Yohane 4
1 Farisifoɔ no tee sɛ nnipa pii rekɔ Yesu nkyɛn ama wabɔ wɔn asu sene sɛdeɛ nnipa kɔ Yohane nkyɛn.
Therefore when the Lord knew that the Pharisees had heard that Jesus was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John
2 Nso na Yesu ankasa deɛ, ɔmmɔ asu, na mmom, nʼasuafoɔ no na wɔbɔ asu.
(although Jesus Himself wasn’t baptizing, but His disciples were),
3 Yesu tee saa asɛm yi no, ɔfirii Yudea sane kɔɔ Galilea.
He left Judea, and went back towards Galilee.
4 Ɔrekɔ no, na ɛsɛ sɛ ɔfa Samaria.
He had to go through Samaria.
5 Ɛbɛyɛ owigyinaeɛ no, na Yesu abɛn Samaria kuro bi a wɔfrɛ no Sikar a ɛbɛn asase bi a Yakob de maa ne ba Yosef no ho.
He came to a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph,
6 Ɛhɔ na na Yakob abura wɔ. Esiane ɔbrɛ a na Yesu abrɛ enti, ɔtenaa abura no ho sɛ ɔregye nʼahome. Na saa ɛberɛ no bɛyɛ awia nnɔndumienu.
and Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being tired from His journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
7 Ankyɛre, Samariani baa bi baa hɔ bɛtoo nsuo, na Yesu srɛɛ no sɛ, “Ma me nsuo no bi nnom.”
A Samaritan woman came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Please give me a drink.”
8 Saa ɛberɛ no, na Yesu asuafoɔ no kɔ kuro no mu kɔtɔ aduane.
His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.
9 Samariani baa no ka kyerɛɛ Yesu sɛ, “Ɛyɛ me nwanwa sɛ wo a woyɛ Yudani rebisa nsuo afiri me a meyɛ Samariani nkyɛn.” Na Yudafoɔ ne Samariafoɔ nni hwee yɛ.
The Samaritan woman therefore asked Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask me for a drink, since I’m a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews have nothing to do with Samaritans.)
10 Yesu buaa no sɛ, “Sɛ wonim akyɛdeɛ a Onyankopɔn de ma onipa anaa onipa ko a ɔresrɛ wo nsuo yi a, anka wobɛsrɛ no, na wama wo nkwa nsuo.”
Jesus answered her, “If you knew God’s gift, and who it is who says to you, ‘Please give me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
11 Ɔbaa no bisaa sɛ, “Owura, wonni ahoma, nni bokiti, abura yi mu nso dɔ yie, na ɛhe na wobɛnya saa nkwa nsuo no afiri?
The woman said, “Sir, you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where could you get this living water from?
12 Woyɛ ɔkɛseɛ sene yɛn agya Yakob a ɔtuu abura yi maa yɛn na ɔne ne mma, ne nnwan ne nʼanantwie nom mu nsuo bi no anaa?”
Are You greater than our forefather Jacob, who gave us this well and who used to drink from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?”
13 Yesu buaa no sɛ, “Obiara a ɔnom saa nsuo yi bi no, osukɔm de no bio,
Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will get thirsty again,
15 Ɔbaa no srɛɛ no sɛ, “Owura, ma me saa nkwa nsuo yi bi na osukɔm anne me bio, na daa mantwa kwan ammɛto nsuo.”
The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming all the way here to draw water.”
16 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Kɔfrɛ wo kunu na wo ne no mmra.”
Jesus told her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
17 Ɔbaa no buaa no sɛ, “Me wura, menni kunu.” Yesu nso kaa sɛ, “Asɛm a woaka no yɛ nokorɛ sɛ wonni kunu no.
The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus told her, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband,’
18 Woaware mmarima baanum agyae na ɔbarima a wo ne no wɔ hɔ seesei no mpo, ɔnyɛ wo kunu.”
for you have had five husbands, and the one you have now isn’t your husband. What you have said is quite true.”
19 Ɔbaa no kaa sɛ, “Owura, mehunu sɛ woyɛ odiyifoɔ.
The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet.
20 Yɛn agyanom Samariafoɔ somm Onyankopɔn wɔ saa bepɔ yi so, nanso mo Yudafoɔ deɛ, moka sɛ Yerusalem nko ara na ɛsɛ sɛ yɛsom Onyankopɔn.”
Our ancestors worshipped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”
21 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Merema woate aseɛ sɛ berɛ bi bɛba a nnipa rensom Agya no wɔ saa bepɔ yi so anaa Yerusalem.
