Yohane 18
1 Yesu bɔɔ saa mpaeɛ yi wieeɛ no, ɔne nʼasuafoɔ no firii baabi a wɔwɔ no kɔtwaa asuo Kidron kɔɔ turo bi mu.
When Jesus had said these things, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where there was a garden, into which he entered with his disciples.
2 Esiane sɛ na Yesu ne nʼasuafoɔ no taa kɔ hɔ no enti, na Yuda a ɔyii no maeɛ no nim hɔ.
And Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place; because Jesus had often resorted thither together with his disciples.
3 Asɔfoɔ mpanin ne Farisifoɔ no somaa Yuda ne asraafoɔ ne asɔredan mu awɛmfoɔ a wɔkurakura akodeɛ ne nkanea kɔɔ faako a wɔwɔ no.
Judas therefore having received a band of soldiers and servants from the chief priests and the Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
4 Yesu a na ɔnim deɛ ɛbɛba ne so nyinaa no kɔhyiaa wɔn bisaa wɔn sɛ. “Hwan na mohwehwɛ no?”
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said to them: Whom seek ye?
5 Wɔbuaa no sɛ, “Yesu a ɔfiri Nasaret no.” Yesu ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Me ni!” Na Yuda a ɔyii no maeɛ no gyina hɔ bi.
They answered him: Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith to them: I am he. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them.
6 Yesu kaa sɛ, “Me ni” no, wɔpinpinii wɔn akyi na wɔhwehwee ase.
As soon therefore as he had said to them: I am he; they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7 Ɔsane bisaa wɔn bio sɛ, “Morehwehwɛ hwan?” Na wɔbuaa sɛ, “Yesu a ɔfiri Nasaret no.”
Again therefore he asked them: Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
8 Yesu buaa wɔn sɛ, “Maka akyerɛ mo dada sɛ me ni. Sɛ me na morehwehwɛ me de a, ɛnneɛ momma mʼasuafoɔ no nkɔ.”
Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he. If therefore you seek me, let these go their way.
9 Ɔkaa yei nyinaa sɛdeɛ ɛbɛyɛ a nsɛm a wɔaka sɛ, “Agya, wɔn a wode wɔn maa me no mu baako koraa nyeraeɛ” no, bɛba mu.
That the word might be fulfilled which he said: Of them whom thou hast given me, I have not lost any one.
10 Saa ɛberɛ no, Petro a na ɔkura sekan no tweeɛ, de twaa ɔsɔfopanin no asomfoɔ no mu baako aso nifa. Saa akoa no din de Malko.
Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it, and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And the name of the servant was Malchus.
11 Yesu ka kyerɛɛ Petro sɛ, “Fa wo sekan no sane hyɛ faako a wotwe firiiɛ. Ɛnsɛ sɛ menom kuruwa a mʼAgya de ama me no ano anaa?”
Jesus therefore said to Peter: Put up thy sword into the scabbard. The chalice which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

Then the band and the tribune, and the servants of the Jews, took Jesus, and bound him:
13 de no dii ɛkan kɔmaa Anas a na nʼase ne Kaiafa a saa ɛberɛ no na ɔyɛ Ɔsɔfopanin no.
And they led him away to Annas first, for he was father in law to Caiphas, who was the high priest of that year.
14 Kaiafa na ɔtuu Yudafoɔ no fo sɛ, ɛyɛ sɛ onipa baako bɛwu ama ɔman no.
Now Caiphas was he who had given the counsel to the Jews: That it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
15 Simon Petro ne osuani baako dii Yesu akyi. Na osuani baako no yɛ obi a ɔsɔfopanin no nim no yie. Saa osuani no na ɔnyaa ɛkwan kɔɔ ɔsɔfopanin no efie hɔ.
And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. And that disciple was known to the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the court of the high priest.
16 Petro deɛ ɔkaa ɛpono no akyi. Saa osuani a na ɔnim ɔsɔfopanin no yie no, sane baeɛ ne abaayewa a na ɔhwɛ ɛpono no ano no bɛkasaeɛ maa Petro nyaa ɛkwan kɔɔ mu.
