< Nahum 1 >
1 Elkosini Nahum anisoadehunu nwoma a ɛyɛ nkɔmhyɛ a ɛfa Ninewe ho.
A message about Nineveh, a vision which came to Nahum from Elkosh.
2 Awurade yɛ ninkunfoɔ ne aweretɔ Onyankopɔn, Awurade tɔ wedeɛ na abufuo ahyɛ no ma. Awurade tɔ nʼatamfoɔ so wedeɛ na nʼabufuo tena wɔn so.
The Lord tolerates no rivals. The Lord is vengeful and fierce in wrath. The Lord does not fail to punish his foes; the Lord is vengeful against his enemies.
3 Awurade bo kyɛre fu, na ne tumi so, na ɔtwe ɔfɔdifoɔ aso. Ne kwan wɔ ntwahoframa ne ahum mu, omununkum yɛ ne nan ase mfuturo.
The Lord is slow to anger, great in power. The guilty will not escape his punishment. Storm tempest is his path and cloud is the dust of his feet.
4 Ɔteatea ɛpo na ɔma ɛwe; ɔma nsubɔntene nyinaa wewe. Basan ne Karmel twintwam na Lebanon frɔmfrɔmyɛ nso kusa.
He rebukes the sea and dries it up and makes all the streams run dry. Bashan and Carmel are languishing and the bloom of Lebanon is withered.
5 Mmepɔ woso biribiri nʼanim na nkokoɔ nane. Asase, ewiase ne wɔn a wɔwɔ mu nyinaa woso nʼanim.
The mountains tremble before him and the hills dissolve. The earth heaves before him, the world and all who live in it.
6 Hwan na ɔbɛtumi agyina nʼabufuo ano? Hwan na ɔbɛtumi atena nʼabufuhyeɛ mu? Nʼabufuo hwie te sɛ ogya; abotan yam wɔ nʼanim.
Who can stand before his wrath? Who can withstand the heat of his anger? His fierce fury pours forth like fire, he shatters rocks.
7 Awurade yɛ, ɔyɛ ahohia mu dwanekɔbea. Nʼani wɔ wɔn a wɔde wɔn ho to no so no so.
The Lord is good to those who hope in him, a place of refuge in the day of trouble.
8 Nanso, ɔnam nsuyire nwanwasoɔ so bɛma Ninewe aba awieeɛ. Ɔbɛtaa nʼatamfoɔ akɔduru esum kabii mu.
With rushing flood an end he makes of those who rise against him, he drives his enemies into darkness.
9 Ɛpɔ biara a wɔbɛbɔ atia Awurade no, ɔbɛsɛe no; ɔhaw biara remma ne mprenu so.
Why do you plot against the Lord? He will end you. He only takes vengeance once.
10 Wɔde nkasɛɛ bɛkyekyere wɔn ho, na ɛberɛ a wɔn nsa aboro wɔn no wɔbɛhye wɔn sɛ wira dwaneeɛ a wɔaboa ano.
Thorns, tangled and drenched, they are consumed like dry stubble.
11 Ao, Ninewe, wo mu na deɛ ɔbɔ ɛpɔ bɔne tia Awurade na ɔtu fo bɔne no firie.
Nineveh! From you has arisen one who plots evil against the Lord, a counsellor of wickedness.
12 Deɛ Awurade seɛ nie: “Ɛwom sɛ wɔwɔ apamfoɔ a wɔdɔɔso deɛ, nanso wɔbɛsɛe wɔn ama wɔayera. Ao Yuda, ɛwom sɛ mama ɔhaw aba wo so, nanso merenyɛ saa bio.
The Lord says: “Though they are many and strong, they will pass away and be gone. Though I have afflicted you, I will afflict you no more,
13 Afei, mɛbubu kɔnnua a ɛda wo kɔn mu na matete nkɔnsɔnkɔnsɔn no mu.”
and now I will break his yoke from your necks and snap your chains.”
14 Ninewe, Awurade aka ɔhyɛ asɛm a ɛfa wo ho: “Worennya asefoɔ a wo din bɛda wɔn so. Mɛsɛe nsɛsodeɛ a wɔasene ne ahoni a wɔaguo a ɛsisi wʼabosonnan mu no. Mɛsiesie wʼadamena ɛfiri sɛ wadane ayɛ atantanneɛ.”
The Lord has given this command concerning you, Nineveh: “Your name will no longer be remembered. I will destroy every idol and image in the house of your God. I will destroy even your tomb, for you are worthless.”
15 Hwɛ mmepɔ no so, deɛ a ɔde asɛmpa no ba no anammɔn ɔno na ɔka asomdwoesɛm! Ao, Yuda di wʼafahyɛ na di wɔ bɔhyɛ so. Nnipa bɔne rentu wo so sa bio; Wɔbɛsɛe wɔn pasaa.
Look! On the mountains a messenger bringing good news, announcing peace! “Celebrate the feasts, Judah, fulfill your vows. Never again will these enemies invade your land, they are destroyed!”
