< Atemmufoɔ 7 >
1 Anɔpahema, Yerubaal (a ɔne Gideon) ne nʼakodɔm kɔɔ ara kɔsii Harod nsuo ho. Midian akodɔm nso bɔɔ dɔmpem wɔ atifi fam wɔ bɔnhwa bi a ɛbɛn More bepɔ no.
Then Jerobaal, who is the same as Gedeon, rising up early and all the people with him, came to the fountain that is called Harad. Now the camp of Madian was in the valley on the north side of the high hill.
2 Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Gideon sɛ, “Akofoɔ a wɔka wo ho no dɔɔso dodo. Sɛ mema mo nyinaa ko tia Midianfoɔ a, Israelfoɔ no bɛhoahoa wɔn ho akyerɛ me sɛ wɔn ara nam wɔn ahoɔden so na wɔgyee wɔn ho sii hɔ.
And the Lord said to Gedeon: The people that are with thee are many, and Madian shall not be delivered into their hands: lest Israel should glory against me, and say: I was delivered by my own strength.
3 Ɛno enti, ka kyerɛ nnipa no sɛ, ‘Obiara a ɔyɛ tebɔɔ anaa ɔsuro no, ɔnyi ne ho mfiri mu na ɔnkɔ efie.’” Wɔn mu ɔpeduonu mmienu na wɔkɔɔ fie, ɛnna ɛkaa wɔn mu ɔpedu a wɔpɛɛ sɛ wɔbɛko.
Speak to the people, and proclaim in the hearing of all, I Whosoever is fearful and timorous, let him return. So two and twenty thousand men went away from mount Galaad and returned home, and only ten thousand remained.
4 Nanso, Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Gideon sɛ, “Wɔdɔɔso ara. Fa wɔn bra asuo no ho na mɛsa wɔn mu ayi wɔn a wo ne wɔn bɛkɔ ne wɔn a wɔne wo renkɔ.”
And the Lord said to Gedeon: The people are still too many, bring them to the waters, and there I will try them: and of whom I shall say to thee, This shall go with thee, let him go: whom I shall forbid to go, let him return.
5 Ɛberɛ a Gideon de nʼakofoɔ no kɔɔ nsuo no ho no, Awurade ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Kyɛ nnipa no mu akuo mmienu. Fa nnipa a wɔbɔ nsuo gu wɔn nsam na wɔde wɔn tɛkrɛma tafere no sɛ nkraman no kɔ ekuo baako mu. Ekuo a ɛtɔ so mmienu no nso, fa wɔn a wɔbu nkotodwe de wɔn ano nom nsuo wɔ asuwa mu no hyɛ mu.”
And when the people were come down to the waters, the Lord said to Gedeon: They that shall lap the water with their tongues, as dogs are wont to lap, thou shalt set apart by themselves: but they that shall drink bowing down their knees, shall be on the other side.
6 Mmarima no mu ahasa pɛ na na wɔnom nsuo firi wɔn nsa mu. Wɔn a aka no nyinaa nso, na wɔbu nkotodwe de wɔn ano nom nsuo firi asuwa no mu.
And the number of them that had lapped water, casting it with the hand to their mouth, was three hundred men: and all the rest of the multitude had drunk kneeling.
7 Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Gideon sɛ, “Menam saa mmarima ahasa yi so bɛgye mo, na mama moadi Midianfoɔ no so nkonim. Ma wɔn a aka no nyinaa nkɔ fie.”
And the Lord said to Gedeon: By the three hundred men, that lapped water, I will save you, and deliver Madian into thy hand: but let all the rest of the people return to their place.
8 Enti, Gideon gyegyee wɔn akwansoduane ne ntotorobɛnto firii akofoɔ no nkyɛn ma wɔkɔɔ fie. Ɛnna ɔmaa mmarima ahasa no kaa ne nkyɛn. Na Midianfoɔ no atenaeɛ wɔ bɔnhwa a ɛwɔ Gideon ase pɛɛ.