But Peter stood at the door without. The other disciple therefore, who was known to the high priest, went out, and spoke to the portress, and brought in Peter.
17 Abaayewa a ɔgyina ɛpono ano no bisaa Petro sɛ, “Wonyɛ saa onipa no asuafoɔ no mu baako anaa?” Petro buaa sɛ, “Dabi.”
The maid therefore that was portress, saith to Peter: Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples? He saith: I am not.
18 Saa ɛberɛ no na ɛyɛ awɔberɛ, enti na asomfoɔ no ne asraafoɔ no asɔ ogya a wɔreto. Petro nso kɔgyinaa hɔ too ogya no bi.
Now the servants and ministers stood at a fire of coals, because it was cold, and warmed themselves. And with them was Peter also, standing, and warming himself.
19 Ɔsɔfopanin no bisaa Yesu nsɛm faa nʼasuafoɔ no ne ne nkyerɛkyerɛ ho.
The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
20 Yesu buaa sɛ, “Mekaa me nsɛm nyinaa wɔ dwam na mekyerɛkyerɛɛ wɔ asɔredan ne hyiadan mu a nnipa nyinaa hyia hɔ no. Menkaa asɛm biara wɔ kɔkoam.
Jesus answered him: I have spoken openly to the world: I have always taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither all the Jews resort; and in secret I have spoken nothing.
21 Adɛn enti na wobisa saa asɛm yi? Bisa wɔn a wɔtiee me no. Wɔn na wɔnim asɛm a mekaeɛ.”
Why asketh thou me? ask them who have heard what I have spoken unto them: behold they know what things I have said.
22 Yesu kaa saa no, awɛmfoɔ no mu baako bɔɔ no sotorɔ kaa sɛ, “Wo sɛɛ ne hwan a wotumi kasa ɔsɔfopanin anim saa.”
And when he had said these things, one of the servants standing by, gave Jesus a blow, saying: Answerest thou the high priest so?
23 Yesu buaa no sɛ, “Sɛ maka asɛmmɔne bi a, ka asɛm a mekaeɛ no na obiara a ɔwɔ ha nte bi. Na sɛ asɛm a mekaeɛ no nso yɛ nokorɛ deɛ a, adɛn enti na wobɔ me?”
Jesus answered him: If I have spoken evil, give testimony of the evil; but if well, why strikest thou me?
24 Afei, Anas maa wɔde Yesu a wɔakyekyere ne nsa no kɔɔ Ɔsɔfopanin Kaiafa anim.
And Annas sent him bound to Caiphas the high priest.
25 Ɛberɛ a Petro da so gyina hɔ reto ogya no bi no, wɔn a na wɔgyina hɔ no mu bi bisaa no sɛ, “Wo nso wonyɛ ɔbarima no asuafoɔ no mu baako anaa?” Petro sanee bio sɛ, “Dabi, menka wɔn ho.”
And Simon Peter was standing, and warming himself. They said therefore to him: Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said: I am not.
26 Ɔsɔfopanin no asomfoɔ no mu baako a na ɔyɛ deɛ Petro twaa nʼaso no busuani no bisaa no sɛ, “Ɛnyɛ wo na na wo ne no wɔ turo no mu hɔ no?”
One of the servants of the high priest (a kinsman to him whose ear Peter cut off) saith to him: Did I not see thee in the garden with him?
27 Petro sane sanee bio sɛ, “Dabi.” Nʼano sii ara pɛ na akokɔ bɔneeɛ.
Again therefore Peter denied; and immediately the cock crew.
28 Wɔde Yesu firi Kaiafa fie de no kɔɔ Pilato ahemfie. Saa ɛberɛ no na ɛyɛ anɔpahema. Esiane sɛ na Yudafoɔ no mpɛ sɛ efi ka wɔn na wɔatumi adi Twam Afahyɛ aduane no bi enti, wɔankɔ hɔ bi.
