< Mateo 2 >

1 Ɛberɛ a Ɔhene Herode di adeɛ no na wɔwoo Yesu wɔ Betlehem a ɛwɔ Yudea.
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saa ɛberɛ no ara mu na anyansafoɔ bi firi apueeɛ baa Yerusalem bɛbisaa sɛ, “Ɛhe na Yudafoɔ ɔhene a wɔawo no no wɔ? Yɛhunuu ne nsoromma wɔ apueeɛ nohoa enti na yɛaba sɛ yɛrebɛsom no.”
Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and have come to worship him.
3 Ɔhene Herode tee saa asɛm yi no, ɛhaa nʼadwene yie. Saa ara nso na ɛhaa Yerusalemfoɔ nyinaa adwene.
When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 Ɔhene Herode frɛɛ ɔman no mu asɔfoɔ mpanin ne Atwerɛsɛm no akyerɛkyerɛfoɔ bɛhyiaeɛ. Ɔbisaa wɔn sɛ, “Ɛhefa na wɔbɛwo Kristo no?”
And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he enquired of them where the Christ should be born.
5 Wɔbuaa no sɛ, “Betlehem a ɛwɔ Yudea. Na yei ne deɛ odiyifoɔ no kaeɛ:
And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet,
6 “‘Ao kuro Betlehem, wo a wonyɛ akumaa wɔ Yuda asafohene mu, wo mu na mɛyi deɛ ɔbɛdi me ɔman Israel anim afiri.’”
And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, art not the least among the princes of Judah: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel.
7 Ɔhene Herode frɛɛ anyansafoɔ no kɔkoam bisaa wɔn ɛberɛ pɔtee a wɔhunuu nsoromma no. Ɔtoaa so ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ,
Then Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.
8 “Monkɔ Betlehem nkɔhwehwɛ abɔfra no. Sɛ mohunu no a, mommɛka nkyerɛ me, na me nso menkɔsom no bi.”
And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 Anyansafoɔ no tiee ɔhene no asɛm no wieeɛ no, wɔkɔeɛ. Wɔrekɔ no, nsoromma a wɔhunuu wɔ apueeɛ no sane yii ne ho adi bio kyerɛɛ wɔn. Ɛdii wɔn anim kɔsii beaeɛ a wɔawo abɔfra no wɔ Betlehem hɔ.
When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
10 Ɛberɛ a wɔhunuu nsoromma no no, wɔn ani gyee mmoroso.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy.
11 Wɔduruu efie a abɔfra no ne ne maame Maria wɔ no, wɔkoto sɔree no. Wɔde wɔn akyɛdeɛ a ɛyɛ sikakɔkɔɔ, aduhwam ne kurobo yɛɛ no ayɛ.
And when they had come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented to him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh.
12 Onyankopɔn soo wɔn daeɛ bɔɔ wɔn kɔkɔ sɛ wɔnnsane nkɔ Herode nkyɛn bio wɔ Yerusalem. Enti wɔfaa ɛkwan foforɔ so kɔɔ wɔn kurom.
And being warned by God in a dream that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own country another way.
13 Anyansafoɔ no kɔeɛ akyiri no, Awurade ɔbɔfoɔ soo Yosef daeɛ sɛ, “Sɔre fa abɔfra no ne ne maame na monkɔ Misraim nkɔtena hɔ nkɔsi sɛ mɛkyerɛ mo ɛberɛ a mobɛsane aba. Ɛfiri sɛ, Ɔhene Herode rehwehwɛ abɔfra no akum no.”
And when they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.
14 Anadwo no ara, Yosef faa abɔfra no ne Maria siim kɔɔ Misraim,
When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:
15 na wɔtenaa hɔ kɔsii sɛ Ɔhene Herode wuiɛ. Yei na ɛmaa deɛ Awurade nam odiyifoɔ no so kaeɛ sɛ, “Mafrɛ me Ba afiri Misraim” no baa mu.
And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken from the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
16 Herode hunuu sɛ anyansafoɔ no adaadaa no no, ne bo fuu mmoroso. Ɔsomaa nʼasraafoɔ sɛ wɔnkɔ Betlehem ne nkuro a atwa ho ahyia no nyinaa mu nkɔkunkum mmadoma mmarimaa kɔsi wɔn a wɔadi mfeɛ mmienu so, sɛdeɛ anyansafoɔ no ɛberɛ a wɔkaa sɛ wɔwoo abɔfra no wɔ mu no kyerɛ no.
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked by the wise men, was exceeding angry, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all its surrounding lands, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
17 Deɛ wɔnam odiyifoɔ Yeremia so kaeɛ no baa mu sɛ,
Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying,
In Ramah was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not.
19 Herode wuiɛ akyiri no, Awurade ɔbɔfoɔ yii ne ho adi kyerɛɛ Yosef wɔ daeɛ mu wɔ Misraim ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ,
But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt,
20 “Sɔre na fa abɔfra no ne ne maame kɔ Israel asase so, ɛfiri sɛ, wɔn a wɔpɛɛ sɛ wɔkum abɔfra no awuwu.”
Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead who sought the young child’s life.
21 Yosef faa abɔfra no ne ne maame sane kɔɔ Israel asase so bio.
And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel.
22 Yosef tee sɛ Arkelao a ɔyɛ Herode ba na ɔdi ɔhene wɔ Yudea saa ɛberɛ no mu no, ɔsuroo sɛ ɔbɛkɔ hɔ. Awurade sane soo no daeɛ foforɔ bio sɛ ɔnnkɔ Yudea, na mmom, ɔnkɔ Galilea.
But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning in Judaea in the place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there: however, being warned by God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee:
23 Enti, wɔkɔtenaa kuro Nasaret mu. Yei nso maa deɛ adiyifoɔ no kaeɛ sɛ, “Wɔbɛfrɛ no Nasareni” no baa mu.
And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.
