1 Yosua wuo akyi no, Israelfoɔ bisaa Awurade sɛ, “Abusuakuo bɛn na ɛsɛ sɛ wɔkɔto hyɛ Kanaanfoɔ no so kane?”
After that Ioshua was dead, the children of Israel asked ye Lord, saying, Who shall goe vp for vs against the Canaanites, to fight first against them?
2 Awurade buaa sɛ, “Yuda na ɛsɛ sɛ ɔkɔ; mede asase no so die ahyɛ wɔn nsam.”
And the Lord said, Iudah shall goe vp: behold, I haue giuen the land into his hande.
3 Enti, Yuda ntuanofoɔ ka kyerɛɛ wɔn nuanom Simeon abusuakuo no sɛ, “Mommɛka yɛn ho na yɛnko ntia Kanaanfoɔ a wɔte asase a wɔde ama yɛn no so. Yɛn nso, yɛbɛboa mo ama moako afa mo asase.” Enti, Simeonfoɔ mmarima no ne Yudafoɔ no kɔeɛ.
And Iudah said vnto Simeon his brother, Come vp with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites: and I likewise will goe with thee into thy lot: so Simeon went with him.
4 Ɛberɛ a Yuda kɔɔ wɔn so no, Awurade ma wɔdii Kanaanfoɔ ne Perisifoɔ no so nkonim, na wɔkunkumm atamfoɔ akofoɔ ɔpedu wɔ Besek.
Then Iudah went vp, and the Lord deliuered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hands, and they slew of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
5 Besek hɔ, wɔne ɔhene Adoni-Besek hyiaeɛ, na wɔko tiaa no, dii Kanaanfoɔ no ne Perisifoɔ no so nkonim.
And they founde Adoni-bezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and slewe the Canaanites, and the Perizzites.
6 Adoni-Besek dwaneeɛ, nanso ankyɛre na Israelfoɔ kɔkyeree no twitwaa ne nsa ne ne nan kokurobetie.
But Adoni-bezek fled, and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off the thumbes of his hands and of his feete.
7 Ɛmaa Adoni-Besek kaa sɛ, “Ɛberɛ bi na mewɔ Ahemfo aduɔson a wɔatwitwa wɔn kokurobetie bɛtasee mporoporowa wɔ me didipono ase. Afei, Awurade atua me deɛ meyɛɛ wɔn no so ka.” Wɔde no kɔɔ Yerusalem na ɔwuu wɔ hɔ.
And Adoni-bezek said, Seuentie Kings hauing the thumbes of their hands and of their feete cut off, gathered bread vnder my table: as I haue done, so God hath rewarded me. so they brought him to Ierusalem, and there he died.

(Nowe the children of Iudah had fought against Ierusalem, and had taken it and smitten it with the edge of the sworde, and had set the citie on fire.)
9 Ɛno akyi, wɔdane faa anafoɔ fam, kɔto hyɛɛ Kanaanfoɔ a wɔtete bepɔ asase, Negeb ne atɔeɛ fam nkokoɔ so no so.
Afterwarde also the children of Iudah went downe to fight against the Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountaine, and towarde the South, and in the lowe countrey.
10 Yuda bɔ wuraa Kanaanfoɔ a na wɔte Hebron a kane no na wɔfrɛ hɔ Kiriat-Arba no mu, dii Sesai, Ahiman ne Talmai so.
And Iudah went against the Canaanites that dwelt in Hebron, which Hebron beforetime was called Kiriath-arba: and they slewe Sheshai, and Ahiman and Talmai.
11 Wɔfiri hɔ kɔtoaa nnipa a wɔte Debir a kane no na wɔfrɛ hɔ (Kiriat-Sefer no).
And from thence hee went to the inhabitantes of Debir, and the name of Debir in olde time was Kiriath-sepher.
12 Na Kaleb kaa sɛ, “Obiara a ɔbɛto ahyɛ Kiriat-Sefer so na wafa no, mede me babaa Aksa bɛma no aware.”
And Caleb saide, He that smiteth Kiriath-sepher, and taketh it, euen to him wil I giue Achsah my daughter to wife.
