< Yohane 7 >
1 Yei akyi no, Yesu tenaa Galilea a wampɛ sɛ ɔbɛsane akɔ Yudea, ɛfiri sɛ, na Yudafoɔ no rehwehwɛ no akum no.
After this, Jesus traveled about in Galilee, for he would not reside in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
2 Ɛberɛ a Yudafoɔ Asese Afahyɛ no reyɛ aduru no,
Now, the Jewish feast of tabernacles was near.
3 Yesu nuanom ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Ɛsɛ sɛ wofiri ha sane kɔ Yudea sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ na wʼakyidifoɔ bɛhunu nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ a woyɛeɛ no.
His brothers, therefore, said to him, Leave this country, and go to Judea, that your disciples may also see the works which you do.
4 Sɛ obi pɛ sɛ ɔgye edin a, ɔmmfa ne nneyɛeɛ nsie. Ɛsɛ sɛ ɔma nnipa nyinaa hunu ne nneyɛeɛ.”
For whoever courts renown, does nothing in secret: since you perform such things, show yourself to the world.
5 Na ne nuanom mpo nnye no nni.
(For not even his brothers believed on him.)
6 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Me berɛ nnuruiɛ; na mo deɛ, ɛberɛ biara yɛ ma mo.
Jesus answered, My time is not yet come; any time will suit you.
7 Mo deɛ nnipa tan mo a ɛnyɛ yie, nanso me deɛ wɔtan me a ɛyɛ yie, ɛfiri sɛ, daa meka bɔne a wɔyɛ no kyerɛ wɔn.
The world can not hate you; but me it hates, because I disclose the wickedness of its actions.
8 Mo deɛ, monni ɛkan nkɔ afahyɛ no, na me deɛ, mennya nkɔeɛ, ɛfiri sɛ, me berɛ nnuruiɛ.”
Go you to this festival: I go not thither, because it is not my time.
9 Ɔkaa saa asɛm yi kyerɛɛ wɔn akyi no, ɔtenaa Galilea.
Having said this, he remained in Galilee.
10 Yesu nuanom, kɔeɛ akyi no, ɔno nso kɔɔ afahyɛ no ase bi a wamma obiara anhunu no.
But when his brothers were gone, he also went to the festival; not publicly, but rather privately.
11 Yudafoɔ mpanin no hwehwɛɛ no afahyɛ no ase na wɔanhunu no no, wɔbisabisaa wɔn ho wɔn ho sɛ, “Onipa a yɛrehwehwɛ no no wɔ he?”
At the festival, the Jews inquired after him, and said, Where is he?
12 Nnipa no kaa ne ho nsɛm huhuhuhu ɛfiri sɛ, na wɔsuro Yudafoɔ mpanin no. Ebinom se, “Ɔyɛ onipa pa.” Na afoforɔ nso se, “Ɔyɛ ɔdaadaafoɔ.”
And there was much whispering among the people concerning him. Some said, He is a good man. Others, No; he seduces the multitude.
13 Yudafoɔ mpanin no ho hu enti, obiara antumi annyi nʼanim anka ne ho asɛm wɔ badwa mu.
No person, however, spoke freely of him, for fear of the Jews.
14 Afahyɛ no mfimfini no, Yesu kɔɔ asɔredan mu kɔkyerɛkyerɛeɛ.
About the middle of the festival, Jesus went into the temple, and was teaching.
15 Ɛberɛ a Yudafoɔ mpanin no tee Yesu nkyerɛkyerɛ no, ɛyɛɛ wɔn nwanwa na wɔbisaa sɛ, “Onipa yi nsuaa nwoma da, na ɛyɛɛ dɛn na ɔtumi kyerɛkyerɛ sɛɛ yi?”
And the Jews said with astonishment, Whence comes this man's learning, who was never taught?
16 Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Deɛ merekyerɛ no mfiri mʼankasa, na mmom ɛfiri Onyankopɔn a ɔsomaa me no.
Jesus made answer, My doctrine is not mine, but his who sent me.
17 Sɛ obi pɛ sɛ ɔyɛ Onyankopɔn apɛdeɛ a, ɔbɛhunu sɛ me nkyerɛkyerɛ no firi Onyankopɔn nkyɛn anaa ɛfiri mʼankasa.
If any one will do his will, he shall discern whether my doctrine proceeds from God, or from myself.
18 Obiara a ɔde nʼadwene kasa no pɛ animuonyam ma ne ho, na obiara a ɔpɛ animuonyam ma deɛ ɔsomaa no no yɛ ɔnokwafoɔ a nnaadaa biara nni ne mu.
Whosoever teaches what proceeds from himself, seeks to promote his own glory: whosoever seeks to promote the glory of him who sent him, deserves credit, and is a stranger to deceit.
