< Yona 2 >
1 Yona firii apataa no yam bɔɔ Awurade ne Onyankopɔn mpaeɛ sɛ.
Then Jonah made prayer to the Lord his God from the inside of the fish, and said,
2 Ɔkaa sɛ, “Mʼahohia mu mefrɛɛ Awurade, na ɔgyee me so. Mefiri adamena ase tɔnn srɛɛ mmoa na wotiee me sufrɛ. (Sheol )
In my trouble I was crying to the Lord, and he gave me an answer; out of the deepest underworld I sent up a cry, and you gave ear to my voice. (Sheol )
3 Wotoo me twenee ebunu mu wɔ ɛpo ase tɔnn, na ɔhweam twaa me ho hyiaeɛ; wʼasorɔkye ne mframa bu faa me so.
For you have put me down into the deep, into the heart of the sea; and the river was round about me; all your waves and your rolling waters went over me.
4 Na mekaa sɛ, ‘Wɔapam me afiri wʼanim; nanso mede mʼani bɛkyerɛ wʼasɔredan kronkron no bio’
And I said, I have been sent away from before your eyes; how may I ever again see your holy Temple?
5 Nsuo a abu afa me so no bɔɔ me hu, ebunu no twaa me ho hyiaeɛ; ɛpo mu wira kyekyeree me tiri ho.
The waters were circling round me, even to the neck; the deep was about me; the sea-grass was twisted round my head.
6 Memem kɔɔ mmepɔ no ase pɛɛ; asase ase kaa me hyɛɛ mu afebɔɔ. Nanso wogyee me nkwa firii amena mu, Ao Awurade, me Onyankopɔn.
I went down to the bases of the mountains; as for the earth, her walls were about me for ever: but you have taken up my life from the underworld, O Lord my God.
7 “Ɛberɛ a me nkwa resene akɔ no, mekaee wo Awurade, na me mpaeɛbɔ foro baa wo nkyɛn, wɔ wʼasɔredan kronkron no mu.
When my soul in me was overcome, I kept the memory of the Lord: and my prayer came in to you, into your holy Temple.
8 “Wɔn a wɔde wɔn ho bata ahoni huhuo ho no hwere adom a anka ɛyɛ wɔn dea.
The worshippers of false gods have given up their only hope.
9 Nanso me, mede ayɛyie nnwom bɛbɔ afɔdeɛ ama wo. Deɛ mahyɛ ho bɔ no, mɛyɛ. Nkwagyeɛ firi Awurade.”
But I will make an offering to you with the voice of praise; I will give effect to my oaths. Salvation is the Lord's.
10 Na afei, Awurade hyɛɛ apataa no ma ɔfee Yona too asase so.
And at the Lord's order, the fish sent Jonah out of its mouth on to the dry land.