13 Ɛnna Kaleb nua kumaa Kenas babarima Otniel kɔfaeɛ. Enti, Aksa bɛyɛɛ Otniel yere.
And Othniel the sonne of Kenaz Calebs yonger brother tooke it, to whome hee gaue Achsah his daughter to wife.
14 Aksa waree Otniel no, ɔka kyerɛɛ no sɛ ɔmmisa nʼagya Kaleb na ɔmma wɔn asase nka deɛ wɔwɔ no ho. Ɔfiri nʼafunumu so sii fam ara pɛ, Kaleb bisaa no sɛ, “Asɛm bɛn? Ɛdeɛn na menyɛ mma wo?”
And when shee came to him, shee mooued him to aske of her father a field, and shee lighted off her asse, and Caleb saide vnto her, What wilt thou?
15 Ɔbuaa sɛ, “Ma me nhyira bio. Woadom me ama me asase wɔ Negeb, na mesrɛ wo ma me asase a nsuo wɔ so.” Enti, Kaleb maa no atifi ne anafoɔ fam nsuwansuwa asase.
And shee answered him, Giue mee a blessing: for thou hast giuen me a South countrey, giue me also springs of water: and Caleb gaue her the springs aboue and the springs beneath.
16 Ɛberɛ a Yuda abusuakuo firii Yeriko no, Kenifoɔ a wɔyɛ Mose ase barima asefoɔ ne wɔn kɔɔ Yuda ɛserɛ no so. Wɔtenaa nnipa a wɔwɔ hɔ no mu wɔ beaeɛ bi a ɛbɛn Arad a ɛwɔ Negeb.
And the childre of Keni Moses father in law went vp out of the citie of the palme trees with the children of Iudah, into the wildernesse of Iudah, that lieth in the South of Arad, and went and dwelt among the people.
17 Afei, Yuda ne Simeon ka bɔɔ mu ko tiaa Kanaanfoɔ a wɔte Sefat no sɛee kuro no pasaa. Enti, wɔtoo kuro no edin Horma.
But Iudah went with Simeon his brother, and they slewe the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and vtterly destroied it, and called the name of the citie Hormah.
18 Ɛno akyi, Yuda ko faa nkuropɔn Gasa, Askelon ne Ekron ne wɔn nsase a atwa wɔn ho ahyia.
Also Iudah tooke Azzah with the coasts thereof, and Askelon with the coasts thereof, and Ekron with the coastes thereof.
19 Na Awurade ka Yuda nkurɔfoɔ ho enti, ɛmaa wɔfaa bepɔ nsase no. Nanso, wɔantumi ampam nnipa a wɔte tata so no amfiri hɔ, ɛfiri sɛ, na wɔwɔ nnadeɛ nteaseɛnam.
And the Lord was with Iudah, and he possessed the mountaines: for he could not driue out the inhabitantes of the valleis, because they had charrets of yron.
20 Wɔde Hebron kuropɔn maa Kaleb sɛdeɛ na Mose ahyɛ ho bɔ no. Na Kaleb pamoo nnipa a na wɔyɛ Anak mmammarima baasa no asefoɔ no firii hɔ.
And they gaue Hebron vnto Caleb, as Moses had saide, and hee expelled thence the three sonnes of Anak.
21 Benyamin abusuakuo no antumi ampam Yebusifoɔ a na wɔte Yerusalem no. Enti, ɛbɛsi ɛnnɛ yi, Yebusifoɔ ne Benyamin nkurɔfoɔ da so te Yerusalem.
But the children of Beniamin did not cast out the Iebusites, that inhabited Ierusalem: therefore the Iebusites dwell with the children of Beniamin in Ierusalem vnto this day.
22 Yosef asefoɔ kɔto hyɛɛ Bet-El kuro no so, na Awurade kaa wɔn ho.
They also that were of the house of Ioseph, went vp to Beth-el, and the Lord was with them,
23 Wɔsomaa akwansrafoɔ kɔɔ Bet-El (a kane no na wɔfrɛ no Lus) hɔ.
And the house of Ioseph caused to viewe Beth-el (and the name of the citie beforetime was Luz)
24 Wɔde nsɛmmisa puapuaa ɔbarima bi a na ɔfiri kuropɔn no mu reba. Wɔka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Kyerɛ yɛn ɛkwan a wɔde kɔ kuropɔn no mu na yɛn nso, yɛbɛhunu wo mmɔbɔ.”
