1 Nkɔmhyɛ nsɛm a Awurade nam Odiyifoɔ Malaki so de maa Israel.
The burden of the word of the Lord to Israel by the hand of Malachi.
2 “Madɔ mo,” sɛdeɛ Awurade seɛ nie. “Nanso, mobisa sɛ, ‘Wodɔɔ yɛn ɛkwan bɛn so?’” Na Awurade bua sɛ, “Esau nyɛ Yakob nua anaa? Nanso madɔ Yakob,
I have loved you, says the Lord, and you have said, “In what way have you loved us?” Was not Esau brother to Jacob, says the Lord? And have I not loved Jacob,
3 na matane Esau, mayɛ nʼasase mmepɔ mmepɔ no bonini, na nʼagyapadeɛ nso madane no anweatam a nnompo te soɔ.”
but held hatred for Esau? And I have set his mountains in solitude, and his inheritance with the serpents of the desert.
4 Ebia Edom bɛka sɛ, “Ɛwom sɛ wɔadwera yɛn deɛ, nanso yɛbɛsane asi mmubuiɛ no bio.” Nanso, yei ne deɛ Asafo Awurade nso seɛ: “Wɔbɛsi nanso mɛbubu no. Wɔbɛfrɛ wɔn, Amumuyɛ Asase, nnipa a Awurade abufuo bɛtena wɔn so daa.
But if Idumea will say, “We have been destroyed, but when we return, we will build up what has been destroyed,” thus says the Lord of hosts: They will build up, and I will destroy. And they will be called “The limits of impiety,” and, “The people with whom the Lord has been angry, even to eternity.”
5 Mode mo ankasa ani bɛhunu na moaka sɛ, ‘Awurade kɛseyɛ tra Israel ahyeɛ nyinaa so!’
And your eyes will see. And you will say, “May the Lord be magnified beyond the limits of Israel.”
6 “Ɔbabarima de obuo ma nʼagya, na ɔsomfoɔ de anidie ma ne wura. Sɛ meyɛ Agya a, anidie a ɛsɛ sɛ wɔde ma me no wɔ he? Sɛ meyɛ Owura a, obuo a ɛfata me no wɔ he?” Yei na Asafo Awurade bisa. Mo asɔfoɔ, mo na mosɛe me din. “Na mobisa sɛ, ‘Ɛkwan bɛn na yɛ nam so sɛee wo din?’
The son honors the father, and the servant his master. If, therefore, I am Father, where is my honor? And if I am Master, where is my fear? says the Lord of hosts to you, O priests, who despise my name. And you have said, “In what way, have we despised your name?”
7 “Mode aduane a ɛho agu fi bɛgu mʼafɔrebukyia so. “Afei mobisa sɛ ‘Ɛkwan bɛn so na yɛfa guu wo ho fi?’ “Sɛ mokaa sɛ, Awurade ɛpono ho yɛ aniwu enti.
You offer polluted bread upon my altar, and you say, “In what way, have we polluted you?” In that you say, “The table of the Lord has been despised.”
8 Sɛ mode mmoa a wɔn ani abɔ bɔ afɔdeɛ a, ɛnyɛ mmusuo? Sɛ mode mmoa a wɔyare anaa wɔyɛ mpakye bɔ afɔdeɛ a, ɛnyɛ mmusuo? Ɛyɛ a, momfa akyɛdeɛ a ɛte saa no nkɔma mo amrado, na monhwɛ sɛ, nʼani bɛsɔ na wagye wo ato mu anaa?” Deɛ Asafo Awurade seɛ nie.
If you offer the blind for sacrifice, is this not evil? And if you offer the lame and the sick, is this not evil? Offer it to your leader, if he will be pleased with it, or if he will accept your face, says the Lord of hosts.
9 “Afei mo nsrɛ Onyankopɔn, na ɔnhunu yɛn mmɔbɔ. Sɛ afɔrebɔdeɛ sei firi mo nkyɛn a, ɔbɛgye mo ato mu anaa?” Asafo Awurade na ɔrebisa.
And now, beseech the face of God, so that he may have mercy on you (for by your hand has this been done) if, in any way, he might accept your faces, says the Lord of hosts.
10 “Anka mepɛ sɛ mo mu baako kɔtoto asɔredan no apono mu, na obi ankɔsɔ ogya a ɛmfata wɔ mʼafɔrebukyia so! Mʼani nsɔ mo, na merennye afɔrebɔdeɛ biara a ɛfiri mo nkyɛn,” sɛdeɛ Asafo Awurade seɛ nie.
Who is there among you that would close the doors and enflame my altar without pay? I have no favor in you, says the Lord of hosts. And I will not accept a gift from your hand.
11 “Ɛfiri deɛ owia pue kɔsi deɛ owia kɔtɔ, me din bɛyɛ kɛseɛ wɔ amanaman no mu. Baabiara, wɔde afɔrebɔdeɛ a ɛho teɛ ne nnuhwam bɛbrɛ me, ɛfiri sɛ, me din bɛyɛ kɛseɛ wɔ amanaman no mu,” sɛdeɛ Asafo Awurade seɛ nie.
For, from the rising of the sun even to its setting, my name is great among the Gentiles, and in every place, a clean oblation is being sacrificed and offered to my name. For my name is great among the Gentiles, says the Lord of hosts.
12 “Nanso mode kasa fi ka sɛ Awurade ɛpono ho nte. Na mobu ɛso aduane nso animtia.
And you have polluted it, in that you say, “The table of the Lord has been contaminated; and that which is placed upon it is contemptible, compared with the fire that devours it.”
13 Na moka sɛ adesoa bɛn nie, na moyi mo ani firi mʼasɛm so,” sɛdeɛ Asafo Awurade seɛ nie. “Sɛ mode mmoa a wɔapirapira, a wɔyɛ mpakye anaa wɔyareyare bɛbɔ afɔdeɛ ma me a, me nsɔ mu anaa?” Yei na Awurade bisa.
And you have said, “Behold our labor,” and you have exhaled it away, says the Lord of hosts. And you brought in by plunder the lame, and the sick, and brought it in as a gift. How can I receive this from your hand, says the Lord?
14 “Nnome nka osisifoɔ a ɔwɔ odwennini a ɔfata wɔ ne nnwankuo mu, na ɔhyɛ bɔ sɛ ɔde no bɛma nanso ɔde deɛ wadi dɛm na ɛbɔ afɔdeɛ ma Awurade. Meyɛ ɔhempɔn, na ɛsɛ sɛ wɔsuro me din wɔ amanaman mu,” sɛdeɛ Asafo Awurade seɛ nie.
Cursed is the deceitful, who holds in his flock a male, and, when making a vow, offers in sacrifice that which is feeble to the Lord. For I am a great King, says the Lord of hosts, and my name is dreadful among the Gentiles.