So taking victuals and trumpets according to their number, he ordered all the rest of the multitude to depart to their tents: and he with the three hundred gave himself to the battle. Now the camp of Madian was beneath him in the valley.
9 Anadwo no, Awurade kaa sɛ, “Sɔre! Kɔ Midianfoɔ no atenaeɛ no mu wɔ aseɛ hɔ, na mɛma mo adi wɔn so nkonim!
The same night the Lord said to him: Arise, and go down into the camp: because I have delivered them into thy hand.
10 Na sɛ wosuro sɛ wobɛkoto ahyɛ wɔn so a, wo ne wo ɔsomfoɔ Pura nkɔ hɔ.
But if thou be afraid to go alone, let Phara thy servant go down with thee.
11 Tie deɛ Midianfoɔ no reka na ɛbɛhyɛ wo nkuran. Na wo ho bɛpere wo ama woato ahyɛ wɔn so.” Enti, Gideon faa Pura kaa ne ho ne no kɔɔ atamfoɔ no atenaeɛ no mfikyire.
And when thou shalt hear what they are saying, then shall thy hands be strengthened, and thou shalt go down more secure to the enemies’ camp. And he went down with Phara his servant into part of the camp, where was the watch of men in arms.
12 Saa ɛberɛ no na Midianfoɔ, Amalekfoɔ ne nnipa no nkaeɛ a wɔfifiri apueeɛ fam no abɛyɛ bitibiti te sɛ ntutummɛ wɔ bɔnhwa no mu. Na wɔn nyoma nso dodoɔ te sɛ mpoano anwea. Wɔdɔɔso dodo!
But Madian and Amalec, and all the eastern people lay scattered in the valley, as a multitude of locusts: their camels also were innumerable as the sand that lieth on the sea shore.
And when Gedeon was come, one told his neighbour a dream: and in this manner related what he had seen: I dreamt a dream, and it seemed to me as if a hearth cake of barley bread rolled and came down into the camp of Madian: and when it was come to a tent it struck it, and beat it down flat to the ground.
14 Nʼadamfo no kaa sɛ, “Wo daeɛ no kyerɛ adeɛ baako pɛ. Onyankopɔn de Midian ne ne mpamfoɔ nyinaa so nkonimdie ahyɛ Yoas babarima Gideon, Israelni no nsa.”
He to whom he spoke, answered: This is nothing else but the sword of Gedeon the son of Joas a man of Israel. For the Lord hath delivered Madian, and all their camp into his hand.
15 Ɛberɛ a Gideon tee daeɛ no ne nʼasekyerɛ no, ɔkoto sɔree Onyankopɔn. Ɔsane baa Israel atenaeɛ mu teaam sɛ, “Monsɔre! Awurade de Midianfoɔ ahyɛ mo nsa.”
And when Gedeon had heard the dream, and the interpretation thereof, he adored: and returned to the camp of Israel, and said: Arise, for the Lord hath delivered the camp of Madian into our hands.
16 Ɔkyɛɛ mmarima ahasa no mu akuakuo mmiɛnsa. Ɔde ntotorobɛnto ne dɔteɛ kuruwa a ogyatɛn hyehyɛ mu maa wɔn.
And he divided the three hundred men into three parts, and gave them trumpets in their hands, and empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.
17 Afei, ɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Monhwɛ me. Monni mʼakyi. Sɛ meduru atenaeɛ no mfikyire a, deɛ mɛyɛ biara no, monyɛ bi.
And he said to them: What you shall see me do, do you the same: I will go into one part of the camp, and do you as I shall do.
18 Sɛ me ne wɔn a wɔka me ho nyinaa hyɛn ntotorobɛnto no a, mo a moatwa atenaeɛ no ho ahyia no nyinaa, mo nso monhyɛn mo deɛ na monteam sɛ, ‘Yɛko ma Awurade ne Gideon.’”
