< Nehemia 8 >
1 ɔmanfoɔ no nyinaa hyiaa wɔ wɔn nsuseneeɛ ɛpono no ano. Ɔmanfoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ Ɛsra a ɔyɛ mmara no kyerɛkyerɛni sɛ ɔnkenkan Mose mmara a Awurade ahyɛ sɛ Israelfoɔ nni so no.
All the people gathered themselves together as one man into the wide place that was in front of the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2 Enti, bosome Tisri (bɛyɛ Ahinime) da a ɛtɔ so nwɔtwe no, ɔsɔfoɔ Ɛsra de krataa mmobɔeɛ a mmara no wɔ mu no baa badwa no a mmarima ne mmaa ne mmɔfra a wɔanyini te asɛm ase no anim.
Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women, and all who could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.
3 Ɔde nʼani kyerɛɛ adwaberem wɔ nsuseneeɛ ɛpono no ano, firi anɔpahema kɔsii owigyinaeɛ kenkanee mmara no den, maa obiara a ɔte aseɛ no teeɛ. Ɔmanfoɔ no nyinaa wɛnee wɔn aso, tiee mmara no.
He read from it before the wide place that was in front of the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those who could understand. The ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.
4 Ɛsra a ɔyɛ mmara no kyerɛkyerɛni no gyinaa apa tenten bi a wɔsi maa saa da no so. Nnipa a na wɔgyinagyina ne nifa so no no din de Matitia, Sema, Anaia, Uria, Hilkia ne Maaseia. Wɔn a na wɔgyinagyina ne benkum so no no din de Pedaia, Misael, Malkia, Hasum, Hasbadana, Sakaria ne Mesulam.
Ezra the scribe stood on a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5 Ɛsra gyinaa apa no so a nnipa dɔm no nyinaa hunu no. Ɛberɛ a wɔhunuu sɛ wabue nwoma no mu no, wɔn nyinaa sɔresɔre gyinaa wɔn nan so.
Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people (for he was above all the people), and when he opened it, all the people stood up.
6 Na Ɛsra kamfoo Awurade, Otumfoɔ Onyankopɔn, na ɔmanfoɔ no bɔ gyee so sɛ, “Amen! Amen!” wɔ ɛberɛ a wɔmemaa wɔn nsa so kyerɛɛ ɔsoro. Afei, wɔkotokotoeɛ, somm Awurade a wɔn anim butubutu fam.
Then Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. All the people answered, “Amen, Amen,” with the lifting up of their hands. They bowed their heads, and worshiped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
7 Afei, Lewifoɔ a wɔn din de Yesua, Bani, Serebia, Yamin, Akub, Sabetai, Hodia, Maaseia, Kelita, Asaria, Yosabad, Hanan ne Pelaia kyerɛɛ ɔmanfoɔ a wɔgyinagyina hɔ no deɛ wɔnyɛ.
Also Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law; and the people stayed in their place.
8 Wɔkenkan firii Onyankopɔn mmara nwoma no mu kyerɛɛ wɔn deɛ wɔkenkan no ase, boaa ɔmanfoɔ no ma wɔtee twerɛpɛn biara ase.
They read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly; and they gave the sense, so that they understood the reading.
9 Na amrado Nehemia, ɔsɔfoɔ Ɛsra a ɔyɛ mmara no kyerɛkyerɛni ne Lewifoɔ a na wɔrekyerɛkyerɛ aseɛ akyerɛ ɔmanfoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Monnsu ɛda a ɛte sɛ yei! Ɛfiri sɛ, ɛnnɛ yɛ ɛda kronkron wɔ Awurade, mo Onyankopɔn, anim.” Nnipa no tee mmara no mu nsɛm no, wɔn nyinaa suiɛ.
Nehemiah, who was the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “Today is holy to the LORD your God. Do not mourn, nor weep.” For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.
10 Na Nehemia toaa so sɛ, “Momfa nnuane pa ne anonneɛ a ɛyɛ dɛ nkɔdi afahyɛ no na mo ne wɔn a wɔnni nnuane pa a wɔanoa no nnidi. Ɛnnɛ yɛ da kronkron wɔ Awurade anim. Monnni abooboo ne awerɛhoɔ, na Awurade mu anigyeɛ no yɛ ahoɔden.”
Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Do not be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
11 Na Lewifoɔ no nso kasaa sɛ, “Hwɛ! Monnsu. Ɛfiri sɛ, ɛnnɛ yɛ ɛda kronkron” de dwodwoo wɔn.
So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Hold your peace, for the day is holy. Do not be grieved.”
12 Na nnipa no kɔdidiiɛ, kyɛɛ nnuane, nomeeɛ, dii dapɔnna no anigyeɛ so, ɛfiri sɛ, wɔtee Onyankopɔn nsɛm, tee aseɛ.
All the people went their way to eat, to drink, to send portions, and to celebrate, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.
13 Na bosome Tisri (bɛyɛ Ahinime) a ɛtɔ so nkron no, mmusua ntuanofoɔ no ne asɔfoɔ no ne Lewifoɔ no ne Ɛsra hyiaeɛ sɛ, wɔrekɔ mmara no mu fekɔfekɔ.
On the second day, the heads of fathers’ households of all the people, the priests, and the Levites were gathered together to Ezra the scribe, to study the words of the law.
14 Wɔkɔɔ mmara no mu no, wɔhunuu sɛ, Awurade nam Mose so ahyɛ sɛ, ɛsɛ sɛ Israelfoɔ no tena asese mu afahyɛ a wɔrebɛdi no saa bosome no mu no.
They found written in the law how the LORD had commanded by Moses that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month;
15 Waka sɛ, ɛsɛ sɛ wɔbɔ nhyɛ no ho dawuro wɔ wɔn nkuro nyinaa so, ne titire no, Yerusalem nam so aka akyerɛ ɔmanfoɔ no sɛ, wɔnkɔ nkokoɔ so nkɔpɛ ngo dua mman, kranku mman, ohwannua mman, ɛberɛ ne nnua kusukusuu mman, na wɔmfa mmɛbobɔ asese ntena mu, sɛdeɛ wɔatwerɛ no mmara no mu no.
and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the mountain, and get olive branches, branches of wild olive, myrtle branches, palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make temporary shelters, as it is written.”
16 Enti, nnipa no kɔtwitwaa mman, na wɔde sisii asese wɔ wɔn afie, wɔn adihɔ, Onyankopɔn asɔredan adihɔ anaa adwaberem a ɛwowɔ asutene apono no ne Efraim apono no mu.
So the people went out and brought them, and made themselves temporary shelters, everyone on the roof of his house, in their courts, in the courts of God’s house, in the wide place of the water gate, and in the wide place of Ephraim’s gate.
17 Enti, obiara a wafiri nneduasom mu aba no kɔtenaa saa asese yi mu afahyɛberɛ no nnanson mu, na obiara ani gyee yie. Ɛfiri Nun babarima Yosua berɛ so no, Israelfoɔ anni afahyɛ no saa ɛkwan yi so.
All the assembly of those who had come back out of the captivity made temporary shelters and lived in the temporary shelters, for since the days of Joshua the son of Nun to that day the children of Israel had not done so. There was very great gladness.
18 Ɛsra kenkan firii Onyankopɔn mmara nwoma no mu wɔ afahyɛ no mu nnanson no mu da biara. Afei, Tisri bosome (bɛyɛ Ahinime) da a ɛtɔ so dunum no, wɔyɛɛ nhyiamu anibereɛ so, sɛdeɛ Mose mmara hwehwɛ no.
Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. They kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.