And the spies sawe a man come out of the citie, and they saide vnto him, Shewe vs, we praie thee, the way into the citie, and we will shewe thee mercie.
25 Enti, ɔkyerɛɛ wɔn kuropɔn no kwan ma wɔkɔkunkumm kuropɔn no mu nnipa nyinaa, na wɔgyaa ɔbarima no ne nʼabusuafoɔ.
And when hee had shewed them the waie into the citie, they smote the citie with the edge of the sworde, but they let the man and all his housholde depart.

Then the man went into the lande of the Hittites, and built a citie, and called the name thereof Luz, which is the name thereof vnto this daie.

Neither did Manasseh destroie Bethshean with her townes, nor Taanach with her townes, nor the inhabitantes of Dor with her townes, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam with her townes, neither the inhabitants of Megiddo with her townes: but the Canaanites dwelled still in that lande.
28 Israelfoɔ no nyaa ahoɔden kakra no, wɔhyɛɛ Kanaanfoɔ no ma wɔyɛɛ nnwuma sɛ nkoa maa wɔn a wɔampamo wɔn amfiri asase no so.
Neuerthelesse when Israel was strong, they put the Canaanites to tribute, and expelled them not wholly.
29 Efraim abusuakuo no nso antumi antu Kanaanfoɔ a na wɔte Geser no enti Kanaanfoɔ no kɔɔ so ne wɔn tenaeɛ.
Likewise Ephraim expelled not the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer, but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.
30 Sebulon abusuakuo no antumi antu Kanaanfoɔ a na wɔte Kitron ne Nahalol, enti wɔkɔɔ so ne wɔn tenaeɛ. Nanso, wɔhyɛɛ wɔn ma wɔyɛɛ adwuma sɛ nkoa.
Neither did Zebulun expell the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol, but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.
31 Aser abusuakuo no nso antumi antu wɔn a na wɔte Ako, Sidon, Ahlab, Aksib, Helba, Afik ne Rehob.
Neither did Asher cast out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob,
32 Nokorɛm, ɛsiane sɛ wɔantumi antu wɔn no enti, Kanaanfoɔ no dɔɔso wɔ asase a Aserfoɔ no te soɔ no so.
But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites the inhabitantes of the lande: for they did not driue them out.
33 Naftali abusuakuo no nso antumi antu wɔn a na wɔte Bet-Semes ne Bet-Anat. Mmom, Kanaanfoɔ no dɔɔso wɔ asase a wɔte soɔ no so. Nanso wɔhyɛɛ nnipa a wɔte Bet-Semes ne Bet-Anat ma wɔyɛɛ adwuma sɛ nkoa maa Naftali nkurɔfoɔ.
Neither did Naphtali driue out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh, nor the inhabitants of Beth-anath, but dwelt among the Canaanites the inhabitants of the lande: neuerthelesse the inhabitantes of Beth-shemesh, and of Beth-anath became tributaries vnto them.
34 Dan abusuakuo no deɛ, Amorifoɔ hyɛɛ wɔn maa wɔtu kɔɔ bepɔ nsase no so na wɔamma wɔn amma tata so hɔ.
And the Amorites droue the children of Dan into the mountaine: so that they suffered them not to come downe to the valley.
35 Amorifoɔ no sii wɔn adwene pi sɛ, wɔbɛtena Heres bepɔ so wɔ Ayalon ne Saalbim, nanso Yosef asefoɔ no yɛɛ den mmorosoɔ no, wɔhyɛɛ Amorifoɔ no ma wɔyɛɛ adwuma sɛ nkoa.
And the Ammonites dwelt still in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim, and when the hand of Iosephs familie preuailed, they became tributaries:
36 Na Amorifoɔ hyeɛ firi Akrabbim aforoeɛ kɔ Sela na ɛtoa so kɔ atifi fam.
And the coast of the Amorites was from Maaleh-akrabbim, euen from Selah and vpward.
