1 Ɛberɛ a Israelfoɔ firii Misraim, na Yakob fiefoɔ firii ananafoɔ asase so no,
When Israel went out of Egypt, Jacob’s house from a barbarous people,
2 Yuda bɛyɛɛ Awurade kronkronbea na Israel bɛyɛɛ nʼahemman.
God chose Judah for himself, Israel became his kingdom.
3 Ɛpo no huruiɛ na ɛdwaneeɛ, Yordan sanee nʼakyi;
The sea saw it, and fled, Jordan river ran backwards.
4 Mmepɔ hurihurii sɛ nnwennini nkokoɔ nso hurihurii sɛ nnwammaa.
Mountains skipped like rams, hills like the young of the flock.
5 Ɛdeɛn na ɛbaeɛ, Ao ɛpo, na wodwaneeɛ, Ao Yordan, na wosanee wʼakyi,
Why, sea, do you flee? Jordan, why run backwards?

Mountains, why skip ram-like? Why, hills, like the young of the flock?
