< Mmɛbusɛm 11 >

1 Awurade kyiri asisie nsania, na nʼani gye nokorɛ nkariboɔ ho.
False balances are an abomination before the Lord: but a just weight is acceptable to him.
2 Ahantan ba a, animguaseɛ na ɛdi soɔ nanso ahobrɛaseɛ de nyansa ba.
Wherever pride enters, there will be also disgrace: but the mouth of the lowly meditates wisdom.
3 Teefoɔ nokorɛdie kyerɛ wɔn ɛkwan; nanso nkontompofoɔ ano ntanta sɛe wɔn.
When a just man dies he leaves regret: but the destruction of the ungodly is speedy, and causes joy.
4 Ahonya nnka hwee abufuhyeɛ da no, nanso tenenee gye nkwa firi owuo mu.
[Possessions will not profit in a day of wrath, but righteousness will deliver from death. ]
5 Wɔn a wɔnnyɛ bɔne teneneeyɛ bɔ ɛkwan tee ma wɔn, nanso amumuyɛfoɔ amumuyɛsɛm brɛ wɔn ase.
Righteousness traces out blameless paths: but ungodliness encounters unjust dealing.
6 Pɛyɛfoɔ teneneeyɛ gye wɔn, nanso akɔnnɔ bɔne afidie yi nkontompofoɔ.
The righteousness of upright men delivers them: but transgressors are caught in their own destruction.
7 Sɛ omumuyɛfoɔ wu a, nʼanidasoɔ yera; deɛ ɔsusuu sɛ ɔbɛnya afiri ne tumi mu nyinaa no yɛ kwa.
At the death of a just man his hope does not perish: but the boast of the ungodly perishes.
8 Wɔgye ɔteneneeni firi amaneɛ mu, na ɛba omumuyɛfoɔ so mmom.
A righteous man escapes from a snare, and the ungodly man is delivered up in his place.
9 Deɛ ɔnsuro Onyame de nʼano sɛe ne yɔnko, nanso ɔteneneeni nam nimdeɛ so firi mu.
In the mouth of ungodly men is a snare to citizens: but the understanding of righteous men is prosperous.
10 Sɛ teneneefoɔ di yie a, kuropɔn no di ahurisie; nanso amumuyɛfoɔ wu a, wɔbɔ ose.
In the prosperity of righteous men a city prospers: but by the mouth of ungodly men it is overthrown.
11 Pɛyɛfoɔ nhyira ma kuropɔn no kɔ so, nanso amumuyɛfoɔ ano bɔ no.
[At the blessing of the upright a city shall be exalted. ]
12 Onipa a ɔnni adwene no bu ne yɔnko animtiaa, nanso deɛ ɔwɔ nhunumu no to ne tɛkrɛma nnareka.
A man void of understanding sneers at [his fellow] citizens: but a sensible man is quiet.
13 Osekuni da kɔkoamsɛm adi, nanso deɛ yɛnya ne mu ahotosoɔ no kora kasasie so.
A double-tongued man discloses the [secret] counsels of an assembly: but he that is faithful in spirit conceals matters.
14 Ɔman a ɛnni akwankyerɛ no bɔ, nanso afotufoɔ dodoɔ ma nkonimdie ba.
They that have no guidance fall like leaves: but in much counsel there is safety.
15 Deɛ ɔdi agyinamu ma ɔfoforɔ no bɛhunu amane, na deɛ ɔmmfa ne nsa nhyɛ awowasie ase no aso mu dwo no.
A bad man does harm wherever he meets a just man: and he hates the sound of safety.
16 Ɔbaa a ne yam yɛ no wɔde obuo ma no, nanso mmarima basabasayɛfoɔ nya ahodeɛ nko ara.
A gracious wife brings glory to her husband: but a woman hating righteousness is a theme of dishonour. The slothful come to lack: but the diligent support themselves with wealth.
17 Ɔyamyɛfoɔ yɛ ma ne ho, na otirimuɔdenfoɔ de ɔhaw ba nʼankasa so.
A merciful man does good to his own soul: but the merciless destroys his own body.
18 Omumuyɛfoɔ nya akatua a ɛnnyina, nanso deɛ ɔgu tenenee aba no twa akatua a ɛdi mu.
An ungodly man performs unrighteous works: but the seed of the righteous is a reward of truth.
19 Deɛ ɔyɛ nokorɛ teneneeni no nya nkwa, nanso deɛ ɔkɔ so yɛ bɔne no kɔ owuo mu.
A righteous son is born for life: but the persecution of the ungodly [ends] in death.
20 Awurade kyiri nnipa a wɔn akoma akyinsa, na nʼani gye wɔn a wɔn akwan ho nni asɛm ho.
Perverse ways are an abomination to the Lord: but all they that are blameless in their ways are acceptable to him.
21 Gye to mu sɛ, amumuyɛfoɔ bɛnya wɔn akatua, na teneneefoɔ bɛnya wɔn tiri adi mu.
He that unjustly strikes hands shall not be unpunished: but he that sows righteousness he shall receive a faithful reward.
22 Ɔbaa hoɔfɛfoɔ a ɔntumi nsi gyinaeɛ no te sɛ sika kawa a ɛhyɛ prako hwene mu.
As an ornament in a swine's snout, so is beauty to an ill-minded women.
23 Teneneefoɔ apɛdeɛ wie yie, nanso amumuyɛfoɔ anidasoɔ wie abufuhyeɛ.
All the desire of the righteous is good: but the hope of the ungodly shall perish.
24 Obi yɛ adɔeɛ, na ɔnya ne ho bebree; obi nso yɛ adɔna, nanso ɛhia no.
There are [some] who scatter their own, and make it more: and there are [some] also who gather, [yet] have less.
25 Ɔyamyɛfoɔ bɛkɔ so anya ne ho; na deɛ ɔma ebinom mee no nso bɛmee.
Every sincere soul is blessed: but a passionate man is not graceful.
26 Nnipa dome deɛ ɔde atokoɔ sie, na nhyira ba deɛ ɔtɔn ne deɛ so.
May he that hoards corn leave it to the nation: but blessing be on the head of him that gives [it].
27 Deɛ ɔhwehwɛ papa akyiri ɛkwan no nya anisɔ, na deɛ ɔhwehwɛ bɔne no, bɔne ba ne so.
He that devises good [counsels] seeks good favour: but [as for] him that seeks after evil, [evil] shall overtake him.
28 Deɛ ɔde ne ho to nʼahonyadeɛ soɔ no bɛhwe ase, na ɔteneneeni bɛyɛ frɔmm sɛ ahahan mono.
He that trusts in wealth shall fall; but he that helps righteous men shall rise.
29 Deɛ ɔde ɔhaw bɛto nʼabusua so no bɛdi mframa adeɛ, na ɔkwasea bɛyɛ onyansafoɔ ɔsomfoɔ.
He that deals not graciously with his own house shall inherit the wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise man.
30 Ɔteneneeni aba yɛ nkwa dua, na deɛ ɔgye akra no yɛ onyansafoɔ.
Out of the fruit of righteousness grows a tree of life; but the souls of transgressors are cut off before their time.
31 Sɛ teneneefoɔ nya wɔn akatua wɔ asase so a ɛnneɛ na wɔn a wɔnnim Onyame ne abɔnefoɔ nso ɛ!
If the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