When the trumpet shall sound in my hand, do you also blow the trumpets on every side of the camp.
19 Anadwo dasuo mu a wɔasesa awɛmfoɔ no awie pɛ, na Gideon ne mmarima ɔha a wɔka ne ho no kɔduruu Midianfoɔ atenaeɛ mfikyire. Mpofirim wɔhyɛnee wɔn ntotorobɛnto no, bobɔɔ dɔteɛ nkuruwa a na ɛhyehyɛ wɔn nsam no.
And Gedeon, and the three hundred men that were with him, went into part of the camp, at the beginning of the midnight watch, and the watchmen being alarmed, they began to sound their trumpets, and to clap the pitchers one against another.
20 Afei akuo mmiɛnsa no nyinaa hyɛnee wɔn ntotorobɛnto bobɔɔ wɔn nkuruwa. Na wɔkurakura ogyatɛn a ɛrederɛ no wɔ wɔn nsa benkum mu na wɔkurakura ntotorobɛnto wɔ wɔn nsa nifa mu, wɔteaam sɛ, “Awurade akofena yɛ Gideon akofena!”
And when they sounded their trumpets in three places round about the camp, and had broken their pitchers, they held their lamps in their left hands, and with their right hands the trumpets which they blew, and they cried out: The sword of the Lord and of Gedeon;
21 Ɔbarima biara gyinaa nʼafa wɔ atenaeɛ no ho, hwɛɛ Midianfoɔ no sɛ wɔabɔ huboa reteateam na wɔredwane.
Standing every man in his place round about the enemies’ camp. So all the camp was troubled, and crying out and howling they fled away.
22 Ɛberɛ a Israelfoɔ ahasa no hyɛnee wɔn ntotorobɛnto no, Awurade maa wɔn atamfoɔ akofoɔ a wɔwɔ atenaeɛ hɔ no twaa wɔn ho de akofena ne wɔn ho koeɛ. Wɔn a wɔanwu no dwane kɔduruu Bet-Sita a ɛbɛn Serera ne Abel-Mehola hyeɛ a ɛbɛn Tabat so.
And the three hundred men nevertheless persisted sounding the trumpets. And the Lord sent the sword into all the camp, and they killed one another,
23 Afei, Gideon soma kɔfaa Naftali, Aser ne Manase akofoɔ a wɔbɛboa ma wɔtaa Midian akodɔm a wɔredwane no.
Fleeing as far as Bethsetta, and the border of Abelmahula in Tebbath. But the men of Israel shouting from Nephtali and Aser, and from all Manasses pursued after Madian.
24 Gideon tuu abɔfoɔ kɔɔ Efraim mmepɔ aman no so kɔkaa sɛ “Mommra mmɛto nhyɛ Midianfoɔ so. Montware wɔn wɔ Yordan aworɔso a ɛwɔ Bet-Bera hɔ no.” Na Efraim mmarima no yɛɛ sɛdeɛ wɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn no.
And Gedeon sent messengers into all mount Ephraim, saying: Come down to meet Madian, and take the waters before them to Bethbera and the Jordan. And all Ephraim shouted, and took the waters before them and the Jordan as far as Bethbera.
25 Wɔkyeree Oreb ne Seeb a na wɔyɛ Midian asahene. Wɔkumm Oreb wɔ Oreb botan so ɛnna wɔkumm Seeb nso wɔ Seeb nsakyiamena ho. Na wɔkɔɔ so taa Midianfoɔ no. Akyire no, Israelfoɔ no de Oreb ne Seeb tiri no brɛɛ Gideon a na saa ɛberɛ no ɔwɔ Yordan ho no.
And having taken two men of Madian, Oreb and Zeb: Oreb they slew in the rock of Oreb, and Zeb in the winepress of Zeb. And they pursued Madian, carrying the heads of Oreb and Zeb to Gedeon beyond the waters of the Jordan.