Jesus told her, “Woman, believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem.
22 Mo Samariafoɔ nnim deɛ mosom no. Nanso, yɛn Yudafoɔ deɛ, yɛnim deɛ yɛsom no, ɛfiri sɛ, Yudafoɔ so na nkwagyeɛ nam ba.
You Samaritans worship what you don’t know. We worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews.
23 Nna bi reba, na mpo aba dada sɛ, nokorɛ asomfoɔ bɛsɔre Agya no wɔ Honhom ne nokorɛ mu. Yeinom ne asomfoɔ a Agya no hwehwɛ.
A time is coming, and has now come, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers that the Father seeks.
24 Onyankopɔn yɛ Honhom, na wɔn a wɔsom no no, ɛsɛ sɛ wɔsom no Honhom ne nokorɛ mu.”
God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
25 Ɔbaa no ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Menim sɛ Mesia no a wɔfrɛ no Kristo no bɛba, na sɛ ɔba a, ɔbɛkyerɛkyerɛ yɛn biribiara mu.”
The woman said to Him, “I know that the Messiah (who is called Christ) is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.”
26 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Me a me ne wo rekasa yi, mene Kristo no.”
Jesus told her, “I who speak to you am He.”
27 Yesu ano siiɛ pɛ na nʼasuafoɔ no sane baeɛ. Ɛyɛɛ asuafoɔ no nwanwa sɛ wɔbɛtoo Yesu sɛ ɔne ɔbaa bi redi nkɔmmɔ. Nanso, wɔn mu biara ammisa ɔbaa no deɛ ɔrehwehwɛ ne Yesu nso deɛ enti a ɔne saa ɔbaa no redi nkɔmmɔ no.
Just then Jesus’ disciples returned. They were surprised to find him talking with a woman, but no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”
28 Afei, ɔbaa yi gyaa nʼasuhina no hɔ sane kɔɔ kuro no mu kɔka kyerɛɛ kurom hɔfoɔ sɛ,
Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and began telling the people,
29 “Mommra mmɛhwɛ ɔbarima bi a waka kɔkoam nneɛma a mayɛ akyerɛ me! Anaa, ɔno ne Agyenkwa no?”
“Come, see a man who told me everything that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”
30 Nnipa a wɔtee asɛm yi nyinaa bɔɔ twi kɔhwɛɛ Yesu.
They went out of the city, and started to go to Him.
31 Afei, asuafoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ Yesu sɛ, “Ɔkyerɛkyerɛfoɔ, didi.”
Meanwhile, the disciples urged Him, saying “Rabbi, eat something.”
32 Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Mewɔ aduane a medi a monnim ho hwee.”
He told them, “I have food to eat that you don’t know about.”
33 Ɛmaa asuafoɔ no bisabisaa wɔn ho wɔn ho sɛ, “Obi abrɛ no aduane bi anaa?”
So the disciples asked one another, “Nobody brought Him anything to eat, did they?”
34 Yesu buaa sɛ, “Mʼaduane ne sɛ meyɛ deɛ ɔsomaa me no apɛdeɛ na mewie dwuma a ɔde maa me sɛ memmɛdi no.
Jesus told them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent me, and to accomplish His work.
35 Moka sɛ, ‘Abosome anan mu, otwaberɛ bɛduru.’ Mommue mo ani nhwɛ mo ho nhyia, na mobɛhunu sɛ aburoo ahoa a ɛkyerɛ sɛ, otwaberɛ aduru!
Don’t you say, ‘It’s still four months until the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.
36 Otwafoɔ nya nʼakatua a ɛsɛ no na ɔboaboa deɛ watwa no ano ma nkwa a ɛnsa da. Yei ma deɛ ɔdua ne deɛ ɔtwa no nyinaa ani gye. (aiōnios g166)
He who harvests is already receiving wages, and is gathering fruit for eternal life, so that he who plants and he who harvests may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
37 Ɛyɛ nokorɛ pefee sɛ, ‘Obi dua na obi twa.’
Thus the saying ‘One plants and another harvests’ is true.
38 Mesomaa mo kɔɔ baabi sɛ monkɔtwa deɛ ɛnyɛ mo na moduaeɛ. Nnipa foforɔ na wɔduaeɛ na mo deɛ, moanya mfasoɔ afiri adwuma a wɔyɛ no mu.”
I sent you to harvest that for which you didn’t labor. Others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.”