19 Mose amma mo mmara anaa? Nanso, mo mu biara nni saa mmara no so! Adɛn enti na mopɛ sɛ mokum me?”
Did not Moses give you the law? Yet none of you keeps the law. Why do you seek to kill me?
20 Nnipa no ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Gyama honhommɔne bi hyɛ wo so? Hwan na ɔrehwehwɛ wo akum wo?”
The people answered, You are possessed. Who seeks to kill you.
21 Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Anwanwadeɛ baako pɛ a mayɛ enti na mo ho adwiri mo sɛɛ yi.
Jesus replied, I have performed one action, which surprises you all.
22 Mose maa mo twetiatwa (mpo ɛnyɛ sɛ Mose na ɔhyɛɛ ho mmara na ɛyɛ mo nananom) nanso, motwa twetia homeda.
Moses instituted circumcision among you, (not that it is from Moses, but from the patriarchs, ) and you circumcise on the Sabbath.
23 Sɛ motwa twetia homeda na moanto Mose mmara a, adɛn enti na sɛ masa obi yadeɛ homeda a, mo bo fu me?
If, on the Sabbath, a man receive circumcision, that the law of Moses may not be violated; are you incensed against me, because, on the Sabbath, I have cured a man, whose whole body was disabled?
24 Mommmu atɛn kwa. Monhwɛ biribiara a mohunu no yie ansa na moabu ho atɛn.”
Judge not from personal regards, but judge according to justice.
25 Nnipa a na wɔwɔ Yerusalem no mu bi bisaa sɛ, “Ɛnyɛ saa onipa yi ne deɛ wɔpɛ sɛ wɔkum no no anaa?
Then some inhabitants of Jerusalem, said, Is not this he whom they seek to kill?
26 Ɔno na ɔrekasa badwa mu a obiara nka hwee nkyerɛ no yi! Gyama afei deɛ mpanimfoɔ no agye no ato mu sɛ ɔne Agyenkwa no.
Lo! he speaks boldly, and they say nothing to him. Do the rulers, indeed, acknowledge that this is the Messiah?
27 Yɛnim sɛ Agyenkwa no nya ba a, obiara rentumi nkyerɛ faako a ɔfiri baeɛ, nanso saa onipa yi deɛ, yɛnim faako a ɔfiri.”
But we know whence this man is; whereas, when the Messiah shall come, no person will know whence he is.
28 Yesu gu so rekyerɛkyerɛ wɔ asɔredan mu no, ɔteaa mu kaa sɛ, “Ɛwom sɛ monim me na monim faako nso a mefiri baeɛ, nanso, ɛnyɛ me ara me pɛ na mede baeɛ, na deɛ ɔsomaa me no yɛ ɔnokwafoɔ, nanso monnim no;
Jesus, who was then teaching in the temple, cried, Do you know both who, and whence I am? I came not of myself. But he is true, who sent me, whom you know not.
29 na me deɛ, menim no ɛfiri sɛ, mefiri ne nkyɛn na mebaeɛ na ɔno na ɔsomaa me.”
As for me, I know him, because I came from him, and am commissioned by him.
30 Nʼano siiɛ no, wɔpɛɛ sɛ anka wɔkyere no nanso obiara antumi amfa ne nsa anka no, ɛfiri sɛ, na ne berɛ a ɛsɛ sɛ wɔkyere no no nnuruiɛ.
Then they sought to apprehend him, but none laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
31 Nnipa no mu fa kɛseɛ no ara gyee no dii, na wɔbisaa sɛ, “Sɛ Agyenkwa no ba a, ɔbɛtumi ayɛ anwanwadeɛ bebree sene deɛ ɔbarima yi ayɛ no anaa?”
Many of the people, however, believed on him, and said, When the Messiah shall come, will he do more miracles than this man does?
32 Farisifoɔ no tee huhuhuhu no a nnipa no yɛ faa Yesu ho no, wɔne asɔfoɔ mpanin no somaa asɔrefie awɛmfoɔ bi sɛ wɔnkɔkyere Yesu mmra.
When the Pharisees heard that the people muttered such things concerning him, they and the chief priests dispatched officers to seize him.
33 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ nnipakuo no sɛ, “Nna kakra bi na aka me a me ne mo bɛtena na masane akɔ deɛ ɔsomaa me no nkyɛn.
Jesus, therefore, said, Yet a little while I remain with you; then I go to him who sent me.
34 Mobɛhwehwɛ me, nanso morenhunu me, ɛfiri sɛ, faako a merekɔ no morentumi nkɔ hɔ.”
You shall seek me, but shall not find me; nor be able to come where I am.
35 Ɛberɛ a Yudafoɔ mpanin no tee asɛm a Yesu kaeɛ no, wɔbisabisaa wɔn ho wɔn ho sɛ, “Ɛhefa na ɔse ɔrebɛkɔ a enti yɛrenhunu no yi? Anaasɛ ɔpɛ sɛ ɔkɔ Helafoɔ nkuro a Yudafoɔ tete mu no mu kɔkyerɛkyerɛ wɔn?
