1 Dawid dwom. Ao Onyankopɔn a mekamfo woɔ, mmua wʼano,
For the music director. A psalm of David. God, the one I praise, please don't remain silent,
2 na amumuyɛfoɔ ne nkontompofoɔ atu wɔn ano agu me so; wɔde atorɔ tɛkrɛma akasa atia me.
because wicked and deceitful people are attacking me, telling lies about me.
3 Wɔde nitansɛm atwa me ho ahyia na wɔto hyɛ me so a menkaa wɔn.
They surround me with words of hate, fighting against me for no reason.
4 Wɔka nsɛm to me so de tua me nnamfoyɛ so ka, nanso meyɛ obi a ɔpɛ mpaeɛbɔ.
I love them, but they respond with hostility towards me, even while I'm praying for them!
5 Wɔde bɔne tua me papayɛ so ka, na wɔde ɔtan tua me nnamfoyɛ so ka.
They pay me back with evil instead of good, with hatred instead of love.
6 Ma onipa bɔne bi nsɔre ntia no; na Satan nnyina ne nsa nifa so.
“Appoint someone wicked over him. Have someone stand as an accuser against him.
7 Wɔdi nʼasɛm a, ma ɔnni fɔ, na ne mpaeɛbɔ mmu no kumfɔ.
When he is judged and sentenced, may he be found guilty. Let his prayers be counted as sins.
8 Ma ne nkwa nna nyɛ kakraa bi; na ɔfoforɔ nsi nʼanan mu sɛ ɔkandifoɔ.
May his life be short; let someone else take over his position.
9 Ma ne mma nyɛ nwisiaa na ne yere nyɛ okunafoɔ.
May his children be left fatherless, and his wife become a widow.
10 Ma ne mma nkyinkyini nsrɛsrɛ adeɛ; ma wɔmpam wɔn mfiri wɔn afie a abubuo no mu.
May his children be homeless, wandering beggars, driven from their ruined houses.
11 Ma ɔdefirifoɔ bi mfa deɛ ɔwɔ nyinaa; na amanfrafoɔ mfom nʼadwuma so aba.
May creditors seize all that he owns; may strangers take all that he worked for.
12 Mma obiara nhunu no mmɔbɔ Mma obiara nhunu ne nwisiaa nso mmɔbɔ.
May no one be kind to him; may no one take pity on his fatherless children.
13 Ma nʼase nhye, na wɔn din nyera wɔ awoɔ ntoatoasoɔ a ɛreba no mu.
May his descendants die; may his family name be wiped out in the next generation.
14 Ma wɔnkae nʼagyanom nnebɔne wɔ Awurade anim; na ne maame bɔne no ntena hɔ daa.
May the Lord be reminded of the sins of his fathers; may his mother's sins not be blotted out.
15 Wɔn bɔne nyinaa nka Awurade anim, na wɔankae wɔn bio wɔ asase so.
May their sins be constantly before the Lord; may his name be totally forgotten by people.
16 Ɛfiri sɛ wannwene da sɛ ɔbɛyɛ adɔeɛ, na mmom ɔtaa ahiafoɔ mmɔborɔfoɔ ne wɔn a wɔn werɛ ahoɔ de kɔɔ owuo mu.
For he didn't think to be kind to others, instead he harassed and killed the poor, the needy, the brokenhearted.
17 Nʼani gyee sɛ ɔbɛdome enti nnome mmra ne so; wampɛ sɛ ɔbɛhyira enti nhyira mmɔ no.
He loved to put a curse on others—let it come back on him. He had no time for blessings—so may he never receive any.
18 Ɔhyɛɛ nnome sɛ atadeɛ; ɛnonom kɔɔ ne onipadua mu sɛ nsuo, ne ne nnompe mu sɛ ngo.
He cursed as often as he got dressed. May his curses go into him like the water he drinks, like the olive oil he rubs on his skin that enters his bones.
19 Ma ɛnyɛ sɛ atadeɛ a ɛkyekyere ne ho, ne abɔsoɔ a ɛbɔ no daa.
May his curses stick to him like clothing, may they be pulled tight around him like a belt.”
20 Ma yei nyɛ Awurade akatua a ɔde ma me kwaadubɔfoɔ, wɔn a wɔka nsɛmmɔne fa me ho no.
May all this be the punishment of the Lord on my enemies, on those who speak evil of me.
21 Nanso, wo Ao Asafo Awurade, wo din enti, wo ne me nni no yie; firi wʼadɔeɛ mu gye me.
But treat me well, Lord God, because of your own reputation. Save me because you are faithful and good.
22 Ɛfiri sɛ meyɛ ohiani ne deɛ onnibie, na mʼakoma atɔ baha wɔ me mu.
For I am poor and needy, and my heart is breaking.
23 Metwam sɛ anwummerɛ sunsumma; wɔwoso me kyene sɛ ntutummɛ.
I am fading away like an evening shadow; I am like a locust that is shaken off.
24 Abuadadie ama me kotodwe mu agogo; mafɔn na ama aka me nnompe.
I am so weak from lack of food that my legs give way; my body is just skin and bones.
25 Mayɛ aseredeɛ ama wɔn a wɔbɔ me soboɔ; sɛ wohunu me a, wɔwoso wɔn ti.
People ridicule me—they look at me and shake their heads!
26 Boa me, Ao Awurade me Onyankopɔn; gye me sɛdeɛ wʼadɔeɛ teɛ.
Help me, Lord my God; save me because of your trustworthy love.
27 Ma wɔnhunu sɛ ɛyɛ wo nsa, na wo na woayɛ, Ao Awurade.
May they recognize that this is what you are doing—that you are the one who saves me.
28 Wɔbɛdome, nanso wobɛhyira; sɛ wɔto hyɛ me so a, wɔn anim bɛgu ase, nanso wo ɔsomfoɔ ani bɛgye.
When they curse me, you will bless me. When they attack me, you will defeat them. And I, your servant, will be happy.
29 Animguaseɛ bɛdura mʼatamfoɔ ho; na akyekyere wɔn ho sɛ atadeɛ.
May those who accuse me be clothed with disgrace; may they cover themselves with a cloak of shame.
30 Mede mʼano bɛma Awurade so ayɛ no kɛseɛ; mɛkamfo no wɔ nnipadɔm mu.
But I will keep on thanking the Lord, praising him to everyone around me.
31 Ɛfiri sɛ, ɔgyina onnibie nsa nifa so sɛ ɔbɛgye no nkwa afiri wɔn a wɔbu no kumfɔ nsam.
For he takes a stand to defend the needy, to save them from those who condemn them.