39 Esiane adanseɛ a Samariani baa no dii wɔ Yesu ho sɛ, “Waka biribiara a mayɛ akyerɛ me” no enti, kuro no mu hɔfoɔ pii gyee Yesu dii sɛ ɔno ne Mesaia no.
Many Samaritans from that town believed in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything that I ever did.”
40 Enti, ɛberɛ a Samariafoɔ no baa Yesu nkyɛn no, wɔsrɛɛ sɛ ɔntena wɔn nkyɛn. Ɔpenee so dii nnanu wɔ wɔn nkyɛn.
So when the Samaritans arrived, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two days.
41 Ne nsɛm no enti nnipa bebree gyee no diiɛ.
Many more believed because of His words.
42 Nnipa a wɔgyee no dii no ka kyerɛɛ ɔbaa no sɛ, “Ɛnyɛ adanseɛ a wobɛdiiɛ no enti na yɛgye no di, na mmom nsɛm a yɛate sɛ ɔka no enti na yɛagye no adi. Na yɛnim sɛ ɔno ne ewiase Agyenkwa no.”
They told the woman, “It’s no longer just because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this is truly the Savior of the world, the Christ.”
43 Nnanu akyi no, Yesu firii kuro no mu kɔɔ Galilea.
After the two days, He departed from there and went to Galilee,
44 Ɛwom sɛ na Yesu aka sɛ, odiyifoɔ biara nni animuonyam wɔ ne ɔman mu deɛ, nanso
for Jesus Himself testified that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
45 ɛsiane deɛ Galileafoɔ a wɔwɔ Yerusalem Twam Afahyɛ berɛ no mu no hunuu deɛ Yesu yɛeɛ no enti, ɔduruu Galilea no, wɔgyee no.
When He arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed Him. They had seen all that He had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, for they had been there, too.
46 Ɔsane kɔɔ Kana a ɛwɔ Galilea, faako a ɔmaa nsuo danee nsã hɔ no bio. Ɔwɔ hɔ no, ɔhene ɔsomfoɔ panin bi a na ne ba yare wɔ Kapernaum no
Therefore He came back to Cana of Galilee, where He had made the water wine. There was a certain royal official, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 tee Yesu nka sɛ ɔfiri Yudea aba Galilea hɔ. Saa ɔbarima yi kɔɔ Kana kɔhunuu Yesu, srɛɛ no sɛ, ɔne no nkɔ Kapernaum nkɔsa ne ba a na ɔyare a ɔreyɛ awu no yadeɛ mma no.
When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and begged Him to come down and heal his son, who was at the point of death.
48 Yesu kaa sɛ, “Menyɛ nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ nkyerɛ mo ansa na moagye me adi anaa?”
Jesus told him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe.”
49 Ɔsomfoɔ panin no de ahoyera ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Owura, mesrɛ wo, ma yɛnkɔ ntɛm, anyɛ saa a, me ba no bɛwu.”
The royal official said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!”
50 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Kɔ efie, wo ba no ho ayɛ no den!” Ɔsomfoɔ panin no gyee asɛm a Yesu kaeɛ no dii na ɔsiim sɛ ɔrekɔ efie.
Jesus told him, “Go in peace. Your son lives.” So the man believed the words that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way.
51 Ɔnam ɛkwan so no, nʼasomfoɔ bi bɛhyiaa no ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, ne ba no ho ayɛ no den.
As he was still going down the road, his servants met him, saying that his son was living.
52 Ɔbarima no bisaa nʼasomfoɔ no sɛ, “Ɛberɛ bɛn na ne ho yɛɛ no den?” Asomfoɔ no buaa no sɛ, “Nnora awia bɛyɛ dɔnko berɛ mu na huraeɛnini a na abɔ no no gyaeeɛ.”
So he asked them the hour when he began to recover, and they told him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour, the fever left him.”
53 Ɔbarima no tee asɛm no pɛ na ɔkaee sɛ ɛyɛ saa ɛberɛ korɔ no ara mu na Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Kɔ na wo ba no ho ayɛ no den no.” Yei maa ɔbarima no ne ne fiefoɔ nyinaa gyee Yesu diiɛ.
The father realized that it was at that hour that Jesus told him, “Your son lives,” and he himself believed, along with his whole household.
54 Yei ne nsɛnkyerɛnneɛ a ɛtɔ so mmienu a Yesu firii Yudea baa Galilea no ɔyɛeɛ.
This was the second sign that Jesus did, when He had come from out of Judea to Galilee.
