< Yohane 20 >
1 Kwasiada anɔpahema, Maria Magdalene sɔre kɔɔ da no so kɔhunuu sɛ obi apire ɛboɔ no afiri ɔboda no ano.
On the first day of the week, early in the morning, while it was still dark, Mary of Magdala went to the tomb, and saw that the stone had been removed.
2 Ɔhunuu saa no, ɔde ahoɔherɛ kɔɔ Simon Petro ne osuani a Yesu dɔ no no nkyɛn kɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Nnipa bi akɔfa Awurade amu no afiri ɛda no mu na mennim faako a wɔde no akɔto!”
So she came running to Simon Peter, and to that other disciple who was Jesus’ friend, and said to them, “They have taken away the Master out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him!”
3 Petro ne saa osuani yi tee asɛm no no, wɔtuu mmirika kɔɔ ɛda no so.
So, Peter started off with that other disciple, and they went to the tomb.
4 Nanso, saa osuani yi maa ne mmirika mu yɛɛ den twaa Petro ho kɔduruu hɔ kane.
The two began running together; but the other disciple ran faster than Peter, and reached the tomb first.
5 Ɔduruu ɔboda no ano no, wanwura mu. Ɔbɔɔ ne mu ase hwɛɛ mu hunuu sɛ nwera a wɔde kyekyeree Yesu amu no gu hɔ.
Stooping down, he saw the linen wrappings lying there, but did not go in.
6 Simon Petro deɛ, ɔbɛduruu hɔ no, ɔwuraa ɔboda no mu. Ɔhunuu nwera a wɔde kyekyeree Yesu amu no sɛ ɛgu hɔ,
Presently Simon Peter came following behind him, and went into the tomb; and he looked at the linen wrappings lying there,
7 a nwera a wɔde bɔɔ ne ti no nso gu baabi.
and the cloth which had been on Jesus’ head, not lying with the wrappings, but rolled up on one side, separately.
8 Afei, osuani a ɔduruu ɔboda no ho kane no nso wuraa mu hunuu saa nneɛma no maa ɔgye diiɛ.
Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, went inside too, and he saw for himself and was convinced.
9 Saa ɛberɛ no nyinaa na asuafoɔ baanu yi nnya ntee deɛ Atwerɛsɛm aka afa Yesu wusɔreɛ ho no ase.
For they did not then understand the passage of scripture which says that Jesus must rise again from the dead.
10 Afei, asuafoɔ no firii hɔ kɔɔ efie.
The disciples then returned to their companions.
11 Maria deɛ na ɔda so gyina ɔboda no ho resu. Ɔgu so resu no, ɔbɔɔ ne mu ase hwɛɛ ɔboda no mu,
Meanwhile Mary was standing close outside the tomb, weeping. Still weeping, she leant forward into the tomb,
12 na ɔhunuu ɔsoro abɔfoɔ baanu a wɔhyehyɛ ntadeɛ fitafitaa a ɔbaako te atifi na ɔbaako nso te anafoɔ wɔ faako a na Yesu amu no da no.
and perceived two angels clothed in white sitting there, where the body of Jesus had been lying, one where the head and the other where the feet had been.
13 Wɔbisaa no sɛ, “Ɔbaa, adɛn na woresu sɛɛ yi?” Maria de awerɛhoɔ buaa sɛ, “Nnipa bi abɛfa mʼAwurade na mennim faako a wɔde no akɔto.”
“Why are you weeping?” asked the angels. “They have taken my Master away,” she answered, “and I do not know where they have laid him.”
14 Afei, ɔtwaa nʼani hwɛɛ nʼakyi na ɔhunuu sɛ na obi gyina hɔ a ɛyɛ Yesu, nanso na ɔnnim sɛ ɛyɛ ɔno.
After saying this, she turned around, and looked at Jesus standing there, but she did not know that it was Jesus.
15 Yesu bisaa no sɛ, “Ɔbaa, adɛn enti na woresu sɛɛ yi? Hwan na worehwehwɛ no?” Na Maria deɛ ɔsusu sɛ ɛyɛ turom hɔ hwɛfoɔ enti, ɔbisaa no sɛ, “Owura, sɛ wo na wofaa no firii ha a, mesrɛ wo, kyerɛ me faako a wode no akɔto na menkɔfa no.”
“Why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” he asked. Supposing him to be the gardener, Mary answered, “If it was you, Sir, who carried him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will take him away myself.”
16 Yesu frɛɛ no sɛ, “Maria!” Maria twaa nʼani hwɛɛ no na ɔgyee so wɔ Hebri kasa mu sɛ, “Rabuni!” (a aseɛ ne “Ɔkyerɛkyerɛfoɔ”).
“Mary!” said Jesus. She turned around, and exclaimed in Hebrew, “Rabboni!” (or, as we should say, ‘teacher’).