The Jews said, among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? Will he go to the dispersed Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
36 Sɛ ɔka sɛ, ‘Mobɛhwehwɛ me, nanso morenhunu me, ɛfiri sɛ, faako a merekɔ no morentumi nkɔ hɔ’ a, na ɔkyerɛ sɛn?”
What does he mean, by saying, You shall seek me, but shall not find me, nor be able to get thither, where I shall be.
37 Afahyɛ no da a ɛdi akyire a ɛyɛ da titire no, Yesu sɔre gyinaa hɔ kasaa denden sɛ, “Obiara a osukɔm de no no mmra me nkyɛn mmɛnom nsuo.
On the last, and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come to me, and drink.
38 Na Atwerɛsɛm no ka sɛ, ‘Obiara a ɔgye me di no, nsuo a ɛma nkwa bɛtene afiri ne mu.’”
He who believes on me, as the scripture says, shall be like a cistern, whence rivers of living waters shall flow.
39 Yesu kaa saa asɛm yi faa Honhom Kronkron a wɔn a wɔgyee no diiɛ no nsa bɛka no ho. Saa ɛberɛ no, na ɔnnya mfaa Honhom Kronkron no mmaa wɔn, ɛfiri sɛ, na wɔnnya mmaa ne so nkɔɔ ɔsoro, nhyɛɛ no animuonyam.
This he spoke of the Spirit, which they who believed on him were to receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
40 Nnipa no tee asɛm a Yesu kae no, ebinom kaa sɛ, “Ampa ara, onipa yi ne odiyifoɔ no!”
Many of the people having heard what was spoken, said, This is certainly the prophet.
41 Afoforɔ nso kaa sɛ, “Ɔno ne Kristo no!” Ebinom nso bisaa sɛ, “Ɛbɛyɛ dɛn na Kristo no bɛfiri Galilea?
Some said, This is the Messiah. Others, does the Messiah come from Galilee?
42 Atwerɛsɛm no anka sɛ, saa Kristo no bɛfiri Dawid abusua mu, na wɔbɛwo no wɔ Betlehem kuro a Dawid tenaa mu no mu anaa?”
Does not the scripture say, that the Messiah will be of the posterity of David, and come from Bethlehem, the village whence David was?
43 Yesu enti, nnipa no mu kyekyɛeɛ.
Thus the people were divided concerning him;
44 Ebinom pɛɛ sɛ wɔkyere no, nanso obiara amfa ne nsa anka no.
and some of them would have seized him, but no person laid hands upon him.
45 Asomfoɔ no sane kɔeɛ no, asɔfoɔ mpanin ne Farisifoɔ no bisaa wɔn sɛ, “Adɛn enti na moamfa no amma?”
Then the officers returned to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, Wherefore have you not brought him?
46 Asomfoɔ no buaa sɛ, “Nsɛm a onipa no ka no, ɛyɛ nwanwa na yɛntee bi da.”
The officers answered, Never man spoke like this man.
47 Farisifoɔ no sane bisaa asomfoɔ no sɛ, “Mo nso wadaadaa mo anaa?
The Pharisees replied, Are you also seduced?
48 Moahunu sɛ mpanimfoɔ anaa Farisifoɔ no bi agye no adi anaa?
Has any of the rulers, or of the Pharisees, believed on him?
49 Dabi, ɛremma saa, na mmom ɛyɛ wɔn a wɔnnim mmara no na wɔadome wɔn no na wɔbɛgye no adi.”
But this populace, which knows not the law, is accursed.
50 Saa ɛberɛ no, na Nikodemo a ɔyɛ Farisini a da bi ɔwiaa ne ho kɔɔ Yesu nkyɛn anadwo no nso wɔ hɔ bi.
Nicodemus, one of themselves, (he who came to Jesus by night, )
51 Ɔno na ɔbisaa sɛ, “Enti yɛn mmara ma ho kwan ma yɛbu obi fɔ wɔ ɛberɛ a yɛntee nʼanom asɛm, nhunuu deɛ wayɛ anaa?”
said to them, Does our law permit us to condemn a man, without hearing him, and knowing what he has done?
52 Wɔbuaa no sɛ, “Wo nso wofiri Galilea anaa? Hwehwɛ Atwerɛsɛm no mu yie na wobɛhunu sɛ odiyifoɔ biara rentumi mfiri Galilea da.”
They answered him, Are you also a Galilean? Search, and you will find that prophets arise not out of Galilee.
53 Afei, obiara firii hɔ kɔeɛ a wɔantumi ansi gyinaeɛ biara.
Then every man went to his own house;