Then they led Jesus from Caiphas to the governor’s hall. And it was morning; and they went not into the hall, that they might not be defiled, but that they might eat the pasch.
29 Pilato firii adi baa faako a na nnipa no wɔ no bɛbisaa wɔn sɛ, “Bɔne bɛn na saa onipa yi ayɛ?”
Pilate therefore went out to them, and said: What accusation bring you against this man?
30 Nnipa no buaa no sɛ, “Sɛ ɔnyɛɛ bɔne biara a anka yɛamfa no amma wʼanim ha.”
They answered, and said to him: If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up to thee.
31 Pilato ka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Mo ara momfa no nkɔ na momfa mo mmara so nni nʼasɛm.” Yudafoɔ no nso kaa sɛ, “Yɛnni tumi sɛ yɛkum obi.”
Pilate therefore said to them: Take him you, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said to him: It is not lawful for us to put any man to death;
32 Deɛ ɛsiiɛ yi maa nsɛm a Yesu ka de kyerɛɛ owu ko a ɔbɛwu no daa adi pefee.
That the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he said, signifying what death he should die.
33 Pilato sane kɔɔ nʼahemfie hɔ kɔbisaa Yesu sɛ, “Wone Yudafoɔ ɔhene no anaa?”
Pilate therefore went into the hall again, and called Jesus, and said to him: Art thou the king of the Jews?
34 Yesu nso bisaa no sɛ, “Wo ara wʼadwene na wode rebisa me saa asɛm yi, anaasɛ nnipa bi na aka me ho asɛm akyerɛ wo?”
Jesus answered: Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or have others told it thee of me?
35 Pilato buaa Yesu sɛ, “Wosusu sɛ meyɛ Yudani anaa? Wo ara wo nkurɔfoɔ ne wɔn asɔfoɔ mpanin na wɔde wo brɛɛ me. Ɛdeɛn na woayɛ?”
Pilate answered: Am I a Jew? Thy own nation, and the chief priests, have delivered thee up to me: what hast thou done?
36 Yesu buaa no sɛ, “Mʼahennie nnyɛ asase so ahennie; sɛ mʼahennie yɛ asase so ahennie a, anka mʼakyidifoɔ bɛko agye me afiri Yudafoɔ mpanimfoɔ no nsam. Mereka bio sɛ, mʼahennie nnyɛ asase so ahennie.”
Jesus answered: My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would certainly strive that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now my kingdom is not from hence.
37 Pilato see no sɛ, “Ɛnneɛ na woyɛ ɔhene?” Yesu buaa no sɛ, “Wo na woseɛ sɛ meyɛ ɔhene. Adeɛ baako pɛ enti na wɔwoo me baa ewiase ha, sɛ memmɛdi nokorɛ ho adanseɛ. Obiara a ɔpɛ nokorɛ no tie me.”
Pilate therefore said to him: Art thou a king then? Jesus answered: Thou sayest that I am a king. For this was I born, and for this came I into the world; that I should give testimony to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice.
38 Pilato bisaa no sɛ, “Ɛdeɛn ne saa nokorɛ no?” Afei, Pilato firii adi kɔɔ Yudafoɔ no nkyɛn kɔka kyerɛɛ wɔn sɛ, “Menni asɛm biara a mɛgyina so abu no fɔ.
Pilate saith to him: What is truth? And when he said this, he went out again to the Jews, and saith to them: I find no cause in him.
39 Nanso, sɛdeɛ mo Twam Afahyɛ amanneɛ te no, afeɛ biara moma megyaa ɔdeduani baako ma mo. Mopɛ sɛ megyaa Yudafoɔ ɔhene no ma mo anaa?”
But you have a custom that I should release one unto you at the pasch: will you, therefore, that I release unto you the king of the Jews?
40 Yudafoɔ no teateaam sɛ, “Dabi! Ɛnyɛ saa onipa yi. Gyaa Baraba ma yɛn!” Na saa Baraba yi yɛ ɔmammɔfoɔ.
Then cried they all again, saying: Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