17 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Nsɔ me mu, ɛfiri sɛ, mennya nkɔɔ mʼAgya nkyɛn; kɔka kyerɛ mʼasuafoɔ no sɛ, meresane akɔ mʼAgya a ɔyɛ wɔn agya ne me Onyankopɔn a ɔyɛ wɔn nso Onyankopɔn no nkyɛn.”
“Do not hold me,” Jesus said, “for I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers, and tell them that I am ascending to him who is my Father and their Father, my God and their God.”
18 Maria Magdalene firii hɔ kɔbɔɔ asuafoɔ no amaneɛ sɛ wahunu Awurade na ɔkaa asɛm a Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no no kyerɛɛ wɔn.
Mary of Magdala went and told the disciples that she had seen the Master, and that he had said this to her.
19 Saa ɛda no ara anwummerɛ a na ɛsiane Yudafoɔ mpanin no ho hu enti, asuafoɔ no ato wɔn ho ɛpono mu no, Yesu baa ɛdan no mu hɔ kyeaa wɔn sɛ, “Asomdwoeɛ nka mo.”
In the evening of the same day – the first day of the week – after the doors of the room, in which the disciples were, had been shut because they were afraid of the religious authorities, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you”;
20 Ɔkyeaa wɔn wieeɛ no, ɔde ne nsam ne ne mfem kyerɛɛ wɔn. Asuafoɔ no hunuu Awurade no, wɔn ani gyee yie.
after which he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Master.
21 Yesu sane kyeaa wɔn bio sɛ, “Asomdwoeɛ nka mo.” Afei, ɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Sɛdeɛ Agya no somaa me no, saa ara na me nso meresoma mo.”
Again Jesus said to them, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me as his messenger, so I am sending you.”
22 Yei akyi, ɔhome guu wɔn so kaa sɛ, “Honhom Kronkron no mmra mo so.
After saying this, he breathed on them, and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit;
23 Sɛ mode obi bɔne kyɛ no a, wɔde bɛkyɛ no; na sɛ moamfa obi bɔne ankyɛ no a, wɔremfa nkyɛ no.”
if you remit anyone’s sins, they have been remitted; and, if you retain them, they have been retained.”
24 Ɛberɛ a Yesu yii ne ho adi kyerɛɛ asuafoɔ no, na Toma a wɔfrɛ no Ata a ɔyɛ asuafoɔ dumienu no mu baako no nni hɔ bi.
But Thomas, one of the Twelve, called ‘The Twin,’ was not with them when Jesus came;
25 Ɛberɛ a asuafoɔ no ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Wɔahunu Awurade no!” Wannye anni kaa sɛ, “Sɛ manhunu ne nsam ne ne mfem twa no na mamfa me nsa anka a, merennye nni da.”
so the rest of the disciples said to him, “We have seen the Master!” “Unless I see the marks of the nails in his hands,” he exclaimed, “and put my finger into the marks, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it.”
26 Nnawɔtwe akyi, asuafoɔ no sane hyiaeɛ bio a na Toma ka wɔn ho. Ɛwom sɛ na wɔatoto apono no mu deɛ, nanso Yesu sane baa hɔ kyeaa wɔn bio sɛ, “Asomdwoeɛ nka mo!”
A week later the disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. After the doors had been shut, Jesus came and stood among them, and said, “Peace be with you.”
27 Afei, Yesu frɛɛ Toma ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Fa wo nsa bɛka me nsam ne me mfem. Nnye akyinnyeɛ bio. Gye di!”
Then he said to Thomas, “Place your finger here, and look at my hands; and place your hand here, and put it into my side; and do not refuse to believe, but believe.”
28 Toma de ahonuo kaa sɛ, “Wo ne mʼAwurade ne me Onyankopɔn!”
And Thomas exclaimed, “My Master, and my God!”
29 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ no sɛ, “Woahunu me no enti, na woagye adi; nhyira nka wɔn a wɔnhunuu me nanso wɔgye me di.”
“Is it because you have seen me that you have believed?” said Jesus. “Blessed are they who have not seen, and yet have believed!”
30 Yesu yɛɛ anwanwadeɛ ahodoɔ bebree kyerɛɛ nʼasuafoɔ no a wɔantwerɛ wɔ saa nwoma yi mu.
There were many other signs of his mission that Jesus gave in presence of the disciples, which are not recorded in this book;
31 Nanso, biribiara a wɔatwerɛ wɔ saa nwoma yi mu no, wɔatwerɛ sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a mobɛgye adi sɛ, Yesu ne Agyenkwa, ne Onyankopɔn Ba no; na sɛ mogye no di a, mobɛnya nkwa.
but these have been recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God – and that, through your belief in his name, you may have life.
