the heads of them!
18 Sɛ mese mɛkan a, ne dodoɔ bɛboro mpoano anwea, sɛ menyane a, me ne wo wɔ hɔ ara.
I would recount them! Beyond the sands, they multiply, I rouse myself—and am still with thee.
19 Ao Onyankopɔn, sɛ anka wobɛkumkum amumuyɛfoɔ a! Momfiri me so, mo mogyapɛfoɔ!
Wilt thou not, O GOD, slay the lawless one? Therefore, ye men of bloodshed, depart from me!
20 Wɔde adwemmɔne ka wo ho asɛm; wʼatamfoɔ mmɔ wo din pa.
For they speak of thee wickedly, Thy foes lift up [their hand] unto falsehood.
21 Ao Awurade, metane wɔn a wɔtane wo, na mekyiri wɔn a wɔsɔre tia woɔ.
Do I not hate, them who hate thee, O Yahweh? And loathe, them who rise up against thee?
22 Menni hwee sɛ ɔtan a mewɔ ma wɔn; mefa wɔn sɛ mʼatamfoɔ.
With completeness of hatred, I hate them, As enemies, have they become to me.
23 Hwehwɛ me mu, Ao Onyankopɔn, na hunu mʼakoma; sɔ me hwɛ na hunu mʼadwene.
Search me, O GOD, and observe my heart, Try me, and observe my cares;
24 Hwɛ sɛ bɔne bi wɔ me mu a, na fa me fa ɛkwan a ɛkɔ daa nkwa so. Wɔde ma dwomkyerɛfoɔ.
And see if there be any idol-way in me, and lead me in a way age-abiding.
